Tir'an (Part Two)
Takashi scrutinized the boy and internally struggled. He wanted to help him. He looked around and than got back on his feet. "Wait here. I'll be right back." Takashi went over to Shin. White looked after him. "...?", "Shin." Takashi stopped in front of him. "Mh?" The black-haired guy turned his attention to him. "What's the matter?", "Sorry when this comes out of the blue, but... you see that boy over there?" He made a move with his head to indicate the direction. Shin looked at the white-haired child for a moment. "Yeah, I do. Why?", "He seems so lonely.", "Everyone of these kids secretly does, don't you think?", "Eventually, but he doesn't even have a name!" Shin tilted his head. "...Could you please get to the point?", "I feel deeply sorry for that kid. Why don't we take him with us?", "You gotta be kidding me." Shin sighed. "Takashi, we talked about this earlier, didn't we? We ain't ready yet. And you know you can't just say 'I'm feeling like it so I choose some random child and take it home'. Children are no abandoned pet you can just take home.", "I am aware of that.", "And besides..." Shin folded his arms. "Adoption requires a lot of money. We'd have to get in touch with adoption agencies and stuff, it would take some time. It's not like I don't wanna have a kid but still-", "Please, Shin." Takashi said. "That kid needs a family." Shin sighed. "You've always been such a stubborn guy..." He gave in. "Fine. But we'd have to get an agreement from Mrs. Ito first. We have to fill in an application.", "I'll do that." Takashi smiled. Shin shook his head. "Just to remind you, you were the one who wanted to let more time pass before we actually adopt a kid... it's fascinating how fast you can change your mind." Takashi snickered. "Probably..." Then, he went back to White. "Hey, listen, little one...", "Huh?" White looked up to him. Takashi squatted down in front of him. "I talked to Shin just a moment ago and we made a choice. We are going to adopt you." White tilted his head. "...Uhm... that means... what exactly?", "We will be your new family and we won't abandon you, I promise." White looked at him in silence. "..." Then, he smiled. "Will I get a name then?", "You sure will." Takashi smiled. White giggled. "Thank you, mister.", "Don't call me like that." Takashi signaled his refusal. "We won't be able to instantly take you with us, we have to do some stuff before... But I promise you, it won't take long. Now, you have a reason to wait." White smiled. "I will wait for you!" Takashi patted his head. "Heh..." Shin watched them. '...Takashi really seems to like this kid...' He smiled. 'And the kid seems to like him... That's good...'
During the adoption process, the two came to visit White some days. Shin took an instant liking to the boy, just like Takashi did before.
One year later, the two men had completed the entire process including the homestudy and all the tests necessary. On one day in July, they returned to Rose Garden Orphanage. Mrs. Ito greeted them. "Hello." She greeted them. "G'day, Mrs. Ito." Takashi gave her a document. "We're done with all the stuff." She looked at the document and nodded. "White would be so happy, wouldn't he?", "I hope." The man with the bright green eyes smiled. "Come on in." Mrs. Ito waved at them. The two came in. White was standing at the window and looked at the door when they entered. He walked towards them. "...You really came back.", "I told you, didn't I?" Takashi smiled. White nodded. "You did.", "He was really waiting for you..." Mrs. Ito said smiling. "Now then, White, say hello to your new parents." White raised his hand. "Hi!" Takashi snickered. "Hi.", "Hello." Shin nodded towards him. "Will you give me a name now?" White asked. "I wanna know how it's like to have one!" Takashi laughed. "Sure, but I have no idea for one..." Looking for help, his eyes went to Shin. Shin returned his look. "...Why me?", "Why not?", "Dude, I'm even more uncreative than you.", "I doubt that." Shin rolled with his eyes. "Gimme a sec, I needa go into my memory palace.", "Take your time." Shin started thinking. He even started walking up and down. After a while, he stopped. "What about Hirato?" he suggested. "'Hira' means something like 'even' or 'equal'... also 'balance' and 'peace'. And 'To' means 'gate'.", "I maybe shouldn't ask where you know that from." Takashi laughed. Shin looked at him with a grin. "Hirato..." White repeated the name. "I guess I like it...", "Wanna have it?" Shin asked. White nodded. "Yes!", "Now then..." Shin smiled towards him while tousling through his hair. "Welcome to the Funai family, Hirato!" White laughed. "Yaaay!!" Mrs. Ito took a pen and write down that name on the document. "That's settled then. I'll hand over the care of this young boy to you now." Takashi smiled. "Thank you, Mrs. Ito." Then, he held his hand out to Hirato. "Come." Hirato took his hand and smiled like a cheshire cat. Takashi guided him out and towards their car. They all got on and Shin drove off.
When they arrived at their house, Hirato was full of surprise and his eyes became as big as plates. "Whoa! That house looks pretty!", "Come on in." Shin smiled and unlocked the wooden door. They entered and Hirato immediately noticed the floor with the gray tiles and the wooden stairs leading up right next to the entrance. The stairs were covered by blue mats. The tiles in the kitchen he could see from here were different colored... rather beige. And the living room had a wooden laminate floor. "Wow! That looks so different from the places I've been in before!" He said in fascination. "That's awesome!", "Take off your shoes and follow me upstairs." Takashi ordered him. Hirato nodded and did as said. Takashi lead him upstairs to a pretty tiny but comfortable room. It had a bed and a wooden laminate floor too, a wooden desk and a wardrobe that was taking the entire space at the wall next to his bed. All in all, he had enough space to move and his room wasn't wide and empty. "This will be your room." Takashi said. "...We didn't know what color you wanted to have your room in, so we left the walls white. One of them can be painted in a color of your preference, if you like. What's your favorite color?", "Red." Hirato replied. "Red like... like blood. I like the color..." Takashi smiled. "So, you want to have one wall painted red?" Hirato nodded. "That's no problem. Be happy that I run a company, so we have enough money to finance all this. Do you like your room?" Hirato nodded. "Yes! It's much more comfortable than the room I had... I had to share it with three other children and they were so noisy...", "Here, nobody will disturb you." Hirato sat down on his bed. "Oh...! It's so soft!" Takashi smiled and sat down next to him. "Was your matress hard?", "Yeah... It wasn't really comfortable at all..." He smiled. "Thank you so much, Mister Funai!", "You can call me by my name." Takashi said. "You don't need to call me Mister." Hirato nodded. "Okay, Takashi!", "Dinner's up at six, until then, you can do whatever you like, okay?", "Yepp, okay!"
The food was something Hirato had never eaten before and he felt like being in heaven because it was so damn good. His adoptive parents were the nicest people in the world and his room was just great! In the evening, when he lay in bed, Takashi came to him. "We've signed you in for primary school. You're seven now, which means you go one year later to any school than usual kids do, but that won't be a problem." Hirato nodded. "Okay...", "Want me to read something out to you?" Takashi asked. "You can't read on your own, can you?" Hirato shook his head. "Please, read something out to me.", "Okay. Wait a minute." Takashi left the room and later came back with a book. "That's Grimm's Fairy Tales." He sat down at the edge of Hirato's bed and opened it. "Now then... I'm going to read out Hansel and Gretel, that's a very popular one." He started reading. Hirato listened to him with huge attention. When he was finished, Takashi softly stroke over the little boy's head. "Sleep now. Okay?" Hirato nodded. "I will.", "Shall I leave the lights on?", "No, turn them off." Hirato said. Takashi nodded and stood up. "Okay. Sleep well, little one." He smiled and then left the room.
