Mornings are such an inspirational start of the day. It spreads its magic on all the creatures announcing lets begin, lets get started. And when morning is early, empty roads, twinkling street lights, silence, breeze, temple bells and chants are the beauties you're welcomed with. If not due to the nightmares may be I wouldn’t had this habit of getting up early. Being a morning person my biological clock activates me to do quick daily chores and a pre breakfast to start off my day. Reading cases, interpreting judicial decisions and drawing outcomes are the next set of tasks for the day.

I love my job. It's due to this profession that I'm confident enough to present myself as a righteous person who can stand for the weak and fight for the justice. Otherwise who would have thought of seeing a silent girl's transformation. Becoming a lawyer wasn't a piece of cake , I had to struggle, fight and challenge myself at every point as the saying goes "survival of the fittest". Whenever I think of past it brings back some unforgettable bad memories but I have the assurance that nothing would go wrong. That gives me hope to stand up and fight back.

Shuttering of the windows brings me back to the present. Dark roaring clouds and violent wind alarms for the coming of storm and rain. Rushing towards the front I closed the windows and doors to enter a dimly lit room. Collecting and organizing papers, disturbed by the wind, I sat down resuming my work.

The vibration of phone disturbed my focus displaying "Rohan" calling.

" What ? " I picked up.

"What an endearing greeting"  came a sarcastic remark followed by his purpose " A client is coming so reach the office at the earliest ".

Hanging up I stood from the chair, my companion of two hours! The sky is neat now, fresh and radiant like cleaned by Colin. Wind and rain has settled down leaving the soothing environment. Opening windows again I felt the mild breeze. Okay lets see what this client is about. I changed quickly getting ready to go to the office.

Angels Orphanage (A Unit of Raj Enterprises)

My home. I have lived here. All my childhood – teenage is this place. I don’t know who my parents are or were? Mother Mary, guardian of orphanage and all the children here, my only mother in whose lap I spend my days here. She is a real Mary, my angel and a pure soul with only love for children. I was a bubbly child, who turned silent growing up. For further studies and college I moved to Delhi to become a lawyer and then settled there.

Yesterday I received a letter of mother Mary informing the acquisition of orphanage by the Raj Enterprises. After moving out we talked through phone only but due to job schedule now it is ceased. So today I’m here to see her and know what is the matter. White gate, green hedges all over the boundary with flowering subsequent and the straight path towards mother’s office, all are same like it was . Walking towards her office I felt the same serenity and harmony in the air like it was before. I don’t know what is in this place but there is always this contentment and magic that makes you forget all your worries. There she is sitting on the chair, reading book with the glassed vision. I tip toed towards her and as I was going to surprise her, like always she ruined the fun and raised her head. With the angry expression I exclaimed “Mother?!”

“Oh! My child.. you know my alertness.”

“You also know it is me,then why...” my words flew as she opened her arms. I immediately hugged her and stayed there for sometime controlling my tears as she rubbed my back.

Then I asked “ How are you? ”

“ I’m perfectly fine, all good with no heart attacks.” She answered with the teasing expressions. I just laughed and said so now keep your heart strong.

After meeting her, I roamed around remembering the moments spent here and greeting people. After lunch, I asked about the acquisition matter. To which she said this orphanage was built and run by Raj Sharma, a kind hearted and noble businessman. But after his death, his elder son Rajiv Sharma who is same as his father took care of it. On other hand Rajesh is greedy and money minded, at first he was content as both the brothers has equal share in business and properties but years later he started creating problems and plotting to increase his share. Then one day a news came claiming the death of Rajiv Sharma and his wife in a car accident. Having no children all Rajiv's share were transferred to him except this orphanage. It was all settled like this with Rajesh having full control on business and properties except this orphanage. Earlier he did donations but from last few years that also had stopped. And now came his notice of acquisition. With this she concluded her story. Okay mother, don't worry I will look into the matter and nothing will happen to orphanage.

Next morning

As I was going out, mother asked "Where are you going?"

“Yesterday, I fixed an appointment so I'm going to talk to Rajesh.”

Reaching the cafe where we're supposed to meet, I sat at the reserved table waiting for his arrival. Five minutes later a man in his fifties approached me," Ruchi Sharma?"

"Yes. And you're Rajesh Sharma."

“Very well. What you want to talk about?”

“That why you want to acquire orphanage? You already a well functioning business.”

“I'm a businessman and is doing what a businessman does.”

“What about the people living there? That is the home of many children. You can't just take it.” I questioned with anger evident.

“I have given 2 months notice to vacant the place and it's enough.” He gave his reasoning.

“How it's enough? If  they already had a home, they won't be living in orphanage. And you are also not providing a different place.”

“It's my property I can take back anytime. Gotta go girl, works call.”  standing up and correcting his coat he turned to leave.

“Then be ready for a lawsuit, I won't allow you to take orphanage.” I said in determined tone.

“Very well, a lawsuit won't help you. And with which capacity you'll file it ?” mocking at me he left.

Lawyer 1 : Today we are here to solve dispute on Orphanage Case. With judge's permission he proceeded. My client wants to take his property back and has already given reasonable notice to vacant the orphanage in 2 months.

