37⚡ Its okay

True love is selfless and it is prepared to sacrifice...

The Titans had returned from the USA after a month. There had been a lot of work to do since S had taken over the Dark Squads. She had ensured that Kai's death was slow and excruciating, savoring every moment of his suffering. At the same time, she had to manage the official tasks involved in running the newly conquered gang. The underworld couldn't help but pity the broken remains of the Dark Squads. It had been inevitable—no gang could survive once they made the fatal mistake of crossing the Titans. Still, S found it amusing that Kai had lasted as long as he did.

After landing, their private jet taxied to a halt, and the gang quietly prepared to leave the airport. They were headed to one of the Jeons' many mansions in Korea. With so many properties under their control, losing one was never a problem. Yet, for Sri, the mansion they had lost in the attack had meant something more. That house was not just another base—it had been her home. She had grown up within its walls, and leaving it behind felt like leaving a piece of herself behind as well.

The ride to their new mansion was quiet. Sri sat in the backseat of her car, her gaze distant as she stared out the window. The soft hum of the engine was the only sound inside the vehicle. The driver kept his eyes on the road, sensing her desire for silence. Jungkook rode in the car ahead of hers, while the rest of the convoy followed closely behind. They were all worn out from the long journey, their bodies craving rest after the grueling tasks of the past month.

But their hopes for some peace were shattered the moment flashing blue and red lights appeared ahead, blocking the road. Police vehicles had formed a barricade, cutting off their path. The sudden interruption broke the silence inside Sri's car, her eyes narrowing as she leaned forward slightly.

The driver tensed, gripping the steering wheel as he waited for her command. Jungkook's car came to a halt just a few meters in front of them. The gang members in the convoy exchanged glances, hands drifting instinctively toward hidden weapons.

S's jaw clenched, her expression unreadable. She knew this wasn't a random checkpoint—it was a calculated move, and they were the target. "Looks like sleep will have to wait," she murmured coldly, her voice laced with annoyance but also a dangerous edge.

( the bridge)

"S, come out of your car and surrender!" a mechanical voice commanded through the police megaphone. "Or we will use force."

S scoffed, rolling her eyes in annoyance. Stepping out was not part of her plan. She sat still, watching the officers as they began to count from one to ten.

The moment they reached ten, gunfire erupted. The police didn't hold back, and neither did the Titans. But this time, the officers were better prepared. They fired from helicopters, raining bullets down from the sky.

Through the shattered windows of his car, Sri saw Jungkook open fire, his aim steady and lethal. One of the helicopters burst into flames, spiraling out of the sky before crashing with a deafening explosion. She smirked. At least he was having fun.

But just as she allowed herself a brief moment of satisfaction, the glass of her own car exploded with a sharp crack. Instinctively, she shielded her face with her arm. When she dropped her hand and opened her eyes, the cold muzzle of a gun was already pressed against her forehead.

She clenched her jaw in frustration. There was no way out—not yet. With no other option, S slowly opened the car door and stepped down, her hands raised in surrender.

The sight that greeted her was grim. Nearly a hundred policemen surrounded her, their weapons trained solely on her. She knew exactly what they were thinking—if the boss falls, the whole empire collapses. None of the other Titans mattered to them. She walked calmly to an open space, her smirk never faltering.

"Surrender yourself, S!" That voice was familiar. Too familiar. S's eyes narrowed as Hoseok stepped forward from the crowd.

"Guess I made a mistake letting you live," she chuckled darkly, her voice dripping with mockery.

"Save it," Hoseok snapped. His glare was as sharp as a blade, cutting through the cold air. "You'll have plenty of time to talk once you and your little gang are locked up."

"And what proof do you have?" she asked, her voice steady but dangerously low.

"My eyes are all the proof I need!" Hoseok barked.

Sri's lips curled into a sly grin. "Both of us know the law doesn't work that way."

Hoseok clenched his jaw and pulled out a folder from his coat. "That's why I've got this." He fanned out pictures of crime scenes and handed over a signed warrant from the President himself.

Sri's grin didn't waver, though her eyes darkened. Damn Namjoon... he was supposed to clear all the evidence. But somehow, the police had been one step ahead.

"You really think I'm going to go down that easy?" she said, her grin widening just enough to unsettle Hoseok.

"There's no way you planned for this," Hoseok sneered. "This was a surprise operation. You've got no backup. All your men are dead."

Sri arched a brow, her smirk deepening. "Are you sure about that?"

Hoseok's confidence wavered. His grip tightened on his gun, but before he could react, something cold and metallic pressed against the back of his skull.

"Drop your weapon," Jimin ordered quietly, his voice void of emotion.

Hoseok's heart pounded in his chest. The muzzle of Jimin's gun rested firmly against his head, ready to fire at any moment.

Two officers beside Hoseok barely had time to react before silenced shots rang out, and they dropped dead, blood pooling beneath them. In the blink of an eye, more officers began falling, struck down by invisible shooters hidden in the shadows.

Hoseok's partner, Soobin, gripped his gun tighter, fear flashing in his eyes. He scanned the area, desperate to protect his team, but the Titans were relentless.

"Beomgyu! JK!" Soobin whispered urgently, spotting Jungkook crouching by a nearby car, reloading his weapon. Beomgyu nodded, and with Hueningkai and Taehyun by his side, they began sneaking toward Jungkook, hoping to catch him off guard.

Meanwhile, S her gaze locked on Hoseok. "Put the gun down," she commanded, her voice disturbingly calm.

Hoseok gritted his teeth. "You think I'm afraid to die?" he spat.

