St. Bernard
A/N: Michael exaggerates the dog's size in this by the way
Michael's day had steadily gotten better, work wasn't as much of a drag as he thought it would be, the only problem either than the dog situation happened to be that Luke wanted to hang out.
Normally, Michael didn't mind because he didn't have plans but this was the third time this week, it seemed like Luke wanted to be more than acquaintances and Michael didn't know if he really wanted to make friends again, he liked the freedom of having no ties. Luke was pretty cool though, he had great taste and knew what Michael was craving before he even knew. Like today Luke made him an omelet and hash browns--which isn't even on the diner's menu--and Michael felt liked he'd died and woke up in heaven, it made his day instantaneously better despite just being food. Maybe having Luke as his only friend would be nice.
Michael found himself meandering again, usually he would walk straight home after work for a nap and maybe an hour or three of Pokémon X because he was so close to finishing it, today was an odd day. He was usually one to stick to a sort of schedule that didn't consist of loitering around town. He didn't have a purpose for being downtown, he'd bought groceries yesterday.
A tall lady with a large hoodie on walked up to where he was leaning against a storefront, Michael didn't exactly know what to expect when she gave him a once over. This part of town wasn't even that shady and he didn't think that someone would mug him in broad daylight.
"Excuse me? Can you watch my dog while I get something in the store?" She asked, totally not what Michael was expecting her to say. He nodded quickly because she was giving him a look that kind of made him think that she would mug him if he said no.
Michael didn't really feel up to looking after another purse dog, the last one did piss on his shoe, but he couldn't exactly protest when she handed him one end of the leash. He watched her head into the store across the street and Michael realized that he'd be standing around for quite a while, it was a clothing store.
Michael braved a look at the tiny terror he'd be spending the next half hour with, and fuck was he wrong about that. Definitely not a tiny terror, it could eat at least six tiny terrors for breakfast. If it wanted to, it could probably eat him too. This dog was big. It was like a final evolution, the kind that can literally kick ass.
This dog had a big droopy face that made it look really tired and Michael was hoping that it was really tired because this giant could drag him anywhere it wanted to go.
Michael sat down, back against the brick and he prepared himself incase it really did want to take Michael on a walk. Much to his surprise, the dog sat down next to him. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad, this dog appeared to be peaceful.
The dog looked back at him and Michael gave it a tight smile, "Hey."
He wasn't sure why he bothered to greet the beast, it obviously wasn't going to respond.
The dog huffed, looked around and sniffed at the air for a couple seconds and stood up. Michael braced himself for the worst, kind of unsure what to do if the dog chased after a car because he'd told the lady he'd look after her dog and he was pretty sure she'd do more than mug him if he lost her dog.
The giant hunk of dog relocated, stepping over Michael a few times as it spun and Michael had a hard time making sure the leash didn't tangle around the dog. Just when Michael was struggling, the dog sat it's fat ass down right on him. Absolutely no regard for personal space.
At this point, to passers by, Michael was nothing but a pair of legs underneath this mass of slobber and fur. He didn't have much choice really, he'd just have to deal with the cow of a dog sitting in his lap until the lady came back. He definitely did not want to risk getting bitten by the dog.
"Oh hello! Wow, look at you, you're absolutely adorable!" A voice exclaimed, sounding vaguely familiar. Michael struggled a little to peek out from behind the dog. It was the college boy from earlier.
"Yeah, I've been told that a couple times." Michael chuckled, even though he knew the comment was directed at the large dog on top of him.
The aussie looked up to find Michael's white-blond hair peaking out from behind the dog. He stood on his toes in order to find the rest of Michael's head.
He chuckled, "Hi, you're pretty cute too but I was talking to your dog."
Michael's confidence disappeared when the boy flashed that smile at him, because wow.
Michael blushed at the compliment, although he'd already anticipated something along those lines considering he'd pretty much put himself out there.
He really hoped the boy was at least half way into the gay so Michael wouldn't think he was just being polite.
"Does she have a name?" The darker skinned boy asked, taking the dog's face into his hands and giving it a quick kiss on the forehead.
"Do you have a name?" Michael asked, trying briefly to sit up a little more so him and the boy could maintain some sort of eye contact.
The lad smirked, "I asked first."
Michael paused, once again it wasn't his dog, and he hadn't bothered to learn it's name.
"Her name is probably something really great, but I wouldn't know because I'm just watching it while a girl does her shopping." Michael admitted with a rather sheepish smile.
"Oh." The boy laughed, "Looks like you don't get to find out my name today."
"What, why?" Michael blurted out as the boy stood up, unfortunately the dog was preventing him from doing the same.
"I'm meeting up with a friend and I'm kinda running late now. Maybe next time." The darker skinned boy started walking away at a brisk pace and had turned a corner before Michael had the chance to coax him back.
Michael couldn't help but frown, he'd only met the guy twice and he was already hoping they would cross paths again.
