"Is this necessary?" Inanna asked pointing to Elliott who had been tied a chair with a cloth stuffed in his mouth to stop him from speaking while Lila painted his toe nails.

"If you ask again, I will do the same to you" Five said as the tape began rolling, the projector set up behind him.

Five gave Inanna a tight lipped smile as she turned her attention away from Elliott to the screen in front of them, the brightness of the screen lighting up the room.

"Is it on?" An elderly woman asked, appearing on the screen.

"I don't know" A man behind the camera said.

"What do you mean? There's an 'on' button. Just— There's something over— that jigga-ma-thing, whatever".

"I hit the jigga-ma-thing" The man responded.

"Okay, well, just—" The man and woman began arguing over who knew how to work the camera better.

"They're so cute" Lila said as she continued painting Elliott's toes a shade of green, the same colour she had just painted on her finger nails. "I love old couples. I'm always so proud of them for not murdering each other".

Inanna glanced to Five, his eyes catching hers for a split second before he looked back to the screen. They were both rather proud of themselves for not killing the other, although it had crossed their minds at least once.

"Why are we watching this?" Diego asked Five.

"Shush" Five said. He didn't know exactly why they were watching the tape, but he knew it was important.

"Yeah, I.. I'm Dan Frankel. And...".

"I'm Edna Frankel" The woman said behind the camera.

"Edna Frankel. We are in Dallas, Texas, to see the president. Today's date is November 22, 1963".

"Shit" Inanna mumbled, she leaned back in her chair, understanding why Elliott thought they were the 'enemy of the people'. They had a film from the day JFK died.

"Well, that's six days from now" Lila said as Elliott wiggled in the chair, freaked out by the tape.

"Holy shit. This is it. The grassy knoll. Kennedy's about to get shot" Diego said leaning forwards on the counter he sat on top of, his arms wrapped around his legs which were pulled up to his chest "How do you have this?" Diego asked Five.

"Hazel died to get me this footage. It must be the key to stopping doomsday" Five said.

"Hazel?" Diego asked.

"Long story" Five said.

"What's doomsday?" Lila asked looking up at Five who stood next to her.

"Longer story" Five replied.

"What exactly did he say to you?" Diego asked Five, spinning a knife between his fingers

"Well, he was killed before he could explain. But whatever he wanted us to see, it's on this film" Five said, he never took his eyes off the film, not wanting to miss a single second.

"This is very exciting—" Multiple gunshots were heard in the background of the film and the camera shook as Edna fell to the ground in shock.

Inanna flinched at the gunfire, although she expected it to happen at some point, knowing how history played out already, but she hadn't expected it to be so soon on the film. Inanna tucked her hands underneath her thighs to hide them from Lila's observant eyes as they phased slightly, her own eyes closing momentarily as she took a deep breath and tried to block out the screams on the film.

"Oswald" Diego mumbled over the gunfire and the screams which followed.

"The president!" Dan shouted.

Five mumbled something inaudible as he rewinded the tape. A man dressed in all black with a black umbrella caught in the frame.

Diego stood up from the counter, and Five rolled the protector further away from the screen to get a better look at the man.

"It can't be" Five mumbled, he walked towards the screen, his brows furrowed.

"Okay, you gonna fill me in now, boys? What the hell is this shit we're watching?" Lila asked as Diego walked towards the screen, both of their shadows reflecting in front of them.

"No, that's impossible" Diego said.

"Clearly, it's not impossible" Five retorted.

"What- what is it?" Elliott asked, his words muffled as he struggled to lean forwards in the chair.

"Dad" Five and Diego muttered.

"What?" Inanna muttered. "Why- why is your dad-".

"If I knew, Inanna, don't you think I would have said?" Five asked rubbing the back of his neck.

Inanna glared "It was just a question" Inanna stood up from the chair, tucking her hands into the coat pockets.

"Of course Dad would be involved in the assassination. I should've known" Diego said leaning against the counter he had been previously sat on as Inanna moved to stand next to Elliott, avoiding Five as he started pacing.

