Chapter Two

"I brought dinner." Seokjin's best friend and roommate, Taehyung, announced as he entered their apartment.

Jin sprung to his feet from the couch and dashed into their kitchen, eager to see what Taehyung had brought home with him.

"How did you know I was starving?"

"When aren't you?"

"A valid point. However, I've had such a terrible day today, so I needed this. I was not in the mood to cook, and I had a twelve-page paper due that kicked my ass. If this weren't my last semester, I swear to myself that I would just quit." Jin took the bag from Taehyung's hand, curious to see what they would have for dinner.

While Taehyung listened, he laughed and said, "I doubt it. You are not a quitter. What went wrong that caused you to have such a bad day? My situation was far worse; I was dumped, but we were prepared for that."

Jin couldn't hold back his laughter as he said, "damn, he really dumped you?"

Taehyung exhaled deeply and said, "certainly did. However, I am quite offended since he did it soon after I paid for his meal."

"See, I told you he was a complete asshole. Speaking of assholes, I came across one today! Because of Bailey, I am responsible for paying for whatever damages were caused to his suit and for some silly cup of coffee and who knows what else. I'm not going to pay, and I've already warned Bailey's owners that they should prepare themselves for a bill whenever I receive it."

"You were totally right. However, I am relieved that everything is done with. He did not measure up. The next time I go out with someone, I'm going to prioritize getting to know that person. No more jumping headfirst into new relationships. Now, hold on, why are you paying for coffee, and what exactly did Bailey do?"

While taking the food out of the bag and leaning on the kitchen counter, Jin said, "You should definitely do that and put yourself first for once. Put a stop to supporting these fools financially, they are not worth it, and you are being used. If you take things a little slower, I believe you'll meet a good person that both your mother and I will like.

As for Bailey, you are fully aware of her temperament. She craves attention, but I think she wasn't receiving as much as she needed today, so she went out of her way to get it. She does this a lot.

She knocked down this asshole, and he came running over to shout at us. I think he gave Bailey a run for her money with all that barking. Then warned me that I shouldn't be out walking a dog as big as Bailey. I should have a dog my size; so darn disrespectful. It really got to me. I really wish I had brought Lucky with me because I'm sure he would have pulled all of his clothes off.

Do not misunderstand. Bailey was in the wrong, and you are well aware of the difficulty I have in walking her, but he was so impolite that it was difficult for me to maintain my composure. Bailey was referred to as a mongrel by him. I mean, really, who says things like that?" Jin was upset just thinking about the situation again.

"Wow-" The ringing of Jin's phone caused Taehyung to halt what he was about to say, and Jin gestured for him to give him a minute by holding up his hand.

"Hello?... This is him.....Oh.... Wait, I am sorry, but why is it two cups of coffee when he just had one, and what do you mean when you say that he wants me to deliver it to him?" As Jin listened to the person on the other end of the line, he could not believe what he was hearing.

"No. I do not do errands, and I do not believe that bringing him the coffee is required of me. Although I have promised to pay for it, I have in no way committed that I would deliver it, and I would ask that it be made clear that I only agreed to pay for one cup of coffee, not two. Are there any other charges that I need to be aware of that I haven't been told about?........sure, thank you. I will await the update."

As soon as Jin finished his call, he turned to Taehyung with a shocked expression and said, "this guy is mad. That was his assistant speaking, telling me that I owe him two cups of coffee and that I need to deliver it to him by six in the morning tomorrow."

"What, are you serious?"

"Does it look like I am joking? I told the assistant no. Like, what the hell? Who do you think you are? I will not get out of my bed and bring you coffee."

Jimin tried to collect himself before approaching Jungkook's office door and knocking on it. After receiving no answer, he pushed the door open and entered.

Jungkook had his head bowed and was focused on his computer screen. Jimin could see that he was busy, so he didn't want to be a nuisance to him, but he did need to give him an update.

"Sir, I spoke with Seokjin."

"Who is that?" Jungkook asked as he looked over at Jimin.

"It's the guy from earlier with the dog-"

"Oh, him. When will he bring me coffee tomorrow, and at what time?"

It took Jimin a moment to respond, but eventually, he said, "He will not be delivering it. He has said that he can pay for it; nevertheless, he does not do errands and will not bring any coffee to you since this was never a part of your agreement. This is effectively a condensed version of what he said."

The question, "does he know who I am?" was asked with a raised eyebrow by Jungkook.

"Sir, I don't think you made that introduction to him; therefore, unfortunately, that might be a no."

"What exactly does he mean when he says he does not do errands? Who informed him that delivering coffee to me was an errand? You didn't tell him that, did you?"

"No, and I'm not sure about that either, sir. It was his reaction, and I only recounted it in the form in which he delivered it."

