• Chapter 2

A/N: (H/L) = Hair Length, (H/C) = Hair Color, (E/C) = Eye Color.

You awoke to an unfamiliar warmth around your body... one that was almost scary, but unusually comfortable. While you still contemplated your circumstance, a smell of pine needles tickled your nose.. you felt nostalgic. It was almost as though you had smelled the fresh scent of nature before, but you couldn't remember when.

You looked at the surrounding area, in hopes to find out where you were. You were in a small cave, surrounded by a snowy white area you didn't recognize... There were green pine trees standing at what you thought may have been over 50 feet in height. The sky was a light gray, with snow lightly falling to the ground... Just outside the cave seemed to be a small ledge. From your observations, you assumed you must've been on a mountain.

You turned your head back, to see the face of the creature that had captured you. It didn't seem to have facial highlights of any kind.. However, it appeared to be happy. You shook it off and relaxed into the body of the creature. Some of its tendrils wrapped around your stomach, holding you close to it. Humanity is scared of that which they do not understand.. you knew from a younger age. However, you couldn't seem to recall much else.. why? You tried to remember what your childhood was like. Who were your parents? Where did you live? Your head ached as you focused on things you could not remember. The head strain you were feeling made itself into a headache. the creature seemed to notice your stress and brushed one of its tendrils through your (H/L) (H/C) hair. You cracked a small smile, and blushed. After a few moments, the creature loosened its grip on you and stood up. You stood up with the extraterrestrial, looking upwards at it.

You were to distracted by other things to notice just how tall it was... It had to be at least Nine feet tall, which is still much taller than you are. Seeing the humanoid standing in front of you almost took your breath away... your entire perception of reality had been splintered with just that one experience. You could remember nothing but the stable place you thought the world was... but even that memory was in the past now. a small depression took over you for a quick second, before disappearing. looking outside for a moment, a gleam of hope shone in your bright, (E/C) eyes.

You noticed a suppression in your head.. as though all negative feelings were being pushed back and suffocated, leaving only the positive ones. You didn't mind... although you couldn't help but wonder what caused it. It may have been the creature.. but you weren't sure.

It walked towards the ledge perceived outside the cave, it's confetti-like strands flowing behind it. The small bit of sunlight that did hit the creature didn't seem to have an effect on it. No part of its body was highlighted by the sunlight. However, its body cast a large shadow in front of it. As the creature exit the cavern, you looked around the area. There wasn't much to look at inside the cavern, other than a layer of dirt and rock. It was your average, boring cave, as you thought. You wondered if something potentially more interesting would be outside, in the snow.

You gulped, and forced your way towards the icy ledge, being careful not to slip. You crouched down and peeked over the side. You saw what you had expected to; a wintery white field, and pine forests. You were a little disappointed by this. Perhaps if you travelled a portion further, you'd find something worthwhile? You dug your (longer than average) fingernails into the deep snow and slowly slid down and the greater distance down the ridge. You weren't too worried about getting back. You were only focused on finding what this situation might have in store.

You landed your feet onto the icy ground and trudged through the snow. You shivered as you felt it soak through your thin, orange pants. You turned left of the mountain, going down a narrow and twisted path. Whatever this creature was, it appeared to be an intelligent design of life... If it really designed these paths and could recognize human speech, it's possible the foundation had come upon something that the rest of mankind has been looking for, for centuries.

The downfall, however, was frustrating.

It revealed itself when material was acknowledged about it.. humanity would never be allowed to know of this new form of smart existence. In a a sense, you figured that made you special. You got away with revolutionary knowledge. You saw other activity as brilliant if not more than humankind.

"Hey.. 2521?" You called out, in a pathetic try to make the creature manifest.. Nothing happened. You quivered and tried again.

"Thing that manifests whenever you speak about it? Big... fuzzy, creature?"

You groaned in frustration, and decided it would be best to give up. You continued trudging through the thick snow in your boots. Snowflakes went on to land from the sky, some of it landing in your (H/L), (H/C) hair. It gleamed and stood out from your sad D-class uniform. From the corner of your eye, you caught a glimpse of a small pocket in the mountain. Looking at it from further away, it seemed quite tall. In comparison to Everest, it would appear puny and insignificant. However, the cave you had taken refuge in was not very far off the ground, compared to the vast size of the mountain in presence of your curious gaze.

