2 - Lost In Your Arms ( Literally)

An odd sensation pulled me out of my slumber; soft rustling and the scent of sleep and faint coffee clouding my head as soon as my drowsiness wore off.

It took me a moment to realize that I was laying in my bed. In my room.

My...room?

With gentle creaking, my door opened, Minnie stumbling in with a vicious grin, "Wake up, lazy fuck." - she threw an abandoned sock at me - "Your hubby came to pick you up."

"Hubby." I parroted sleepily, forcing myself out of the warm, cozy sheets.

"I can't believe you forgot him, idiot! Does your sister really have to remind you of your own dates??"

Dazed, I stared after her when she slammed the door shut behind, only catching a glimpse of her wagging ponytail before it went dark again.

"Have fun today, darling." Mom smiled at me, laughing lightly when I almost ran into the kitchen table once our eyes met. Waking that abruptly and having to go out right away didn't seem to be good for me.

"And tell your fling that he should never drive up our driveway again or I'll key his car." Dad added from the sofa, glaring at the closed door over the rim of his newspaper.

"It can't have been that bad." I mumbled lightly, picking up the scent of coffee and eggs stronger than ever while walking towards the entrance door.

I felt warm and sluggish, the walk outside was like an eternity.

"Oi, Chibi! Took you long enough!"

I understood why dad had been upset right away - Nirvana was playing on full blast, while Jungkook's head was hanging out the window of his dirty, black car which's model he'd probably explained to me a dozen of times, arm resting on top of the opened window. His long locks were lazily styled, if you could even call that styled, the upper two buttons of his flanell undone, revealing hints of a tanned, sturdy chest.

"What's up? You really trying to avoid your boyfriend that hard?" He gave you a crooked grin, playful spark in his eyes as he eyed you up and down, "Hurry up, silly."

A weird sensation overcame me when I saw him like that, making me approach the car slower than necessary.

Jungkook cocked his head to the side, "What's up, babe?"

"You look... good?"

"Aw, that's what got 'cha so confused? Or are you just getting nervous?" He reached out once I was close enough, pulling me down by the collar, "No need to be nervous, Chibi." He breathed, lips hovering over mine, "It's just me." He leaned in fully, sealing my lips with his in a warm, embracing kiss that made me feel like, yes, this was just him. Why was I acting like that?

"You're right, Kook." I pushed him away grinning, making him chuckle, "Let's go or Dad might set your car on fire."

He laughed out loud while I got in, the engine roaring alive as soon as I'd closed the door.

Jungkook was pissed. Deeply, thoroughly pissed. You could even say his mood was murderous.

How in hell did that happen? How in the fuck did she just disappear? When he was sleeping right fucking next to her?

Frustration crippled through his entire body as he flew past Yokohama's city ruins. Instead of admitting his raging fear of loosing her, he liked to channel these emotions into breaking bones or cracking skulls.

Concentrating on finding her instead of moping around confused was a lot more efficient anyways. The little nerd couldn't have gotten far either, at least that's what his inner Chickie-tracking-system told him. The problem was just - Yokohama was big and his girlfriend was pretty small, so where in hell should he start searching?

It was moments like these where he wished that phones were still a thing, so he could just call Namjoon and ask him for help. Or, even better, just fucking call her.

The blade of his scythe crashed into the head of some unlucky prowler, simultaneously serving Jungkook as a bumper to land comfortable on the flat roof of what once must've been a flower shop. If he could find her some flowers before reuniting? He glanced down curiously-

Aaaand Jungkook realized that Y/N might've been right when she told him that he was getting distracted too easily.

He slapped his cheek with his free hand once, sucking in a deep breath, "Okay, Jungkook. Concentrate." He grumbled determined, a little annoyed of himself.

He turned on his own axis once, eyes raking over the run down houses surrounding him - he'd let his gut decide where to go, wondered if this was a good strategy by Chickie-standards. Probably not.

He smiled to himself sufficiently, until he realized that he was yet again getting distracted by his own thoughts. Shit.

A few steps and he was at the edge of the roof, one more and he performed a semi dramatic Spiderman-style landing on the street below him, fanning his scythe out to regain balance quickly.

Finally focused, did he let his eyes slide over the street, scanning over loads of rusty trash cans, car wrecks and prowler corpses.

It was honestly disgusting, what the world had come to be - or at least what the cities had come to be. Nature, so Jungkook believed, was most likely recovering by now.

Wait a second- Jungkook squinted, pushing the thought of reeking human cities aside, -prowler corpses?

