Lucifer (Part Two)
As he grew up, Lucifer spend much time in Kami's library, studying on magic use. When he was sitting at a table with a book in front of him, one of the other angels entered. It was Curiel, an angel with long, brown hair and a white robe. She stopped next to him. "You are studying again?", "Yepp." The now twelve-years old Lucifer nodded. "On what are you studying?", "Magic Fingerprint Analysis." he responded. "...That's a pretty tricky one to learn. Are you sure you want to do this?", "I give myself a little challenge! The sooner I start learning it, the better!" Curiel chuckled. "Wow, you're fired up, aren't you?" Lucifer nodded. "Yep!" The door opened again and Gezuriya, an angel with long, hazel-colored hair and same-colored eyes entered. "I knew I would find you here, little one." She smiled. "Kami wanted you to come to her." Lucifer looked at her. "What does she want?", "I don't know. I didn't ask her. She just demanded me to tell you she wants to see you." Lucifer nodded and closed the book. "Okay." He put it back into its shelf and left the library.
Kami was standing in front of the gate to Eden. When Lucifer came to her, she smiled. "You've been very diligent the past days, right?" she asked. Lucifer nodded. "Yep!", "That's good." Kami patted his head and then turned around. She entered the garden of heaven and went throughout the vast fields of different flowers ending at the horizon where the grassy hills and overgrown mountains rose up to the azure sky above. Blossoms of blooming cherry trees drifted through the air. Kami went across a bridge leading over a clear brook that rushed into distance. She stopped on the other side. "I want to teach you a spell." she said. Lucifer stopped next to her. "A spell? What spell?", "It's called Angelic Core Separation." Kami replied. "It's a spell I have created a long time ago, when Curiel as the first angel was born." Lucifer nodded. "Okay...?", "You know that every angel carries something inside their bodies, right? An Angelic Core." Lucifer nodded. "Yeah, I know that.", "It's purpose is to purify an angel's soul if its haunted by broken thoughts and dark feelings. However, if they really get lost, the core's power will probably be overloaded and it would destroy the angel's body... That's what I created this spell for." She looked at him. "I want to teach it to you. If one of the other angels loses his way and the core won't be able to save them anymore, then, it's your task to rescue them from their darkness. Separate the core from their bodies and bring them back to themselves." Lucifer looked down. "I don't know, that sounds like a burden to me I can't take...", "You can take it, Lucifer." Kami smiled at him. "However, there's one thing you always got to remember. Never use this spell on yourself. If you do, you abuse its original purpose. In that case, you have to pay a price you don't want to pay. So always remember. You are the savior. But in case you need to be saved, I will save you." Lucifer hesitated and then nodded. "Okay, if that's what you want me to be, I won't reject. Teach me the spell, Kami!" Kami nodded. "Alright."
When Lucifer reached the age of 19, Kami called all of her angels together. "...Something unfortunate has happened in Aphadrim." she said. "The humans are terrorized by creatures of pure evil.", "What creatures?" Maeril questioned. "...Demons." Kami responded. "Beings that live only to spread suffering, pain and sadness over the world... beings that only live to destroy what we want to save so dearly.", "That sounds like a lot of trouble to me." Lucifer remarked. "Where did they come from?", "I don't know. That's a detail that really makes me concerned." Kami said. "But nevertheless, these creatures have to be exterminated or they will wipe hope and happiness from this earth like a dust particle from a windowsill. We will go to Aphadrim straight away and slay them to save mankind." The angels nodded. "Alright."
When they arrived in Aphadrim, the city was burning. Lucifer stood on one of the skyscrapers, next to the white-haired angel Tiriara. "Fire..." she said. "They seem to be very powerful...", "This is not supposed to halt us." Lucifer said. "You heard what Kami said, they do evil things to the world. Come on, we have to take action before it's too late." Lucifer materialized his trident in his hand- a shimmering black weapon with three pointed ends. His white wings appeared and he jumped down. Tiriara followed him, drawing her sword. The demons where rampaging in the city. They looked like humans, except of these unnatural red-glowing eyes and the pointed ears they had. Maeril and Gezuriya where fighting against a bunch of them already while Curiel was holding some off further in the south. Lucifer landed on the ground. He charged forward and pierced some near demons with his weapon without difficulties. "Lucy, behind you!" Tiriara yelled. Lucifer turned his head and saw a demon flying right towards him. "Not with me." He raised a hand and shot a beam formed of cosmic energy towards it, piercing its chest. The demon screamed and fell down, dying in its own blood. Lucifer turned his trident to kill two other demons. "Tiriara, you should go and support Curiel! I'm gonna head further into the east and clear the ways there!", "You can't go alone!" Tiriara contradicted. Lucifer shook his head. "No. I can do it and I will do it. Don't worry about me. Kami is fighting in the west, so it's all fine. If I need support, I'll give you a signal. Until then, don't worry." Tiriara nodded. "Okay..." Lucifer smiled at her before he pushed his way through to a street leading to the east.
