Chapter Forty-Seven
"What do you think about trying these condoms?" Jin asked, smiling as he held up a colorful pack, the bold letters catching Jungkook's attention.
Jungkook's eyes widened in surprise, and he instinctively took the box from Jin's hands, glancing around the store to ensure no one was watching. He lowered his voice and whispered, "Please, let's not be so loud about this, Seokjin. There are other customers around us." He motioned subtly with his hands, clearly wanting to keep their conversation discreet while his cheeks flushed slightly.
Jin frowned, clearly frustrated. "What's the problem with it?" he asked, gesturing in annoyance. "We're married and have a child together. So what if people see us buying condoms? It's not a crime. I don't get why we should feel ashamed. It's a part of our lives, like any other part of marriage."
"I understand it's not a crime, Seokjin, and I never claimed it was. However, I don't want our purchases to draw attention," Jungkook whispered, still glancing around cautiously to ensure they were not being overheard by anyone nearby.
Seokjin sighed but said nothing.
"Should you wish for us to get these items along with the other selections we have previously made, I'm perfectly okay with that," Jungkook said, "However, I believe it is unnecessary for us to disclose this information to everyone else."
"Fine. Whatever you say, Jungkook," Jin finally conceded, his voice low as he accepted the situation. However, knowing Jungkook's dislike for when he used that word, he added, "But just to clarify, I don't mean 'whatever' in a dismissive way. I get your point about not wanting to broadcast our personal lives, especially letting others know that we are a couple that has sex."
With a roll of his eyes, he continued, "When I'm pregnant next time, I'm sure people will jokingly guess how it happened, maybe thinking it was some kind of magic trick."
"A magic trick cannot result in pregnancy, Seokjin. At least, to the best of my knowledge," Jungkook stated as he reached out to discreetly acquire another box of condoms, tucking it under his arm to shield it from the view of casual passersby in the store.
Jin's eyes narrowed as he took a moment to assess Jungkook with a look of amusement and mock seriousness. "Wow," he replied, feigning shock. "I would have never guessed. I guess I learn something new every day."
"I find it difficult to comprehend how this understanding has only emerged now, " Jungkook said, with a bit of confusion in his tone. He looked at Jin, his eyebrows creasing in disbelief. "We have a child together; her existence did not arise without cause or through some form of illusion." Jungkook's tone became serious as he struggled to grasp the sudden shift in his husband's logic that was not making sense to him.
Feeling frustration wash over him, Jin chose not to engage further in the conversation. Instead, he turned away, his expression hardening as he started to scan the store's aisles, searching for anything to distract him from the tension he knew would build if he stayed behind and listened to Jungkook any longer.
He had not gotten much farther down the next aisle when Jungkook appeared at his side, seemingly concerned. "Did I say something that may have caused you to be upset, Seokjin?" he asked. "If I did, I kindly ask that you communicate this to me. This is our honeymoon, and the thought of you being unhappy is difficult for me to accept. Therefore, please let me know so I can fix it."
Seokjin paused and turned to face his husband, his initial frustration disappearing as he saw the look in Jungkook's eyes. The furrow in his brow softened, and a sigh escaped his lips. "No, you didn't do anything wrong," he replied. "I was just being sarcastic, and I guess that flew over your head. But truthfully, it's nothing for me to be upset about."
He ran a hand through his hair, realizing how drained he felt. "I guess I'm just really tired and hungry. I also miss our daughter and Bam much more than I thought I would, especially considering it hasn't even been two days yet."
"I didn't realize you were being sarcastic; I apologize if I overlooked that," Jungkook admitted. "I'm still trying to grasp the nuances between your sarcastic comments and your serious statements. This is a work in progress for me, but I promise to make a better effort in discerning these things in the future."
He continued, his expression softening as he reached out and took hold of his husband's hand, careful not to drop the things he held in the other hand. "How about we go to the cashier and get these items checked? Following that, we can make our way to the resort where we will stay. You may take the opportunity to have a meal and rest briefly to rejuvenate."
Jungkook paused momentarily, trying to gauge Seokjin's mood as he wanted to make sure he was recommending something that would provide him with comfort. "Perhaps when you wake up, you'll feel more refreshed, and we can call your parents to check in on Seul. If you want, I can have my brother send a video of Bam to cheer you up. However," he continued thoughtfully, "I want you to know that it's perfectly fine if you'd prefer to return home instead. I'm completely on board with whatever it takes to help you feel better."
Jin let out a soft sigh, feeling a wave of regret wash over him for the bad mood he'd been in. He leaned forward, resting his head on Jungkook's shoulder, seeking comfort. "I'm really sorry for making a big deal out of nothing," he murmured. "I love this trip you so thoughtfully planned for us, and I don't want to ruin it. But I also think you are right, and it might help if I grabbed a bite to eat and then got some rest. That way, I can truly enjoy everything you've organized for us."
Jungkook looked at Jin, regret flickering in his eyes. "I do not believe you were making a big deal out of nothing," he admitted softly. "I should've realized you were tired and hungry after such a long flight. I managed to rest along the journey but did not think about how you felt. I should have been more considerate." He lowered his head and kissed Jin's forehead, savoring the moment but quickly pulling back, checking anxiously to ensure that no one around them was paying attention to their intimate exchange.

