jamie hesitantly went into the room they had moved lucas into, jaehyun promising to stay right behind the door.

a nurse was talking to him and examining him.

lucas's dirty blond hair was messy and he had dark under eye circles. he had managed to land in bushes instead of just the floor, mainly why he survived, so he had a bunch of small cuts all over him, one of his ankles shattered from a rock it landed on, another of his arms broken, sadly his dominant one. he had a pinched nerve in his back that he just came from surgery to fix, his neck in a cast. he looked completely miserable, even in his drugged and sedated state.

it made jamie sick.

tears sprang to her eyes at the sight, making her immediately turn and leave, going straight for jaehyun's arms.

the male was shocked, but didn't show it much, hugging her back.

they were in silence for a few minutes, him letting her calm down.

he knew she blamed herself for what happened, even if it was wrong.

"jamie," he said softly, "he needs you right now. suck it up squirt and go comfort him, he's been through a lot. he's here alone, his family can't get here for another week from china, he almost died, he must be scared. go in there and help him."

jamie sniffled, looking at jaehyun and smiling softly, "i will."

jaehyun swelled with pride as she quickly pulled herself together, took a deep breath, and opened the door again.

lucas's eyes met her the minute she opened the door, slight sparks of happiness in them, "jamie?"

his voice was so raspy and he sounded so weak, jamie almost broke again.

jaehyun's words echoed in her head and she forced a smile, nodding, "in here lucas."

tears soon fell from his eyes, strong turning weak in a second, "i-"

jamie rushed over, carefully holding him as to not hurt him more, "it's okay, you don't have to say anything, i'm here now... that's all that matters. you'll be okay, i know it."