It didn't need long until he met a demon with strong, radiating force. She looked like a young girl with dark brown hair tied to two pigtails. Her dress was torn. When Lucifer arrived, she looked at him. "...So. You heavenly scum have finally arrived here. ...Just not for what I prayed you to." Lucifer tilted his head. "What exactly are you talking about?", "I was a little girl who's parents died from a deadly disease... And nobody wanted to help me. I was chased away, bruised, abused... and I kept praying to you to save me. But you didn't hear me... now look what my suffering made me." Lucifer tightened his hand around his trident. "Who are you?", "The name's Lilith." the girl replied. "And just to make this clear, all these demons are my friends. I'll make them spread the same kind of suffering to the world like the world has given to me." Lucifer looked down. "...Kami would never ignore the suffering of a kid...", "But she did." Lilith raised her hand. "She calls herself a god, but she's a cruel god." Lucifer looked at her. He didn't notice any kind of lie in her voice. He could hear the bitterness. She seemed thin, as if she didn't eat so much and her dark eye bags and pale skin showed she wasn't healthy. "...", "But now, I can finally avenge myself." Lilith meant. "Because... she has ignored me. She had left me in my hell. So now, I will bring hell to her!!" She raised her hand. "Be ready... to be destroyed!!!" Lucifer looked at the blood dropping from his trident. This was not right... it FELT not right. There was something to it that made it feel so wrong... Was this really the right way? "It were the humans that brought suffering to you, right?" Lucifer asked. Lilith nodded. "Their ignorance was what caused it in the first place. Their taunt has taken my humanity and my reservation as well." Lucifer closed his eyes. "I am deeply sorry this had to happen to you.", "Spare yourself your monstrous lies." Lilith said. "Be crushed by my power of destruction!" Something came rushing towards them from the left. Seconds later, Kami's bright light sword pierced Lilith from behind. The demon spat blood and her eyes widened in shock. Kami pulled out her weapon and the demon fell to the earth. Dead. "Are you alright, Lucifer?" she asked. Lucifer nodded. "Yeah, I am..." They could hear a female voice from somewhere. "Retreat!! Retreat now!!" Suddenly, all the demons dove away into the shadows and disappeared. Kami looked around. "...They've been driven away for now, but they will come back... We should go back too. We're going to continue this war on another day.", "Kami?" Lucifer sought for her look. Kami's beautiful, violet eyes met his. "What's the matter, dear?", "Is this really right?" he asked. "Killing them like this? Is it really the right thing to do?", "Do you have doubts?" She asked. Lucifer pressed his lips against each other and nodded. "... I don't know... it's what Lilith told me.", "You call that filthy demon by her name?", "She was human once." Lucifer shook his head. "...She was one of these people that remained unheard by you. She had suffered and that's what gave rise to the demon inside her..." Kami shook her head. "I never thought you fell for the words of a demon.", "It's not like I really do." Lucifer defended himself. "It's just... she seemed honest. And it's strange that the demons appear just now, where sickness and poverty is common in this city." Kami went past him. "Demons shall never be allowed to exist. They are the core of all evil. We are here to save the world, and that's what we do." Lucifer looked after her. He knew she was right but somehow... it tore him apart from the inside. His heart told him this was not fair at all. This was not... just... Were demons even evil? Or were they just made that way? They had hearts too. Things that mattered to them, things they fought for. No one was born evil... were they really corrupted beings...?
We aren't allowed to determine who is allowed to live and who isn't... everyone has a right to live, it's up to them what they do with that right. We shall not be permitted to judge over them, unless we know what moves them. We are supposed to save this world and its people. So there also must be a way to save the demons, mustn't there? If there is a way... then, I will try to find it. The war we fight against them... it's meaningless. Anger blinds people, but wouldn't we do the same if we were in their place? Are we even allowed to claim they are evil when we won't empathize with them, even if we should? If we simply refuse to try understanding them? I don't think so...