"No" Five pointed at Diego "You're jumping to conclusions.

"What else is he doing standing on the grassy knoll, holding an open black umbrella on a sunny day in Dallas the exact same moment the president gets shot?" Diego asked pointing to the screen, his voice raised.

"It doesn't look good, I admit" Five said.

"No, he's the signalman for the whole goddamn thing" Diego mumbled.

"Easy, Diego. Seriously" Five said taking a step towards his brother.

"No, it makes sense" Diego argued. "This is what Hazel was obviously trying to tell you. We have to stop Dad from killing the president" Diego said.

"Diego, calm down, all right? Dad was no Boy Scout, but presidential assassination? It's never been his thing" Five argued.

"How would you know? You skipped out on his golden years" Diego said.

"Skipped out? You think I had it easy, Diego?" Five asked. "We were alone for 42 years" Five said. 'We' was Inanna and Five, but Diego didn't need to be clued up on that, the glance over his shoulder to the red head was enough to know that he understood, even if he was even more confused now than before.

"You know what? We don't have the time for this right now" Five's voice dropped in volume. "Dad's clearly in Dallas, right? Let's just go talk to him. Maybe he can help us fix the timeline".

"Dallas is a big place. We need to find him first" Diego said.

"Gee, if only we had some magical, old-timey way of finding people and their addresses" Five replied sarcastically, glancing over to Inanna.

"I think we've got something around here" Inanna said, untucking her hands from her pockets.

Inanna crossed the room to the only desk that was less cluttered by the window. She picked up the blue phone book up off the top, replacing it with a pot of pens to hold down the sheets of paper that the book was previously weighing down.

"You'll have to drive, it won't transport you like one of those briefcases" Inanna said to Diego as she passed the phone book to Five.

"I'm not an idiot" Diego said, narrowing his eyes at Inanna.

"That's debatable" Five muttered under his breath as he passed Diego and Inanna, carrying the heavy book through to the kitchen.

Inanna and Diego followed after him, crowding the table as he dropped the book onto it.

"Let's start simple. His name" Five said.

Inanna picked up one of the coffee cups which were sat on the table, noticing a small chip in the yellow. She hadn't drank any coffee all day, and her body was definitely thanking her.

Diego flipped open the book, finding 'H'. He dragged his finger down the page mumbling "Hargreeves" repeatedly as he skimmed over all the other names that began with 'H'.

Five looked to Inanna slightly puzzled. Wondering if she was going to pour herself a drink or just continue holding the yellow cup like it was a delicate ornament.

"There's a chip in the cup" Inanna mumbled, turning the cup so Five could see the small chip on the rim of the cup.

Five raised his brows, tucking his hands into his pockets "Seriously? You threw one at me yesterd-".

"You scared-".

"Shit" Diego's voice interrupted Inanna "Nothing here" Diego

"Try his company" Five suggested, he shook his head watching as Inanna sat the cup back down next to the others "D.S. Umbrella Manufacturing Co".

Diego scoffed "Yeah, I know the name" Diego flipped back through the book to 'D'. He scanned over the names before he spotted 'D.S UMBRELLA MFG CO' in bold.

"Holy, shit" Diego muttered pointing at the name. "D.S. Umbrella. Eight-two Olive. Let's go".

"I'm coming too" Inanna said.

"No-".

"Yes" Inanna and Diego said simultaneously. "Let Red come with us. What's the worst that could happen?" Diego asked Five.

"Our dad is a psychopath and he murders her" Five suggested.

"It's two against one" Inanna shrugged "And you know you're the only person who would actually have a chance at killing me".

"And that way of thinking is going to get you killed" Five argued. He knew Inanna wasn't completely wrong, he had seen her fight before, and he had even been the one to train her during the apocalypse when they had all the time in the world to themselves, but Five still didn't want Inanna thinking she was unbeatable, because she wasn't. "Which is why you are staying here with Elliott and Diego's girlfriend-".

