"one... last... box..."

jamie took a deep breath, and pushed, picking the box up a foot off the ground before it was taken from her.

she looked up and saw jaemin carrying it with ease, walking into the apartment building and over to where johnny and jaehyun stood with boxes at their feet, waiting for the elevator.

jamie smiled and shook her head, closing the back of the moving van they had rented.

she waved as the employees left before running over to the three boys, trying to catch the elevator before it closed.

as tired as they all were, they were even more excited.

jamie skipped ahead, opening the door with her copy of the key.

the apartment was beautiful and huge, boxes littering the floor with different words written on them in english and korean. a huge couch sat in the middle of the room, plastic wrap still around it, their old antique dining table in the kitchen.

the four stood proudly of the new apartment, johnny's arms over jamie and jaehyun, jamie holding jaemin's hand tightly.

"i call dibs on the master!" johnny suddenly called out, running to said room.

"hey!" jaehyun and jamie called, "that's not fair!"

johnny just laughed and slammed the door shut.

"which room is yours jam?" jaemin asked, looking around the apartment.

jamie happily led him to the room she had called, jaehyun following behind to go into his own.

"this is mine," jamie said happily, "i have my own bathroom! lucas's is next door and jaehyun's is down the hall next to johnny's! jaehyun and lucas have to share a bathroom and johnny has his own too."

the two walked into a small, white room.

"isn't it kind of small?" jaemin mumbled.

jamie shrugged, "it's my own so i'm not complaining. i'm going to paint it a pale blue and-"

jaemin watched as jamie happily walked around the room, explaining what she wanted to do with it.

"okay, so let's go get some paint and stuff," jaemin said, "we can invite the others over and have fun."

jamie smiled, "really?"

jaemin nodded, "of course."

"before we go," jamie caught his attention, making him turn back to her, "i thought i told you to take it easy, don't think i didn't see your struggling earlier! your ribs aren't fully healed still."

jaemin subconsciously touched were his ribs were, "i'm fine jamie, it's been five weeks, one more and i should be healed."

"you have court tomorrow," jamie mumbled, walking out of her room, letting him follow her, "jaehyun and johnny are coming to be witnesses, i will be one too, so will jeno. the other boys said they're going to come."

jaemin hummed, looking at the cut on the back of jamie's neck that was almost completely healed, exposed by her short hair being up in a ponytail, "they're probably going to send me to live with my aunt."

jamie nodded, "at least she's in yeongdeungpo-gu so you can still be close and visit us!"

jaemin frowned, "not neighbors though."

jamie smiled, locking the front door, "it'll be fine, it's only a couple subway stops."

the two walked in silence down the street to the hardware store, the sun setting, making everything orange and red.

"thank you again jamie," jaemin said suddenly, "i wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for you right now."

jamie smiled softly at him, "of course jae, that's what best friends are for. now, let's go find some paint!"

"i'm surprised he's been here for this long honestly," johnny muttered, following jamie down the hall, "the most they normally keep patients is, like, four days, tops."

"he was a threat to himself and others, you know how many attempts he had just being here," jamie said, "besides, he was still seeing doctors and getting healed physically."

johnny hummed, "thank god he's feeling more like himself now."

jamie nodded, knocking on the door to lucas's private room.

a come in welcomed her as she opened the door, seeing lucas sitting there happily, "welcome!"

jamie smiled brightly, going over and hugging him, "god i've missed you. so many crazy things have happened recently."

"i heard, when does jaemin move out?" lucas asked, hugging her back.

"next weekend," johnny answered, putting the bag he had carried for jamie on the bed, "here, some clothes."

lucas giddily opened the bag and pulled out his clothes, "man, i missed clothes. how long has it been since i last wore them instead of this horrible gown?"

jamie giggled, "only three months lu."

"too long," lucas mumbled, "i'll go get changed!"

he went into the bathroom to change, leaving jamie and johnny to clean his room for him, getting all of his stuff together.

a doctor came in and johnny signed for his release, the three happily talking as they left the hospital.

lucas was amazed when he stepped foot into the apartment, even thought it was only half unpacked.

he excitedly "ooo-ed" and "ah-ed" everything, running around like a puppy.

"careful lucas!" jamie frowned, "your ankle still isn't done healing! and your back!"

lucas had to get surgery on his ankle when he was physically stable after his attempted suicide. it had to be physically set otherwise it would've healed wrong, so it was pretty much healed by now, but still a little unstable. the doctor said back injuries take a long time to heal as well, even if it looked or felt healed.

lucas just ignored her, going over to his room and happily throwing the door open.

jaehyun let out a low groan from the door hitting him in the face, jaemin laughing so hard he was crying behind him, sitting on lucas's bed.

they hadn't finished yet because they got distracted with the pictures they were putting up, but it was mostly done. his bed was made, stuffed animals sitting on it, his desk set up with textbooks laying on it, his school backpack on the floor next to it. his closet was open and full of clothes, and jaehyun was just finishing putting others into his dresser. posters of lucas's hung on the wall, his favorite signed red velvet poster above his bed so, as jaemin put it, he could sleep under the stars happily at night.

lucas's eyes tested up at the sight and he hugged the two in a bone crushing hug, repeatedly thanking them.

"jaemin's-" johnny covered jamie's mouth as she went to bark a warning to lucas, shaking his head, a smile on his face.

"oh lucas, we have another surprise!" jaehyun said, leading him back over to where the living room and kitchen where, "i guess you missed it when you came in."

in the corner of the room near the front door was their red velvet shrine, lucas gasping in shock, "it's beautiful."

"but missing something," he continued before running to his room.

he came back before the other four could even understand what was going on, a red velvet mood light in his hand, the lyrics to one of these nights on it and a red tassel hanging from one side.

he plugged it in and turned it on, admiring his work.

"it's so beautiful," johnny cried teasingly, lucas and jaehyun crying as well.

"yes," jamie hummed, "but everyone is coming over later for a housewarming and welcoming party, but the house isn't done! so let's get to work! alexa, play umpah umpah by red velvet!"
