Izuku stood in front of the apartment door, hand held in a fist not too far from the door. Behind that door was a chance for him. In a world full of superpowers, he was powerless. But while the person behind that door couldn't give him a quirk, she could offer something different.
Her quirk allowed her to change someone's species, which included hybrids of two different species. She was fairly known in the undergrounds, by the name of Splicer. She'd help anyone for enough money, as long as it wasn't too illegal. Izuku was more than a bit wary because of that, but everyone who'd worked with her said that she was trustworthy as long as you paid her enough. Plus, Izuku wasn't going to ask for anything big or anything.
If she used her quirk on him, he could pretend to have a mutation quirk, and it would give him the benefits of said quirk, which would help him too become a hero. After all, someone without a quirk couldn't be a hero, All Might had said it himself!
He had some money with him from selling all his All Might merch, (he couldn't look at that face anymore, not without remembering that fateful day), and hopefully, it would be enough.
But the thing was, his mom didn't really know he was doing this. And once it was done, she'd know that something had happened. He could just say that he had randomly manifested a quirk, though. It would go along with his plan of pretending it was a mutation quirk.
He knocked on the door.
Silence.
After a few moments, the door opened up, revealing a tall, blond woman wearing tinted sunglasses. She just stood there for a moment, silently staring at him, before saying, "What do you want, kid?"
"Um..." Izuku started, "I uh... I was wondering if you could do something with your quirk for me? I have some money on me..."
Splicer hummed, before nodding, "Alright. You coming in, or what?"
Izuku was a bit surprised that it was that easy, but then again, it matched the description that he had found on her. He followed her in anyways, and she shut the door behind him. "So, what would a kid like you want from me? Want me to turn your bullies into flies?"
He winced at the suggestion, shaking his head, "No.. um, I was hoping you could use your quirk on me? To make it seem like I have a mutation quirk?"
Splicer looked mildly surprised, "Well, it's not often my client asks for me to use my quirk on them... Yes, I could do that. I'd presume you want to be a hybrid between a human and some other animal, then?" she paused, continuing at Izuku's nod. "Alright. Got anything specific in mind? Or even just something you wanna be able to do with it?"
He hummed in thought, "Well, uh... I wanna be a hero with it, if that helps any?"
"Hm.. Probably not something that would scare people much, then. How about a dog? People are pretty comfortable around them, for the most part, and they've got plenty of traits that'd be helpful as a hero."
"Uh.. Yeah, yeah that'd work" Izuku replied, and she chuckled at him.
"Just so you know, the more I use my quirk on someone, the more likely it is you'll die from it. So I'd suggest you make sure you want to do this before I use my quirk on you." She added, and Izuku nodded without hesitation.
"I'm sure."
Splicer shrugged, "Okay then. How much do you got?"
Izuku paused for a second, temporarily forgetting what she meant by that before nodding, pulling the money out of his pocket. It was sort of a lot, but he couldn't find any specifications of how much it'd cost, and plenty of the All Might merch he had were collector's items now, so he got quite a bit of money from it.
Splicer grinned, and grabbed around 5000 yen from his hand, "This'll be enough."
Then she poked him on the forehead, leaving her finger there as she closed her eyes. Izuku's eyes followed the finger, staring at it as it started to glow slightly. After a while, the glow stopped, and she removed her finger. "Aand done. Now, I should warn you, the exact breed is pretty unpredictable, but it's usually based on what you're like, so your personality won't be changed by it or anything. Also, the transformation is gradual, but it'll take a lot of energy so I'd suggest taking it easy until it's over. It should be over by the time you wake up in the morning"
Izuku nodded, "Right. Thank you so much!"
----
Izuku spent most of that day in his bedroom after that. It was the first day of summer break, so he didn't have to worry much about going to school for awhile, and Inko was at work so he wouldn't be too worried by the amount of time he was spending in there.
He used that time to work on some of his hero analysis, only half aware of how his body was slowly mutating.
What Splicer had said about it was right - Izuku felt absoulutely exhausted, and he hadn't even been doing anything physical the whole time!
The first thing that had changed was his feet. Honestly, Izuku was glad he'd removed his shoes, otherwise they'd be ruined. His feet were now shaped like paws, and they even had paw pads, also known as toe beans. It didn't take long for Izuku to decide he liked his toe beans. His toe nails had also changed to claws, and while they weren't a big deal now, they would probably be frustrating to cut later on. His ankles were raised, too, which proved to be difficult to walk with at first, though he eventually figured it out, more or less. At some point, his finger pads had changed into paw pads matching those on his feet. Luckily, his hands didn't change other than that, and the claws.
After that, his ears started to change, slowly moving to the top of his head and taking on a shape not unlike that of an Australian Shepard. He found that his hearing had started to improve as well, and he found himself needing to turn the volume on his videos down a bit.
A stump had started to grow on his lower back, which eventually grew into a (currently hairless) tail, which naturally folded on his back like a Samoyed's tail would.
At some point he went downstairs to have some dinner, and when he came back up he just wanted to take a nap, with how tired he was. So, he curled up in his bed, and after a bit of effort he started to doze off. It was fine if he went to sleep a bit earlier than he usually would. After all, he normally went to sleep before Inko came back when she was doing the shift that she was doing, and it wasn't like he needed to be awake for the transformation to work.
A/N
So incase it wasn't clear, Izuku is a mix between an Australian Shepard and a Samoyed.
Also, I have no regrets.
