Homecoming

Indi's POV

What. Just. Happened. I was thinking of ways to get out of this creepy realm when the Doctor piped up. Maybe, just maybe, if we all try to wake up at the same time, we can get out of here.
I thought about my options quickly. Ok, three, two, one!
I groggily opened my eyes. Jack was standing in front of us. He had probably been trying to wake us up. Lauren's wings were splayed out on the ground, the Doctor underneath her. She opened her eyes but then closed them again as she realised what position she was in. The Doctor lifted his head, looking down at Lauren who was laying on his chest. He wrapped his arms around her middle and pulled her up to her feet, her eyes snapping open.
"So, what happened to you guys? All I heard was that thing about the silence and the Scriptor. Who do you think that means?" Jack asked.
"I think it means we're nearing a time where the war meets the future." Lauren was being vague, but I knew exactly what she meant. The Day of the Doctor was close in the timeline, but Lauren was never in it. Maybe he forgot, that was why she wasn't in the episode. I knew I'd probably have to stay with Jack for a bit while they did that, but I believe that time alone will give them a better chance at it working out. Hang on, what if there was a version of Clara that had seen Lauren, but she didn't ask about who she was at the time?
"Well, we were in this sort of thought realm, and I think that those two have something going on, also, I delivered some sort of prophecy," I told Jack, gesturing to Lauren and the Doctor, who still had their arms around each other, then sighing when I'd finished. "Is something burning?"
Jack ran back to the kitchen muttering a lot of 'no's. I assumed whatever Lauren had been cooking before had burnt.

Lauren's POV

I really enjoyed the Doctor's embrace, but I could smell the pancakes burning. I pulled away from him to run into the kitchen and see Jack fumbling around, trying to turn the stove off. For a human who's over 400 years old, he could really be stupid sometimes. I walked up behind him, skilfully maneuvered my arm around him, and turned the stove off. He looked at me like a grumpy teenager while I smiled and replaced the burnt pancakes with fresh batter.
After I'd flipped the pancakes over, I felt a pair of strong arms around me. I brushed the Doctor's face with one of my wings, not taking my eyes off the pancakes. The Doctor kept his arms around me until I served the pancakes when he had to let go to eat.
"So, Doctor, how much of Australia have you actually seen?" I asked him, waiting for an answer along the lines of 'I've only seen Sydney and Brisbane'.
"Not much of it, actually. Tegan never really wanted to tour around her own country. I'd love to see where you and Indi live." That was definitely not the answer I was thinking of.
"Well, if you give me a manual of how to fly the TARDIS, then count me in on that idea. I'd love to show you the caves, sinkholes, and animals we have around. It has been too long." I looked up at the ceiling.
"Come on then!" And with that, he ran out of the kitchen. Jack, Indi and I eventually found our way back to the console room, the Doctor already running around the central column.
"Come on, old girl. Show me how to fly again," I whispered to the TARDIS as I put my palms on the console. The motions came to me as I danced around the console, pressing buttons and pulling levers. The TARDIS landed with a soft 'thump' and I walked out the door to find the stars twinkling in the sky above me. I saw the lights from the massive sinkhole nearby, and I ran down the stairs, remembering to make my wings invisible. I could see a few of the possums coming out of the caves as I slowly walked down the rest of the steep stairs. I could hear the Doctor slowly making his way down behind me, Indi trying not to make too much noise, while Jack was as loud as ever. I had to talk to the possums to make them stay near me. I waved to the Doctor, letting him know he could approach. I grabbed his wrist and placed his hand on the possum's soft back. I rubbed it at the base of its neck and it relaxed, knowing we wouldn't harm it.
I want to show you the rest.
I loved this sinkhole, but the flowers during the day and all the native bees made it just as good of an experience during the sunlight hours.
When we got back to the TARDIS, I moved her to the edge of the area, and we all went to our respective bedrooms.

The next morning I woke up early, ready to show the Doctor everything about the place I grew up in. Sort of. I ran to the console room, knowing he'd probably stayed up all night and gone to his spot underneath the console to occupy himself. I found him just where I expected, and grabbed his right leg, pulling him out of his hole.
"What?" He asked, annoyed. I grinned at him and his expression softened, letting me pull him to his feet, then making our way out the doors. The sun had just come over the horizon, the flowers already open and the bees already buzzing around. I slipped my hand into his and squeezed it, his fingers interlocking with mine as a response. I lead him to the sinkhole and looked down, the purples, whites, and pinks of the flowers bright against the green. Ivy hung on the walls of the cave, the staircases behind the sheets of green. I lead him down further to the limestone cave system the possums lived in, where I stood on the edge of some of the rock to brush my hand against a tired possum. Time went quickly and we were soon joined by Jack and Indi, walking around through the large garden-like landscape. It was good to be home, but it was even better to be with the Doctor.
