"The threat these demons pose is banned. For now." Kami said when they all where back in the castle. "But they won't stay in the shades and hide. We have to hunt them down. For good." Lucifer had washed the blood from his weapon and looked at the ground. "That's what you will do in the future.", "Alright!" Maeril nodded. "We will do as you wish, Kami-sama!" She bowed to her. So did the others. Lucifer's thoughts were far away. He didn't even really perceive what they said. He only startled when Kami put a hand on his shoulder. The others had already left. "What's wrong, Lucifer? You seem lost in thought." Lucifer shook his head. "It's nothing..." he replied. "It's just... I..." He clenched his hand to a fist. "...I don't want to kill demons anymore. I am just not right with this." Kami raised his chin and made him look into her eyes. "Oh, Lucifer... you're heart is way too kind. Listen, darling... I will respect your decision. But sympathizing with demons isn't a solution either. There will come a day when you have to decide on what side you take. The light side or the dark side.", "I will follow my heart." Lucifer said. "And if my conscience doesn't agree with anybody's aims, than so be it. If it's necessary, I will be on nobody's side. I just don't wanna have this blood on my hands." Kami nodded. "I will respect that, darling. Just don't forget what you're here for." Lucifer nodded. "I won't..."

Some days later, Lucifer was wandering through the streets. The demons' corpses had been removed, but the traces of destruction were still visible. Some houses were crumbled to pieces and the wreckage was blackened by soot. "Poor people... and poor demons..." Lucifer mumbled. Again, his thoughts drifted away when he suddenly heard someone cursing. "Damn you!" A man with black hair banned to a ponytail rushed over the houses, jumped from roof to roof and held a rapier in his hand. Hos red eyes again and again wandered over his shoulder. He was obviously a demon. He stretched out his hand. "Earth Spear!" Something formed in his hand and he threw it at someone who was apparently chasing him. That someone dodged. It took Lucifer a while to realize it was Maeril who was hunting the demon. She dodged the earth spear with a light sword in her hand. „Run, run and survive~" she laughed. „You won't escape me, demon!" The black-haired stopped running. „Grrr... Rock Slide!" Rocks formed above her and fell down. She dodged them while flying. „Not enough! Hayaaahh!" She emitted a light beam that hit the demon's chest. He crashed against a house wall and groaned from the impact. „Damn you...", „Now perish, creature of darkness!" Maeril charged at him, her sword ready to stab that demon, as Lucifer suddenly intervened. He appeared out of nowhere in front of the strange demon as he froze time for a brief moment and blocked Maeril's sword with his trident. „Stop it, Maeril!" The other angel looked at him in surprise. „What the... why are you getting in my way, Lucifer?" Lucifer pushed her back. „This is wrong!" The strange demon behind him straightened up and held his shoulder. He stared at Lucifer in disbelief. „What in the world... Why are you...", „Those creatures are killers, Lucifer. They have to be exterminated!" Maeril said. „They are struggling to survive, that's all there is to it." Lucifer responded. „They kill because they have no other choice left! How can you be fine with this?", „I am simply carrying out orders. It's not within my power to decide whether it is right or not. I'm fully devoted to Kami and will do everything for her pleasure.", „Even if that means it's wrong?", „It ISN'T wrong, Luci!" she hissed. „Oh, it is and you know it damn well. You are wearing blinders. Why are we supposed to kill demons for what they are? It ain't their fault! What's wrong with wanting to live like everyone else?", „They are not permitted to exist.", „And who has the right to decide upon who's allowed to live and who isn't?" Lucifer asked slightly furious. „Kami may be the goddess, but it's her duty to be there and save everyone! Doesn't that count in the demons, as well?", „No. Because they are an error. A bug that has appeared in this world and that has to be fixed.", „Wha..." Lucifer's jaw dropped in disbelief. „How can you...", „Get out of my way, Lucifer." Maeril demanded. Lucifer stubbornly shook his head. „No.", „Get out!!" Maeril swung her sword at him. „I am awfully sorry for what I have to do now... Distortion!" Lucifer sped his own movement up and his fist landed in Maeril's stomach before she was even able to raise her light blade. The power of the acceleration hurled her back and against a wall. „I won't let you", Lucifer said. „This world keeps a place for everyone. Not just for us. We have no right to judge upon that.", „Traitor..." Maeril growled and narrowed her eyes. Then, she left without a word. Lucifer turned around to the demon. „Are you hurt badly?", „I'm fine", he responded and scrutinized Lucifer mistrustfully. „Why did you interfere? Aren't you one of them?", „I am. But I also am the one Kami wished for to save everybody. That includes you too, doesn't it? I am not willed to carry out those orders anymore if they stab my conscience..." He shook his head. „Hide yourself away. Go." The demon, still having his rapier in his hand with which he could've stabbed Lucifer right this instant, hesitated before putting his weapon away. „We won't ever forget what you've done..." he said. „Nor will I forget favors. I think I have to thank you for having saved my butt. But don't let that grow upon your head." With those words, he rushed away. 'Strange... this time, it doesn't feel any wrong at all... It felt like the right thing to do...This wasn't wrong, was it? Is was right...' Deep in thought, he opened a gate to Ainu again and went back. But when he entered Kami's castle, the goddess was already waiting for him. Her expression was not amused. "Lucifer." she said. He looked at her. "Hmh?", "You protected a demon", she said. "I know." Lucifer nodded. "But... I don't think it was wrong to do it in this case. To be honest, it doesn't feel wrong at all.", "You disobeyed my orders!" Kami said. "You tainted yourself! You betrayed the laws of heaven.", "Excuse me?! I did not!" Lucifer contradicted. "The task of ours is to protect everyone, is it not?! So how do we wanna do that if we exclude demons from that?", "You're disappointing me." Kami shook her head. "What you did is unforgivable. You committed a crime. An angel is never supposed to have blood on their hands. The blood of having protected a murderer.", "But I already had before! When I killed the demons! That wasn't wrong in your point of view? The ten commandments say killing is wrong! And killing demons is right then?!", "Demons are the personified evil in this world. Creatures that rose from the shadows. Creatures that were never supposed to live. Creatures that DISTURB the order of life!", "That's nonsense!!" Lucifer shook his head. "What's wrong about wanting to live, no matter what you are? What's wrong about that demons want to live?!", "They shall never be allowed to. They sow wickedness into every person's hearts and it will spread like an illness. And that's all I have to say. Lucifer... you disappointed me. Come to me!" The door opened and the other angels came to them. "What is this going to be?" Lucifer asked. The five angels positioned themselves around Lucifer and stretched out their arms. Light barriers formed around Lucifer. "What...?!", "Lucifer." A magic circle appeared underneath him. "As the goddess and mistress of heaven, I will judge over your betrayal! You shall become what you took party for... With this, I will make you a demon!!" Pain arose in Lucifer's chest as he gasped. He clawed his hand in his chest and fell on his knees. "This is... this is not.... ARGH!!!!" His body trembled and he coughed. Light started circulating around him and he felt how it was burning his facial skin. His blonde hair started turning black little by little. He convulsed himself and screamed. His eyes were wide open and turned bloody red. Curved, red horns grew out of his head and his fingernails lengthened a slight bit. "S-Stop it!!" He hissed. "It hurts!!!" The blonde color of his hair was now entirely replaced by black. He screamed again when the pain faded. "Ugh...!" Lucifer coughed and breathed heavily. The burn marks had left two scars underneath his left eye and a lightning-shaped one on his cheek. "I will banish you from Ainu." Kami said. "I will send you straight into the depths of hell. Fall away!!" She made a movement with her arm and the world around Lucifer turned completely black.
