AU where Nora raised Thad.
The first thing she observed was how small he was.... He was screaming at first, but quiet in her arms looking up. His eyes a unique gold in color.  Tears filled her eyes and a smile formed in her face.. Knowing she would protect him by any means necessary all of his life. 

Things things were clear as he got older. He loved the color green more than anything no matter what age he was. Keeping a toy he refused to let go of named Craydl until it just 'disappeared. '  He had trouble letting go, and making friends. His first time being dropped off, being taken to school he stayed stuck to her leg. The entire school days  he kept to himself and thinking something was wrong with himself.

Insecure when people pointed out the differences in the two of them or looked at his eyes. Trying to hide it, changing himself for the others. Getting in fights, being over competitive.. The last straw was when he broke into the Flash Museum. 

That's when she did two things.  Telling him that as himself he was always more than enough, and that he was grounded for the next few months. A few days later he brought someone over for a project. A smile appeared on his face when she saw his 'friend' and she shared an embarrassing story.
