His Butler, Fighting
"You cloaked your true form masterfully, hiding your eyes was smart as well. They would've given you away at once," Sebastian said.
"Yes, that yellow-green phosphorescence is a dead giveaway. He's a grim reaper," Grell agreed.
"Hehehe, that brings back memories, it's been half a century since anyone's called me that," Undertaker smirked.
"A grim reaper?" You breathed out, and here you thought you knew him well, at least well enough to call him a friend.
"YOU BASTARD!" Ryan called out, "you said we could control those creatures with this!" The distraught doctor ran down to Undertaker looking at him in disbelief, the colour drained from his pale face. "Why would you do this?!"
He laughed at him, "Perhaps I misspoke. You were trying so earnestly to bring the dead back to life using medicine, it was desperately amusing."
"I wanted to make the world a healthier place!"
"Did you though?" Undertaker's sarcastic voice carried throughout the room. "When you started using the technology I offered, your work no longer became medical. Don't you see? A man who performs procedures without knowing how they work is no doctor."
"Simply a puppet," you said annoyed. How could one be so foolish as to accept random machines to bring the dead back to life without knowing how it worked? Even still, not knowing how to destroy them if they became faulty, which they obviously have. People who are strung along annoyed you to no end. It's like they didn't have a brain until they found a master. And always the wrong kind of master of course. He dropped to his knees shaking as Undertaker went over and pet him.
"You believed every word I said, lapped up every lie I told like an eager puppy. That's a good boy."
"To be clear it wasn't Druitt masterminding the reanimation experiments," the young lord said.
"No, Druitt himself can be a puppet, but he is first and foremost a nuisance, sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. This was all you wasn't it?" You said interjecting, half-heartedly glaring at Undertaker.
'Speaking of the fool where did he go?'
Druitt had fled unnoticed, probably to sneak his way on a lifeboat with another person's child. Wouldn't be the most cowardly thing he's done.
"That's a secret~ Is what I'd like to say but everyone doing that ridiculous phoenix pose, you've paid for a veritable amount of information. So I'll tell you all."
"It's true, I am the one who reanimated the corpses," he put his hand on his chest in a posh and proud manner indicating he had no qualms of what he's done.
"Towards what purpose?!"
"I guess you could say... general curiosity," he said tapping his sotoba on the ground, he had revealed a few of them earlier. "See, humans are flesh bodies and souls joined to make one, and only then can they record their Cinematic record. When they die, a Grim Reaper comes and detaches their soul from the body, and there ends the record. That was my life, day in and day out. Until one day I thought, 'What if the record continued after it had been disconnected?' "
"If I spliced a record after it was extracted and attached it after the record ended what would happen to the body? Exactly what you see before you."
"So, what you're saying is you edited the records?" Grell asked in disbelief.
Undertaker laughed, "See for yourself little reaper," he gestured to the room of corpses. Grell sliced one near to him open, a white hazy glow surrounded the corpse he sliced almost like it was drawing you in and out of focus. "What? What the hell is all this?!" Grell shouted.
"Hey what are we seeing?" Shouted the young lord. Finally, a small picture frame of some sort slowly became visible, you couldn't make out what precisely was in it. As soon as it became visible to you, it disappeared.
"Yes I know it seems odd at first, but what you're seeing is that I added a false record onto the real one and so it became never-ending. And just like I predicted the body thought it was alive again and began to move. Although empty of a real soul this one had a purpose, when they awaken they instinctively know something is missing. They seek the souls they have lost by ripping open the bodies of the living." You leaned on the bannister trying to wrap your head around what was going on, of course, you knew very little of these matters.
"So they're coming after our souls?" The young lord asked as Undertaker walked off.
"Not that it would do them any good, no one else's soul could become theirs. They're "Bizarre Dolls" as they are neither living nor dead." He picked up a woman laying on the staircase, evidently struggling to attack people, but she was held against her will.
"Her skin may be waxy white and marred by stitches, but she's a beautiful as she was in life. And now her mouth no longer babbles or lies, her head is empty of all but a single desire, must be a vast improvement from her previous state." He swayed with her in his arms
"You disgust me," the young lord narrowed his eyes and covered his mouth.