Bowing in front of Judge I continued, yes notice is given but what about the lives of children?  This orphanage is their home if not here, Where will they live?

 This orphanage belonged to Rajiv Sharma and he has given power of attorney to mother Mary. And here is the document.

Lawyer 1 : But after Rajiv's death this power of attorney is not valid. I have the transfer deed, in which all his properties belongs to Mr. Rajesh.

But there isn't any mention of orphanage, all properties might have transferred but not the orphanage. Do you have any proof regarding that?

Lawyer 1 : My lord, I need sometime to present the evidence.

Judge : Okay then, the court is adjourned and next session will be after two days.

First day is going to be over, at evening, I was going through case papers when a message from Mr. Rajesh alerted me, he wants to meet me.

Help! Help! Please someone help!” hearing the voice I looked around and found a closed old door, with much difficulty the door opened and I found two sparrows exhausted under the stack of papers trying to find a way out but couldn't. I removed the papers and helped them out. They moved their wings and relaxed, "Thank you beta, you saved us. God bless you." hearing them talk I was astonished. What is this? Is any kind of fantasy? May be sensing my surprise they touched my arm with their wings to distract me and after that flewed from window. I woked up with sweat on my forehead. What's with this dream? Earlier I used to see accidents.. death and now this?  Drinking some water I looked at the clock showing 4 :30am.

Greeting mother I left the orphanage to meet Rajesh at the decided place, by the address given looks like its some residential area. I rang the bell at the address and waited. After sometime, I was called inside and asked to wait in the hall. House was big like a mansion well furnished and great interiors. Then Rajesh came and said lets discuss in study. While going towards study I noticed the same old door at the farther corner that I saw in dream. I was confused what was happening? Is the dream connected with this house?

Sitting he said, “looks like, you like my house. You can also own a house like such.”

“So, you have called to bribe me.”

“No I'm thinking for both of us.”

“You don't have to think about me. I will take the leave if you have nothing else to say.”

As I came out I was confident, he don't have any evidence to support himself but the old door remained the mystery. It's already evening and going to be night, I have to take a chance. Yes! the window. I waited to get dark and entered inside through the window, it's the same room as in dream. I searched around to get any clue, sometime later found a file . I was shocked to see the papers and the content inside. Quickly collecting - arranging I made my way out. That was risky but made the narrow escape.

As I entered the orphanage, a worried mother questioned, “where were you?”

Then I explained all the matter to her. She was also surprised. Holding my arm she said, " I have something to reveal." What she said later gave me another unabsorbable shock. Tears started flowing uncontrollably. I don't know How l should react? She said I'm the daughter of Rajiv Sharma. “Why you didn't tell me earlier?”

“ Firstly it was because your parents didn't want you to live a sad life remembering them and avenge revenge for their death.”

She continued “They always believed in God's justice and said may be by revenge you can punish the culprit but that doesn't give you satisfaction. Only your life is ruined plotting schemes.”

“So you knew them?” I questioned her

“Yes, your mother and I were school friends and then we met, when she was here as wife of Rajiv.” “On the day of their death they gave you to me and asked for the promise to protect and care for you always.”

I had no words I only cried hugging her. That night was very long.

 ~~~~~~~~~~
In the next court session, I presented the papers in which my father has legally transferred the orphanage in mother Mary's name before his death. Mother Mary was the only legal owner.  Thus fighting the case further had no point. After legal verification of the papers, decision came in our favour. We were all back in our home, happy and contented. That night we all slept peacefully. I also laid on the bed and slept thinking, how my life changed in a bit. Now I know my identity and is very proud to know about my parents, their values and wisdom. And how they helped me with the case.
"I felt some softness on my forehead and opened eyes to look what it is, what I found was the most beautiful fascinating scene, me lying on the green grass under a tree's shade and a couple of sparrows rubbing their wings so softly that I can feel their emotions through their act, closing eyes again I laid enjoying the moment of love and care. Then one of them said " I'm so proud of you child, you stood for the justice and didn't gave up, you remain strong throughout and faced each and every hurdle with not loosing hope."
" You think I'm a good child?" I asked very innocently, demanding an answer.
“Yes, very good one with a pure soul. And most importantly you learned that holding past doesn't do any good but letting go is the best that makes us stronger and happy.
And always remember one thing, those who do good, good will always come to them. It may take time but will never disappoint you .” saying this they kissed my forehead and as I opened my eyes they were gone. I tried sleeping again but that never happened.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Few days later,

I was passing through the veranda when I heard a girl was reciting " Once Upon A Time there was a girl, who was a lawyer, very hard working, brave and an angel who fights with evil and defeat them. I want to become like her when I grow up."

As I was listening to her words I didn’t notice all the children were looking at me. “ Good morning children, how are your studies going on?” I asked.

They all shouted in enthusiasm explaining their excitement. Then Seema, their teacher told that the activity was about what they want to be in future and the girl was reciting about me.

“Oh really ! You all made me such an attributable person. But what you should learn is that if you’re good, the good will ultimately come to you. So help each other.” And your these words have given me positivity and inspiration to keep doing and moving forward.