"I find that to be insulting. I was assaulted by his dog, and he feels he is beyond offering an apology for the incident. There is a whole lot more that I could ask for. Rabies was probably present in the dog. Even though I could die at any moment, he seems to believe that he is above delivering the two cups of coffee that he owes me.

How much did the repairs for the damage to my suit cost? I also have a scrape on my arm, so please get me in to see my doctor as soon as possible; we need that cost of treatment as well. It is very evident that the "good Samaritan" attitude will not get you very far in life. It would be a mistake for him to even contemplate bringing me coffee as an errand. Where does he live?"

Jimin was confused by his boss and felt that the man was overreacting to the situation. "I will get in touch with your doctor as soon as possible. Regarding the expense of the damage to your suit, there was not a great deal of damage; the only thing that was damaged was some dirt-"

"How is there no damage to my suit even though it was ripped?"

"Sir, according to the inspection findings, your suit does not seem to have any rips; nevertheless, I may have it inspected again. It's possible that it was overlooked. I have no idea about the location of this man's home."

"I do not pay you to not know, so figure it out and consider my suit as a loss; I won't be able to wear it again. I paid around ten thousand dollars for it and need that cash back."

"Do you have the receipt?"

"Excuse me?"

"I apologize if I came off as rude, sir. It just so happens that I just had a conversation with Seokjin, and I believe that if you would want him to pay for a new suit for you, I feel he would want to see the receipt of the prior suit you bought to verify that he is not being overcharged."

"Why would I overcharge him, and why do you believe things about what he would believe? You work for him, or do you work for me? Call him and let him know he is responsible for paying me $30,000 in compensation for the physical hurt and loss of property he caused me. Stay here while you call him. I want to hear his response."

Jimin was not comfortable with what Jungkook was asking him to do, but he had no choice in the matter unless he wanted to lose his job, which he did not want. He reluctantly took out his work cell phone and called back Seokjin's number.

He was hoping he didn't pick up, but unfortunately, he did.

He placed the phone on speaker as he greeted Seokjin.

"Hi Seokjin, this is Park Jimin again. How are you?"

"I am fine. Are you calling with an update?"

"Yes, and concerning it. I was able to get in touch with my boss, and he told me that after assessing all the harm that had been done to him and such, hold on for a second. Please wait a moment." As soon as Jimin spotted Jungkook waving at him, he immediately put the phone on mute.

"Tell him I went to the doctor, and in addition to getting stitches, I needed to get a tetanus vaccine."

Jimin tried to collect himself before continuing his conversation with Seokjin after unmuting the phone.

"I really apologize for that. So, as I was saying before, the person in charge of our company had to go to the doctor, and in addition to getting stitches, he had to receive a tetanus vaccine-"

"Oh no, is he okay?"

Jimin looked over at Jungkook, who had a smile on his face.

"I am not sure; that's a really good question."

"Wow, I need you to extend my sincerest apologies to your boss. I was unaware that he had sustained wounds of such a serious kind. I would be grateful if you could share the expense with me, and I will see to it that everything is taken care of."

"Thank you, I will let him know, and it's about $30,000. I know it's a lot, but his suit-"

"There's no need to be concerned about it at all. I told Bailey's owners about what happened, and they have no problem paying for whatever expenses arise. Could you kindly tell me the name the check should be made out to so that I may give it to them?"

Jungkook immediately got up from around his desk and signaled Jimin to hang the phone up.

Jimin was confused but followed his command.

"What did he mean by Bailey's owners?"

"I am not sure, sir; maybe the dog is not his."

"Then why did he have the dog?"

"I do not know."

"Because the dog in question is not his, he does not feel responsible for the damage it does to other people. What type of a person does he consider himself to be?"

Jimin heaved a sigh before continuing, "sir, he did seem pretty remorseful over the event and hearing of your nonexistent injuries."

"Are you mocking me?"

"What? No. I-I am sorry, Mr. Jeon." Jimin gave a slight bow of his head.

Huffily, Jungkook said, "give me his number and get me his address; I hate people who believe they are better than me."

Jimin was about to gather Seokjin's number for Jungkook when he got a text.

"Oh, Seokjin said, given your injuries, he will bring your coffee tomorrow. He said he is sorry and hopes the coffee can help you cheer up, if possible."

"Did he say what time? I have that flight tomorrow. Did you tell him that?"

"I did mention it would need to be early when I spoke with him earlier."

"Tell him again, it's possible that he did not understand the importance surrounding the timing."

Jimin nodded, "sure, I will do that, sir."

"Perfect, thank you, Park."

"Please call me Jimin, sir."

"Okay, Jimin. You can leave now, and good work today. You are doing a lot better than the last assistant I had. She quit without even telling me anything, so rude and unprofessional."

Jimin pressed his lips together, refusing to utter a word.
