jamie walked into lucas's room, seeing him and jaehyun pressed in the corner, holding onto each other, both barefoot as multiple shoes littered the room near lucas's bed.

she couldn't help the laugh that escaped her lips as she shook her head, walking over and grabbing a shoe, "where is it?"

lucas pointed towards his headboard and jamie saw the small spider, barely able to be seen by the naked eye.

another laugh left her lips, her stomach clenched in protest of her loud laughter, tears leaving her eyes, "it's so small."

"that's what she said," jaehyun muttered, making lucas looking at him in annoyance.

"i could die tonight and you're making that's what she said jokes!"

"...that's what she said."

by then, jamie and jaehyun were on the ground, dying from laughter, lucas pouring in annoyance, "fine, i'll kill it."

lucas grabbed a shoe and slowly approached it.

"shoe, use tackle!" he screamed, throwing the shoe at the spider. the spider fell and disappeared, making him let out a blood curdling scream as he ran out of the room and into the hall.

jaehyun and jamie were still crying, trying to get over it, but the scene only made their laughter worse.

"don't worry everyone," johnny's voice came from the doorway, his convenience store uniform on, an electric fly swatter in his hand, a mask on his mouth with a pair of sunglasses, gloves on his hands, "i will kill it."

the two js couldn't stop laughing as johnny walked over to the headboard, found the spider, squealed and ran, saying it was going to attack him.

"how many idiots does it take to kill a damn spider," a new voice chimed in.

donghyuck was standing next to lucas, johnny cowering behind him. his red hair had faded to an auburn and he had his green hoodie on, the hood over his head and an amused face peeking from under it.

"oh right, donghyuck is here," johnny said, peeking out from behind the smaller and younger boy, "he wanted to talk to jamie."

jamie pointed to herself and donghyuck nodded, sighing.

"where is this bastard?" donghyuck asked, walking over to the bed.

he saw the small spider and laughed, "it's so tiny."

donghyuck promptly stepped on it with the slippers he borrowed, which so happened to be jaemin's, and turned towards the group, holding his arms out and he put his head back, "the beast has been conquered. praise me."

the three scared boys praised him as jamie laughed, hiding behind the three towering boys.

"oh shit, i'm late!" johnny yelled, turning to run out the door.

"say hi to mark for me!" the three other housemates yelled, johnny yelling back a "will do" before the front door closed.

"you wanted to talk to me?" jamie turned towards donghyuck, who nodded.

"it's cold out so let's go to my room," she said, walking out of the door.

"i will be listening with my super hearing, so don't try to make a move on my baby!" jaehyun threatened the younger boy who just laughed.

"me? make a move on jamie? it would be the other way first," donghyuck laughed self confidently.

jamie grabbed donghyuck's ear, dragging him out of the room as lucas watched and laughed, yelling a "burn!"

jamie closed the door after getting donghyuck in, going over and sitting on her bed, leaning against the wall and motioning for him to join her.

he sat at the end of her bed, facing her as she grabbed a bag of pocky sticks off her bedside table and held them out, offering some.

donghyuck took a handful, making jamie gap in shock at him and her now empty box of pocky.

he laughed, handing her half of the ones he had grabbed.

"so what's up?" jamie asked, putting the pocky in her mouth.

donghyuck did the same, staring at the wall, "i know it was me that you were talking about... the friend at the hospital."

jamie blinked in shock, "oh."

he nodded, "yeah. you could've said something, i wouldn't have bit your head off or anything, you're my kpop buddy. besides, i know you aren't the type to blab and say to someone it was me or anything."

jamie nodded, "do you want to talk about it?"

donghyuck took a bite of his pocky stick, seeming to be debating with himself, before he shrugged, "maybe it'll make it better if i do."

jamie nodded, "it will, trust me. go ahead, when you're ready."

donghyuck sighed, glancing at the girl who was looking at him calmly, like they weren't talking about him visiting a hospital or losing someone close to him, a pocky stick hanging out of her lips, her fingers holding onto the bread end gently.

he glanced away, "my best friend committed suicide."

jamie gasped, "oh, i'm so sorry. that's horrible!"

donghyuck hummed, "it is, but she's in a better place now. we were childhood friends, but after a while she had started to act really... weird. she never wanted to talk to me, or do anything, she avoided everyone in our friend group, never left her room, etc. i gave her some space, waiting for her to lean on me and not pushing it. i got a call one day that she was in the hospital, getting her stomach pumped because she had tried to od. she was successful, but they saved her before she was fully gone."

donghyuck paused, looking at jamie who was listening intently, giving him all her attention.

"she had bipolar depression and was schizophrenic. she was kept in the psychiatric ward for a few days and then released. her parents caught her trying to jump off her balcony the next day, saying she had seen me fall down and she wanted to save me. she was admitted back into the hospital because she was a threat to herself. she was there for a month before being released where she hung herself with the curtains on the curtain rod in her room."

"wow," jamie muttered, "that's terrible."

he nodded, "it is. i feel really bad about it too, but i feel she's in a better place now, you know? i joined the app because at first i felt so... lost without her. she was my closest friend, the one that held my group together. after mark had left sopa, she was the only one i had left of my friends and she had left me too. but now i have all of you, and it doesn't hurt as much."

jamie smiled, resting her hand on his shoulder, "i'm sorry you had to go through all of that, but i'm so glad you're staying positive. can i help with anything? a good cry? a movie marathon? just tell me and i shall be here."

donghyuck grinned, "let's watch a sad kdrama! two bird with one stone!"

jamie grinned back, "i know just the one!"

the two gave each other a high-five before running into the living room, making popcorn, and turning on the first sad drama they found because the one jamie wanted wasn't there anymore.