"She's not my girlfriend" Diego interrupted.

"And I'm not staying here" Inanna argued "You wanted my help so you've got it".

"Why can't you just listen to me?" Five asked untucking his hands from his pockets "I'm trying to keep you safe. We have no idea what could happen".

"I understand that, Five, I do. But I want to come with you to keep you safe-".

"Inanna" Five groaned.

"No" Inanna shook her head. "I'm coming. End of" She wasn't staying in the apartment.

"How about I take your girlfriend and you stay here?" Diego suggested.

"Inanna isn't my girlfriend, she's my wife" Five corrected. Diego's eyes widened as he looked from Inanna to Five. "And if she goes, I go".

"Wife?".

"This is it" Five said as Diego parked in front of a building, every light switched off at the late hour they had arrived.

Inanna stepped out of the car as Five walked round the front of it.

"'D.S. Umbrella' This is it" Diego said shutting the drivers door behind himself.

On the wall of the building, next to a sign that read 'Eighty-two Olive' was a plaque with the company name and a black umbrella in the middle — the same umbrella that was tattooed on Five and his siblings.

Five stopped half way down the path, his eyes lingering on the plaque.

"You okay?" Diego asked.

"Yeah, fine" Five untucked his hands from his pockets as he continued walking. "Just" Five sighed as he stopped in front of the clear doors.

Diego pulled one of his knives from his pocket "How long has it been since you've seen the old man?" Diego asked Five.

"Forty-two years" Five answered.

"That's a trip".

"No kidding" Five muttered. "You know, when we were stuck out there in the apocalypse-" Five said as Diego tried to pick the lock with his knife "-there wasn't a day that went by where I didn't hear his voice in my head" Five said looking through the glass door into the building.

"What was he saying?" Diego asked.

"'I told you so'" Five said.

Diego scoffed "Well, if Dad's here, he's never met you before, so he can't say 'I told you so'".

"I'm sure he'll find a way".

Inanna knew the relationship that Five had with his Dad, although she never witnessed it, she had heard enough stories over the years to know that Reginald Hargreeves didn't love any of his child. Inanna's relationship with her family was the polar opposite.

Before Inanna was even born her parents had split up, however, she was still raised by both her mother, Iris, and father, Jonny, who remained close. When Inanna was five, her father remarried, moving to the next state over with his new wife, and a few years later Inanna's mother rekindled things with a past girlfriend who helped raise Inanna along with her own son, Jacob.

Jonny still saw Inanna as often as he could, he never missed a single phone call, a birthday or special day. Inanna was his whole world. Even when they drifted apart as she entered her teenage years, Jonny still made the effort, often taking Jacob out on the day trips instead of Inanna when she refused to go.

Inanna had wondered, especially when it got quiet in the apocalypse, what her relationship with her father would have looked like when she had left high school. She always thought they'd grow closer again, but Inanna would never know.

Five blinked into the building, unlocking the door from the inside, to impatient to let Diego finish picking the lock.

"Right" Diego nodded "Gotta remember that" He said standing up as Diego held the door open for him and Inanna.

Five closed the door behind the three of them, and followed Inanna and Diego into the dark building.

Feeling slightly unsettled by the darkness of the building and her gut telling her to 'get the hell out' Inanna's hand found Five's as he fell into step next to her.

Inanna had done many things in her life and had gone by a few different names as to never be remembered across time, but with everything she had done and seen, she had never shook her fear of the dark. She could blame it on the apocalypse, and the loud wind that swirled through each ruined 'home' she and Five lived in for weeks at a time, but Inanna knew her fear was rooted in a horror movie she had watched when she was 6 years old.

Five pulled Inanna closer to him, his arm brushing hers and they followed Diego into one of the rooms.

Five switched on a lamp and before he had took two steps away from it, the lamp flickered before switching off again.

"Shit" Diego said "Guess Dad wasn't much for home decor".

