"Why can't you just let Jenna cry herself out?" Thad asked clearly showing his annoyance when Joe cut the conversation short to calm down the baby. "If it isn't important she could just tire herself out. No need to waste your time.." He came over to discuss the case,he couldn't show up to the CCPD and just talk to the police captain. 

"He didn't even bother picking you up when you were a baby?" Thad didn't say another word but Cecile read his emotions clearly in that moment. She kept at it to keep an eye on what went through his head. Jealousy going through his mind when he noticed how much attention people were supposed to give kids in those years.

He started paying more attention toward Jenna, actually flipping through parenting, guides for babysitting or even interacting with her. Sticking around their home, and he actually held her... Well once when Cecile was occupied. 

He looked petrified but did his best to make sure she wouldn't wake up, that she was safe. He took a picture swiftly, pocketing his phone. He did his best later on to play with Jenna.  When she woke up he just kept talking, about everything even facts or observations to make sure she relaxed...

Joe noticed it but didn't say a word smiling... But the moment Joe confessed what the suspect threatened to do to his youngest daughter Thad explained exactly what he wanted to do.

"I promise I  will rip the skin off the man who said those words.." Thad promised. "The moment I held her I.. Just felt this protective instinct."