He may be stupid, but he was 100% sure that he hadn't been in this area before. So, who killed the freaks?

Once he looked out for it, he started seeing more and more of the corpses, forming something like a trail that he followed.

She wasn't far, Jungkook could feel it.

"Chickie? Oi, Chickie!" He jogged down the wet alleys, mind already back in their hideout, where he'd bundle her up in all the blankets they had, because fuck it was cold.

"Chick-"

"Dude, I got it. Now shut the fuck up or you'll attract more."

Jungkook's head whipped around, scythe milimeters away from the stranger's head the moment he had finished speaking. The only reason he refrained from splitting his brain in half out of mere reflex, was the possibility that the guy had something to do with Y/N.

"You're- you're not my girlfriend." Jungkook realized.

The stranger blinked, "I mean, I could be if you ask nicely."

Jungkook lowered the weapon, on guard nonetheless, eyeing the man who was leaning away from him with a mixture of shock and confusion.

He looked quite fit, with short, white hair that covered his forehead in shaggy bangs and a pair of round cheeks with lips that were tugged down in a displeased frown - granted, probably because Jungkook just almost beheaded him.

"Did you kill all these prowlers?"

"Prowlers??" White-Hair cackled.

"That's-" Jungkook sighed, „That's what my girlfriend named them."

"That's a stupid name."

"That's what I said as well!"

"I can't believe she went through with that."

The two men looked at each other for a few seconds, a sudden, deep sense of mutual understanding arising between them.

"I'm Hoseok."

"Jungkook."

"So, you're looking for that girlfriend of yours?"

"Yeah."

"And that's why you were running around, screaming from the top of your lungs?"

"Yeah."

"Could you PLEASE lower that fucking weapon?"

"..."

Hoseok sighed.

It was evident, even for Jungkook, that this man had no idea where Y/N was either, much to his distaste. He already considered leaving the stranger be and proceeding with his search, when a sudden spurt of curiosity Y/N must've implanted within him made him ask: "What in hell are you doing here all by yourself?"

Hoseok cocked his head to the side, crooked smile playing over his lips, "Surviving."

We all do, was what Jungkook wanted to say, this doesn't answer my question though.

He was well aware of how strange both must've looked to each other. Single people, all by themselves, in the middle of prowler mayhem.

"When have you seen that mysterious girlfriend of yours last?"

"Uh. Last night? In our hideout."

"And then? What happened?"

Jungkook looked at him a cluelessly, shrugging his shoulders, "Dunno. That's why I'm looking for her."

He felt strange, talking with this man like that. Under other circumstances would he not have bothered, would've treated this entire encounter with as much suspicion as it deserved - a lot suspicion, that is. But under other circumstances would Y/N also have been here with him, so...

"Why don't you go check in that hideout of yours? Maybe she came back by now?" Hoseok suggested, head still cocked to the side.

"N-" It made sense, honestly. He had assumed the worst from the start - maybe she was just temporarily gone. She did crave some alone space sometimes.

The way back happened in a flash- Jungkook dashed down the cold, wet streets, not taking in his surroundings when all he could think about was how there was a slight possibility that his little nerd was waiting for him. He didn't even care that Hoseok was following behind, miraculously keeping up with him.

Swiftly, he climbed up the emergency ladder, squeezing himself through the window she'd fallen through only yesterday and-

"Looks like she's not here." Hoseok, mind blowing genius, stated the obvious.

"Looks like it." Jungkook couldn't help but to sound disappointed. But really, he was at a loss - where, in the entirety of Yokohama, was he supposed to search?

His heart dropped even further when he threw a look outside, "Fuck, the sun's setting already." He hadn't managed to find her for almost an entire day. Who knows what had happened to her by now?

"Shit, dude, if only you wouldn't've made this stupid ass suggestion I wouldn't have wasted time." Precious time during which he could've saved her from who-knows-what, "Fuck you, honestly-„ Jungkook growled, swishing around, „If it wasn't for you-"

He stopped. Hoseok was sneering- white teeth flashing in the orange light falling through the single window, eyes hidden in the darkness sparkling as he grinned at Jungkook's frustration.

"Oh, you fucking bastard-" Jungkook realized, felt like banging his head against the brittle wall behind him. Of course a random stranger you just met in the middle of the fucking street, during the motherfucking, godforsaken apocalypse, was not there to help you.

He had mislead him on purpose.

This wasn't like his usual self. Jungkook never fell for other people's antics.

"Seems like you were a little too preoccupied with your little girlie."