Five punched one of the dark blue pillows that sat on the couch next to him, noticing a layer of dust that had collected on the fabric. "Feels like a front" Five said.

"A front for what?" Diego asked.

"I don't know" Five mumbled.

"This place just got creepier. I don't like it" Inanna said, she glanced over her shoulder to the door, feeling as if she was being watched.

"I don't like it either" Five said his eyes darting to Inanna briefly when she squeezed his hand tighter and her body phased, almost going unnoticed in the darkness of the room — Diego didn't see it, but Five did.

"Well, I'll take the left" Diego pointed at the left door with his knife. "Yell if you, uh... get into trouble" Diego suggested.

"Got it" Inanna mumbled going to the right door with Five as Diego exited out the left "Yell" She muttered.

"Are you scared?" Five asked Inanna, his tone slightly teasing as the door clicked shut behind them.

"No" Inanna muttered looking down the long white and dull corridor that was dimly lit by a few lights on the walls. She slipped her hand from Five's, the lights barely settling her nerves.

Five grasped Inanna's hand as she went to slip it into her coat pocket. "Just so you don't wander off" Five said his head leaning towards hers, a smile pulling on the corner of his lips.

Inanna rolled her eyes as she stepped away from Five, her hand still holding his as she tried one of the doors. She had no luck when she twisted the handle, it was locked.

"What exactly are we looking for?" Inanna asked Five as he tried the door opposite.

"Any- it's unlocked" Five whispered. Five pushed the door open and switched on the light switch outside of the door.

As the lights inside the room flickered on slowly, Inanna noticed (although they weren't hard to miss in the middle of the room, facing the door) three mannequins — a family — sat around a coffee table, and a painting of a fake window view behind them, half covered by drawn curtains. It was like a film set.

"What are you up to?" Five mumbled.

Five and Inanna went to the next room which was also unlocked, the layout was similar, with a different set of mannequins sat around a dining table, with a camera set up across from them.

Inanna's hand fell from Five's as he began searching through the files on top of a desk behind the camera and Inanna walked towards one of the mannequins.

"Is he like- like a film director?" Inanna asked, she kept her distance from the mannequin as she leaned towards it, partially afraid that the mannequin would move.

"My Dad is many things, but I don't think a film director is one of them" Five said opening a white envelope that had been unsealed already.

Across a white sheet of card, in black font was a written invitation inviting the receiver to a gala on the 18th of November at the Mexican Consulate.

"Do you still know how to dance?" Five asked peering over his shoulder to Inanna.

"I never knew how to dance" Inanna scoffed "Why?" Inanna asked as she straightened herself back up, she took a step back from the Mannequins as Five turned to her with the invitation in his hand. "What's that?" Inanna asked.

"I think I know where we can find my Dad" Five said, he crossed the room handing Inanna the invitation for her to read over.

"A gala? Sounds fancy" Inanna mumbled as she handed the invitation back to Five.

"We'll get you a nice dress" Five said folding the card along the fold crease already made.

"Who said-" Inanna's words disappeared before they left her lips, a loud clatter of metal from the other side of the room startling both her and Five as Five slipped the invitation into his blazer pocket.

Five left Inanna's side, moving across the room quietly as he searched for whatever had fallen or made the sound, crouching down to look underneath the prop table.

In a dark corner of the room, furthest away from where Inanna was stood, with her hands balled by her sides as she tried to calm her heart rate that had spiked at the sudden scare, a small chimpanzee appeared slowly.

Five's eyes widened."Hi. Pogo." Five whispered.

Five crouched down as Pogo walked towards him "It's all right, little buddy" Five whispered as Pogo stopped in front of him. "Pogo. It's good to see you" Five said.

Inanna didn't move. She knew who Pogo was, but it didn't stop the shock that ran through her, it wasn't everyday that someone ran into a chimpanzees, never mind one that was advanced.

Suddenly Pogo screeched as he swung his arm at Five, scratching his claws into Five's neck. Five fell backwards, his hand pressing against the scratches as Pogo jumped out the window next to them.