Jungkook felt more at ease after getting Jin's parents to send pictures of their daughter and his brother to send videos of Bam. He figured his husband would be happy to see them. He also contacted Jimin to cancel the dinner reservation, which he had arranged for him and Jin's first name, and instead opted for food to be delivered to their villa.
The sudden changes to the carefully planned itinerary took him by surprise. He had always valued the comfort and predictability of sticking to a schedule, especially when traveling. Everything for him usually had been carefully arranged in advance, allowing him to feel grounded and secure.
Yet, as he navigated through life and the changes over the past year, he gradually realized the importance of flexibility. He realized that life was no longer solely about his preferences and wishes; it also hinged on the wishes and needs of his husband, who sometimes had different perspectives on how to enjoy their time together.
This growing understanding was exactly why he was even more committed to continuing to attend his therapy sessions. In those safe spaces, he explored the complex emotions that often lingered beneath the surface. Therapy provided him with essential tools to process feelings that he previously found overwhelming or confusing.
Moreover, his relationship with Seokjin played a key role in his development. Seokjin accepted him and celebrated the unique qualities that came with his autism. This bond helped reshape his perception of himself and other things within his life; he began to see autism not as an obstacle or a flaw but as an integral part of his identity that improved his life.
He was learning more to embrace the different ways he experienced the world, acknowledging his differences while also appreciating the strengths they brought. Daily, he grew more comfortable in his own skin, transforming what he once viewed as burdens into defining traits that made him uniquely himself. He was also thankful that his husband was patient, accepting, and understanding, never forcing him to grow beyond his capabilities.
As Jungkook scrolled through the sea of pictures shared by Jin's parents, he found himself lost in his own world. He was surprised when Jin quietly slipped onto the sofa beside him, leaning against his shoulder. "What are you doing?" Jin asked, his eyes fixated on the screen of Jungkook's phone.
"Aww, she looks adorable!" Jin exclaimed, pointing to a picture that featured their daughter beaming with joy, her hair adorned with cute little bows. "Did you leave those bows for her hair, or did they get her those?"
Jungkook shifted slightly, ensuring Jin was comfortable against him. He wrapped his arm around him, pulling him closer as they focused on the screen. "I got her those," Jungkook replied. "Do you like them, Seokjin?"
Jin's face lit up with a smile, "I love them! She looks so precious. I miss her so much."
"I miss her too," Jungkook admitted. He turned his gaze toward Jin, wanting to check in on him. "How was your sleep? How are you feeling now?" he asked, genuinely concerned about his husband's well-being after his rest.
Pulling away from Jungkook for a moment, Jin extended his arms overhead, feeling the satisfying stretch in his muscles as he tried to shake off the lingering fatigue. After a brief pause, he settled back down beside Jungkook, a small sigh escaping his lips. "You know," he began, glancing over at Jungkook, "I feel a lot better, but I can still sense that my body is tired. How would you feel about staying in tonight instead of going out? I know we had that dinner planned, but honestly, the thought of going outside feels a bit overwhelming right now." His voice was soft and slightly apologetic, hoping Jungkook would understand his need for a quiet night in.
"I sensed that you might be experiencing some exhaustion, so I took the initiative to adjust our dinner arrangements," Jungkook stated. "Rather than dining out, I have arranged for dinner to be delivered to our villa, allowing us to enjoy a private evening together. We can enjoy the meal and, should you feel okay, we may also watch a movie before ending the evening with an early night's rest. What is your view on this?" He paused, observing Jin and awaiting his response.
Jin smiled and leaned in closer, planting a kiss on Jungkook's lips. "You are the best," he said, his eyes sparkling affectionately. "I love you so much, and I can't thank you enough for always thinking ahead like that."
He took a deep breath, still feeling a hint of guilt for interrupting Jungkook's carefully laid dinner plans. "I promise I won't disrupt our agenda for the rest of this trip. I know how much you prefer to stick to a schedule, and I want us to enjoy this trip just as you envisioned it for us."
He wished he hadn't caused a disruption to Jungkook's dinner plans, but he was feeling very jet-lagged. He knew this was because he didn't travel as often as Jungkook, especially since they had their daughter.
"I love you too, Seokjin, and I wish to emphasize that you are welcome to adjust any plans I have established, provided it enhances your comfort. This is our honeymoon, and it is important to me that we both enjoy this experience equally. Any moment spent with you is pleasant; therefore, changing the itinerary I have arranged will not be an issue, as I prioritize our time together."
Jin smiled joyfully, shifted from his seated position, and straddled Jungkook's lap. Their eyes locked for a moment, and Jin leaned in, capturing Jungkook's lips in a kiss. He then wrapped his arms around him, burying his face against his husband's chest. The steady rhythm of Jungkook's heartbeat was comforting, and Jin let out a content sigh, allowing himself to relax deeper into the embrace.
"I feel the same way, too," Jin whispered, his breath warm against Jungkook's skin.
The room felt calm and quiet as time passed, with only soft breathing. Jungkook, lost in the moment, glanced down to find Jin had fallen asleep. Smiling at the sight, Jungkook set his phone aside and drew Jin closer, his arms encircling him protectively, ensuring he slept as comfortably as possible.
Soon, Jungkook fell asleep, giving in to the calm and comfort surrounding them both.