"Clearly you are still a child if you can't understand the beauty of it my lord."
Undertaker asserts that there are humans interested in employing Bizarre Dolls as animal weapons, for they do not feel pain or fear. Those humans wanted to test the effectiveness of Bizarre Dolls; therefore, an experiment was conducted on the Campania, with the same number of humans and Bizarre Dolls together in one place, to see how many will survive on each end. "I never imagined we'd hit an iceberg so that played out well. Saves me the trouble of sinking the ship myself," he laughed coldly.
"You are unhinged," Sebastian said snapping you back to reality. You didn't know how close he was.
Grell and Ronald resolve to detain Undertaker, who they've labelled as a "deserter." Their attack was unsuccessful, mostly due to Sebastian intervening. They each prepare to vie for Undertaker. "Stay here," he hissed, before advancing on Undertaker, who cleanly dodged all three of them.
During the fight, Undertaker states that Grim Reapers are all heavily nearsighted. Grell asked him if he is at a disadvantage then suddenly slices the sotoba, much to his surprise since he couldn't at first. Undertaker used the opportunity to kick Grell out of the way. Ronald tried to attack him but didn't notice Undertaker go behind him. He knocked off Ronald's glasses and shoved him to the side as well.
Sebastian then aims for Undertaker who grins at him, "Tell me, what damage do you plan to inflict with those tiny knives?"
"What our silverware may lack in size they make up for in sharpness," he said cutting down the sotoba to tiny pieces, just missing the Undertaker.
Undertaker taunts the three of them not realizing you sneaking behind him, or so you thought. He turned around smirking at you his sotoba raised, but you were pulled swiftly out of the way by Sebastian, it angrily scratching your neck to your forearm tearing the shirt making it bleed. Pulling you atop the second landing he sat you down harshly.
"I said to stay put for a reason," he glared at you. Grell and Ronald took Undertaker head-on again but were met by Undertaker's sotoba.
"It's just a scratch, nothing detrimental," you said. "I don't see why I can't fight."
The room was suddenly illuminated by a green glow from in between Undertaker and the two reapers drawing your attention. They were thrown back, both bleeding profusely from their abdomen. Undertaker had unleashed his death scythe, an actual scythe adorned with a skull and thorns twisting its way down to a ribcage.
"Do you see now?"
"Woah-"
Undertaker had sliced through the air wrecking pillars while in pursuit of those two. The landing had caved in making the both of you slide down to the main floor behind the Undertaker casually walking behind Ronald and his superior.
"Go," Sebastian instructed, and you took off up the grand staircase and to the young lord's side making sure he was safe and didn't further injure himself.
Sebastian hurled tables that were falling from the landing at him, and Undertaker effortlessly cuts through them but soon realizes that it is merely a diversion. Sebastian dives behind Undertaker, saying that he just wanted to get within his reach.
"Interesting, I too use strategy when fighting butler."
Undertaker came charging at the young lord so you threw your arm out in a protective manner but he leapt onto the staircase and landed behind you. Before you could react, his arm went around your neck and his fingers grabbed the young lord. You gasped for air as the crook of his elbow squeezed tighter constricting your airway, the mark on your upper back burned white-hot almost rendering you unconscious. Your scream drowned out sounds and tears blurred your vision but that sadly well-known fear trapped in your heart surfaced told you Sebastian approached with such a fury. Suddenly you and the young lord were thrown from the balcony, and you saw Sebastian's wide eyes through your blurry tear-filled ones staring at the both of you. The fear in your heart was replaced with a different type of fear. His hands outstretched for the both of you while he squatted on the railing.
"SEBASTIAN!!!" Tears streaked down your face as you screamed for him and Undertaker's death scythe pierced his torso, more than half the blade going through. Your eyes widened as you saw what no human has ever seen. Sebastian's cinematic record. It really did look like a cinema reel.
"Let's see what your record holds," the Undertaker sneered.