You walked towards the small hole and studied the fallen pine from the trees. The tree's branches bellowed in the wind, like a graceful dance under a pale moonlight. You glanced backward and touched the left face of the entrance. You grazed your hand across the curved object and exhaled. Had you seen anything as beautiful as this scenery before?

You entered the shade, your greyish shadow disappearing behind you. You shivered and rubbed your blistered hands together for warmth. As much as you tried, you couldn't seem to feel heat from your body. Dry skin on your hands peeled off in clusters, disgusting you.

"Ugh.. nasty." you groaned.

You peered at the surfaces around you and sharply inhaled at the sight.

"What the hell?"

There were scribbled words on the otherwise blank sides around you. They were in an unfamiliar dialect.. one that almost seemed ancient. You paused and glanced behind you. There were more printed words, only told on a strangely shaped piece of stone. This time noted in a vocabulary you recognized. They appeared to be written in Chinese.. which you could not understand, but you were familiar with. underneath the paragraph, there was a rough sketch of what turned out to be the creature you had seen. You.. didn't want to admit it, but you missed it. A strange part of you wanted to see it again.. and then again. Why were you so intrigued by it? What part of it was so interesting to you that you threw away your life for it?

You were confused, but kept walking into the darkness of the cavern anyway... Hoping to find something. A narrow light shined through at the end of what looked like a long tunnel. Small inclines were common in the area as you found out. The terrain didn't appear to be untouched, as nothing formed itself a home in the abandoned cave. Not only that, but prints in the dirt also caught your eye. They were a lot larger than your average footprint.. you figured they must have been from the creature.

Squinting, you shaded your eyes. Walking alongside the footprints, the light at the end of the tunnel appeared brighter, as you moved towards it. After moving forward some more, you uncovered your eyes and looked around.

You saw a room. Not a finished room, but with all the redeeming qualities and properties of a normal room. Apparently unknown means illuminated it, and you could see even more written text on different stone tablets, and also on pieces of paper. from your understanding, written data of the creature went back thousands of years. However, there was no possible way of knowing if the creature had existed longer than that. The first complicated language appeared 30,000 to 100, 000 years ago. You didn't quite know what the creature would have done before being discovered, but it had to have another separate purpose.

you walked down three small steps and pressed your foot onto the stone floor. your walking pace slowed as you looked around at the papers on the floor. It must have strung some of them up on the walls as if to decorate the place. You walked over to a small piece of paper laying on the floor. It appeared ripped of a larger piece, and written in English, a language you could understand.

"They say him who is taken by the creature is dragged to the ninth level of hell." You read aloud.

You furrowed your brows again. Although you weren't in... wherever the hell you are now for that long, It hadn't felt like it trapped you, or that you were in the "ninth level of hell". You rolled your eyes and turned the paper around. There was more text written on the back.

"This is only a theory, though. Perhaps we will one day be living in our own version of hell, forced to keep quiet about our feelings." You read. There was more written down, but it was cut of by the supposed ripping of the page.

The written information got you thinking... Perhaps at first, it was incapable of understanding human language. It seemingly learned how to understand speech, before humanity even understood it. If this was true, would it learn how to understand pictures and symbols, like in its SCP document?

You guessed it would scare you, but you weren't. It would force the foundation, and everyone in it to keep quiet. You felt as though that would feel like torture. "Maybe they're right..." you thought. "Have I been freed of a burden?"

Whatever this creature was, it wasn't stupid. It seems to have an intimate understanding of human speech and behavior... not to mention its ability to render one unconscious. You thought at the least, this creature deserved a name, as every living being does. There's no way there're more creatures like him, otherwise the foundation would be swarmed with them every time they do so much as say '2521'

Something miniscule shone in the corner of your eye. You turned to your right and observed what looked like a shiny metallic object. You didn't quite know what it was, but you approached it anyway. You knelt down and picked it up. You sat on the ground and inspected it.

It was in the shape of a skipping stone... One that you might cross at a lake, or on the beach. You couldn't tell what material it was created of, but it had a light silver-like color, but you couldn't tell if it was made of silver. You brushed your fingertips across the back of the metal, feeling something engraved into it. You turned it around and saw nothing but an eight letter word.

"Tiberius?"

You saw black tendrils enter your vision.
