jamie turned off her phone, not being able to stomach the light atmosphere around the group chat.

no one was allowed in lucas's room at the moment, so she sat in the waiting room.

it was surprisingly quiet, not many people around her, the few that were had tears in their eyes or were comforting those who did.

jamie had told mark to go home, so she sat alone, staring at the ceiling, playing with her phone case absentmindedly.

hospitals had always left a sour feeling in jamie'a stomach and a sense of dread, from the all white to the people. the fact that it was almost always empty in the halls when she was there worried her, but she was also thankful for it.

she didn't know what she would do if she had to see people in despair.

she looked up for a minute, analyzing the people sitting here with her.

one boy stood out to her, his face oddly familiar, his red hair standing out. he had a blank expression on his face, the adults next to him panicky, trying to get a reaction out of him, to make sure he was okay.

jamie squinted her eyes, trying to get a better look.

now she recognized him, he had been here when johnny was here as well, always visiting, each day. she was pretty sure he was visiting someone in the psychiatric ward.

did he loose someone?

her heart ached for the no name man.

he looked over and they made eye contact, jamie's eyes going wide.

she wanted to say something, but she didn't, she wanted to acknowledge him, but she didn't know how to.

he looked confused, as if he was trying to figure out who she was, before the adults next to him pulled him out the doors, promising sweets and happy times.

jamie didn't know what to do.

should she tell him that she saw him?

isn't that rude? was she butting into his business? would he be upset?

jamie shook her head, trying to get rid of the negative thoughts.

she looked at her phone, the background a picture of johnny, jaehyun, and herself when she first moved in, johnny insisting on taking a picture to celebrate the reunion. their hair was all a similar shade of brown, johnny's arms hanging over jaehyun's and jamie's shoulders as he beamed at the camera, jamie's hand made bunny ears behind johnny's head, a proud smile on as jaehyun was doing a peace sign, laughing.

she missed johnny, he had been super busy with work yet again, overworking himself no matter what the doctors, jaehyun, and jamie said to him.

jamie got caught up in happy memories of the three, distracting herself from the sadness in her heart, wishing to go back to then where the problems she went through were so big even though they were really small.

"jaemin wasn't lying."

jamie's head shot up, meeting jaehyun's eyes, johnny behind him.

"i told you," johnny said, taking a seat next to jamie, a mask and a hat on to cover his appearance.

"what, are you a celebrity?" jamie teased, pulling his hat down over his eyes.

jaehyun sat on the other side of jamie, seeming amused at the two.

"hey, i told them i was too sick to volunteer today so i could be with you," johnny whined, poking her nose, "i must be unrecognizable!"

jamie giggled, leaning into jaehyun, nudging him, "yeah, i never knew, did you jae?"

jaehyun laugher, shaking his head, obviously lying from his red ears, "that's johnny? i had no idea!"

the three erupted into laughs, the other people in the waiting room giving them dirty looks.

jamie watched in admiration as johnny and jaehyun talked happily, discussing life as if they weren't in a hospital for one of johnny and jamie's friends who tried to commit suicide.

she wrapped her arms around both of theirs, pulling them close to her and laughing along, even though she had no idea what they were talking about.

she'd be alright, she realized, her smile never leaving her face, even if life got rough, she had her two brothers who were willing to do anything for her.