Hearing the glass shatter, Inanna ran over to Five, crouching down next to him. Five moved his hand, his face scrunched up as he tilted his head slightly for Inanna to see the scratches. The scratches weren't that deep, but deep enough to draw blood and potentially leave behind a scar.

"I don't think he likes you" Inanna said, she stood up and extended her hand to Five, pulling him up to his feet.

Five ignored Inanna's comment, his hand covering the scratches again "We need to find Diego" Inanna nodded.

After an unsuccessful search of D.S Umbrella, finding nothing but a pool of blood and their stolen car missing from the front of the building, Inanna and Five called their searched for Diego quits and headed back to the apartment.

Neither of them knew what had happened to Diego, Five assumed that he had been killed, but Inanna, thought with a little bit of hope, believing that maybe he had been injured and driven himself back to the apartment. But when Five blinked them inside of the apartment, those questions and thoughts were answered before they even stepped out of the kitchen.

Laying across the couch, his head propped up on a cushion was Diego, his clothes missing — with only a bed sheet covering himself — and Lila crouched above him, cauterising a stab wound on his side.

"Oh. He isn't dead" Five said.

Inanna was rather relieved that Diego wasn't dead. She didn't know him well, and he definitely was more irritating than the character Inanna had built up in her mind, but he was Five's family.

Inanna stepped around Elliott who was still tied up in the chair, his head thrown back as he slept, to pour herself a cup of coffee, although every inch of her body was asking her not to.

"Disappointed?" Lila asked.

"Oh, to see you?" Five asked crossing the room to grab a tissue off the table. "Always" Five answered with a smile.

"So much hostility in such a tiny package" Lila said. Five went back to the doorway leaning against the frame as he pressed the tissue to the scratches on his neck. "Did you cut yourself shaving? I could teach you to shave like a big boy".

Five sighed "No, I just ran into an old family friend" Five looked over his shoulder, Elliott's quiet snores catching his attention. "You didn't untie him?" Five asked.

"Was I supposed to?" Lila asked.

"It would have been nice" Inanna said as she lifted the coffee cup to her lips, she hadn't used the one with the chip, not wanting to further damage another one of Elliott's cups.

"You gonna help me untie him?" Five pointed to Elliott, his question directed at Inanna.

Inanna shook her head no. "You and Diego tied him up. I was very against it if you recall. You untie him" Inanna pointed at Five and then at Elliott "Give him an explanation to explain the Frankel Footage and clean those scratches on your neck before you get some kind of infection".

"And what will you be doing?" Five asked Inanna, he tilted his head, watching as she stepped back around Elliott to him.

"I'm going to bed".

"Really?" Five asked.

Inanna stopped in front of Five, tilting her head to look at the scratches. She was no expert when it came to anything medical but Five was still breathing and he wasn't complaining anymore about his neck hurting, so she assumed he was going to survive.

Inanna nodded "Not all of us can survive on just coffee" Inanna kissed Five's cheek before disappearing into the bedroom, leaving the freshly poured cup of coffee on the kitchen counter.

Five shook his head, a sigh leaving his mouth as he looked from the bedroom door to Elliott. Lila chuckled as she pressed the hot rod against Diego's skin again.

"You two are just adorable".

question of the day:
favourite masked character reveal?

mine is the winter solider. when his mask falls off during the fight and steve is like "bucky??" and then bucky is like "who the hell is bucky????"

also, quick story time. i didn't like captain america until after i watched endgame, so i had never seen any of his movies and never really paid much attention to him in the other movies. i just basically blanked him out of my mind. but after i watched endgame i decided to give steve a chance and rewatched every movie he was in, ultimately falling in love with bucky barnes within the first two seconds of him being introduced in the first CA movie. so i knew bucky was alive but i was still shocked because i didn't know bucky's back story when i watched endgame (i don't think i even knew his name...)

this is confusing so just ignore my story time.