S responded with a slow, deliberate movement, drawing a hidden revolver from her belt and aiming it directly at Soobin's chest. "You have until the count of three," she announced coldly. "Then your superiors will start dropping like flies."

"1."

The officers around her hesitated, sweat beading on their brows. Their grips on their guns slackened, but no one dared to lower their aim just yet.

"2."

Hoseok's breath hitched. He clenched his fists, his mind racing. Soobin kept his eyes on Hoseok, waiting desperately for a decision.

"3."

As if by instinct, the police officers' grips loosened, and one by one, they began to lower their weapons.

"Keep your aim! We will catch her no matter what! Even if it costs my life!" Hoseok screamed which earned him a punch from Jimin.

"Too brave huh?!"

"3!" Sri smirked when she imagined the dead bodies of the police. Jungkook had probably called for backup by now.

"STOP!!" A familiar voice stopped her. Her heartbeat increased when she saw a particular brunette making his way through the traffic. She blinked to shake off her emotions after seeing him.

"Taehyung?" She whispered her eyes locked with his running form. The dark orbs were filled with pain. The doctor reminded her of forbidden happiness and love. She thought she had left everything behind. She had made sure Taehyung would hate her. She didn't know Jungkook had played an upper hand.

In a fraction of a second, she was engulfed in a tight hug. The policemen stood like a statue and watched the scene unfold infront of them.

Taehyung felt like he got back his lost soul after pulling Sri in his embrace. "I am sorry. I am so sorry!!" He sobbed and buried his face in her shoulder.

Fuck you Jungkook! She mentally cursed her brother. But she would be lying if she said she didn't miss the doctor's touch. She felt his heartbeat, she smelled his sweet cologne. Everything came crashing down at his enbrace. She unknowingly wrapped her arms around his torso, the gun was still in her grip.

"I love you, Sri. Please forgive me." His voice vibrated in her neck.

"It's okay... I love you too. But we can't be together." She whispered back. "You cannot be with me. This is not your life."

"Screw life! I just want to be with you. Surrender, for now, I promise to get you out very soon. Then we can have a happy life. Please I can't live without you."

"Taehyung, you know I'll die but never surrender. Please don't make it hard for me. Forget me. Imagine we never met." Taehyung tightened his hug in return. He feared she would disappear if let go.

Hoseok eyed Soobin. S had forgotten her target. Soobin slowly took out his gun. She saw what Soobin was trying to do. She knew the bullet won't kill her. The police wanted her alive. But she had to make sure Taehyung was not a part of this mess. He was siding a criminal and could be jailed for that.

Jimin saw Soobin was pointing his gun at Sri. He quickly ran towards the officer and kicked his gun. Unfortunately, he was late by some seconds and Soobin had already fired the bullet. It was initially aimed at S's shoulder but after Jimin's unintended disturbance it got directed to Taehyung. Jimin had freed Hoseok and the officers piled upon the blonde.

The world turned slow for Sri. She saw how the bullet made its way to Tae. She didn't have time to think. She pushed the brunette away from her and the next moment the bullet pierced her stomach. A gasp left her mouth as she jerked forwards.

Taehyung fell on his back. He saw how the blood gushed out from the open wound with horrified eyes. He was once again on his feet and pressed his body with her. He felt this shirt getting wet in her blood. The gangleader was shaking in pain. Her consciousness was slipping.

"Nothing will happen to you. Let's go to the hospital. I will save you!" Taehyung saw how she vomited blood.

"I can't go to the hospital..." Her voice came out as a faint whisper.

"Stop being stubborn! I am not ready to lose you... again."

"T-taehyung...? Remember you had said once 'taking a life is much easier than giving one'?"

The doctor nodded with overflowing eyes. "Don't talk now. Please. Breathe. You will feel less pain."

She took a painful breath and smiled, "You were right. Today I gave a life..." Her knees almost gave up. Taehyung cried loudly holding her.

"Dr. Taehyung. Please give us space. She needs to come with us." Hoseok spoke.

"NO! Don't touch her!! It's your fault!!" He snapped.

"Please. She needs treatment."

"You will kill her! I don't trust anyone of you!! You are gangsters in the name of the law!"

"We will have to force you," Hoseok warned. "You might get jailed for this."

"Try me!" He hugged her tighter. Hoseok tried to pull him apart. Jimin was already handcuffed. A defeated look smeared on his face.

Taehyung kept rooted to his position. But the force became stronger every second. He heard his brother and Yoongi's voices. They were also pulling him away from his love. The trio finally broke them apart.

"Leave me!!" Taehyung screamed but the doctors held him strongly from the back. He saw Sri's weak form supporting herself by holding the railing behind her.

She locked her eyes with Taehyung and smiled sadly. "It's okay."

The next thing she did was totally unexpected. S ran with her remaining strength towards to end of the bridge. Hoseok took out his revolver but Yeonjun pulled the trigger before him. She was shot at the back three times. But surprisingly that didn't  slow her pace. She climbed on the railing and jumped into the river. She didn't forget to give a smirk of victory to Hoseok before plummeting to her death.

"SOOJUNGGGG!!!!" Taehyung screamed. He pushed Jin and Yoongi away and ran towards her. But it was too late. Taehyung lunged his upper half from the railing. The police were preventing him from jumping. Sri had disappeared into the water. Only bloody ripples had remained behind.

"She is not going to survive after getting shot 4 times," Soobin spoke the bitter truth.

"Send the divers! We need her body for confirmation." Hoseok ordered.

Taehyung gave up as he sank to the ground. Everything had ended. Fate was indeed cruel to them. He didn't have the strength to cry. Jin hugged his brother for comfort.

She died but never lost, just like she had said.
