Part 1
In a sprawling kingdom, just before the Outskirts, a small quaint farm thrived. This farm had been owned by the Park clan for decades, although not as long as some other clans within the kingdom. Nearly seventy years ago, a new ruler had claimed the throne and had forced most of the Eastern Clans to migrate. The King had been fascinated with the Eastern Clans' control of plant life, but most especially of their unearthly beauty. The Eastern Clans all held a gentle but cutting beauty, with dark, inviting eyes, plush mouths, and memorizing curves. Rumors throughout the continent claimed that the men were just as appealing as the women.
So, fascinated and lust driven, the king brought the most powerful of the Eastern Clans, the Parks, into his own court to live among the nobles. But as years passed, the Parks' powers grew dim from living away from their sacred forests in the Eastern Lands. Furious at his loss, the king demanded exile to the commonland villages.
And so, on this little farm lived a young clan member. His name was Jimin. He was nearing his eighteenth season, just a few days from now. On the morning of said day, he would be escorted to the Palace, where he would have his fate read by the Prophetess. The likeliest thing that would happen would be for him to be Fated as a farmer along with the rest of his family. So far, there hadn't been a single Park who hadn't been fated with the menial but comforting task. It was expected, not only by Jimin but also his entire family..
After, he would return home and possibly, hopefully, begin his quiet life with the pretty girl from the Kim clan, who looked so much like her equally pretty brother, Taehyung. The Kims were another of the Eastern clans who had been forced to move here so long ago. Jimin had been courting his best friend's sister for months now, and hoped the Elders would approve a vow ceremony, come the next New Moon.
Presently admiring the work he'd just finished, he went inside, first kissing his mother's cheek, then his grandmother's. He had a very close connection with his grandmother, recalling his younger years of listening to the stories she told so fondly of the clan's forgotten powers. And of course, theri gods, Krish, Night Everlasting, and his lover, Epona, Stars Eternal.
As the stories went, Nyx was a powerful, dark-hearted warlord, using ravens as his warriors and accomplices. Epona was his lighter counterpart, her familiars being doves. Without their other half, the god's powers raged out of control. Krish went wild and reveled in the darkness and chaos he commanded, whereas Epona became incredibly naive and child-like. The two lovers were forced to part every new moon, though, where the darkness swelled and the stars glowed their very brightest.
While most of the clans members thought of the legend as a child's tale, Jimin felt he could...somehow connect with Epona, her graceful innocence, and he had always seen something more in the stars at night.
But the dark.
The dark he craved, worse than those stupid weeks of his sixteenth season where his older brother got him addicted to poppy milk. He liked to roam the village at night, finding comfort and a draw so deep he shivered at the thought. More than once, he'd dreamt of the night sky, stars like cold, polished glass. And in that dream, the voice never failed to speak to him.
A voice, deeper than the space beyod the stars, softer than the velvet caress of the night. Every morning he'd waken up from the dream, the voice lingered, whispering sweetly to him throughout the day.
Jimin loved that voice, desperately desired to find the person attached to it.
Perhaps.... Fate was on his side.
