Percy Weasley ✔
TITLE: Puddlemere
PLOT BY: LeviosaDragon
STATUS: taken by yellowbeesknees
COVER:
DESCRIPTION:
Despite never being a fan of quidditch, Percy Weasley finds himself agreeing to go and watch a quidditch match when Ginny brings him a pair of tickets and refuses to take no for an answer.
What he doesn't know is that, a) in one of the teams would play his childhood crush and b) Ginny has taken up the role of matchmaker after George has bet with her that Percy would never reveal his feelings for a certain keeper.
BACKGROUND:
• Post war, around 2001–2002
• Percy is still grieving Fred's death and blaming himself for it.
• Ginny is the ultimate Perciver shipper and has been betting with her brothers, especially the twins, about it since her school days.
• But they soon forgot about it when Percy left home.
• After the war, Ginny starts playing with Holyhead Harpies and frequently comes into contact with Oliver Wood.
• One day, she is talking to George at the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and mentions Oliver. George makes the bet, and thinks nothing of it, but Ginny takes it seriously and decides to play the role of matchmaker.
• She does this mainly to help Percy feel happy again.
• So they go to watch the match, where Oliver plays as keeper.
OTHER INFORMATION:
• I personally see Percy being closest to Ginny among his siblings because she is the only one who doesn't make fun of him.
• This story is pretty lighthearted, maybe a bit humorous, though make sure to portray Percy's struggles and grief well. He will feel guilty for Fred's death, and will constantly blame himself for it. I imagine him not wanting to visit his family because he thinks that they were happy without him and that he is the reason the Weasleys have to go through shit.
• So obviously it will take Ginny quite some effort to persuade him to go with her.
• Oliver hasn't lost anyone close in the war, but he does feel the aftereffects, which causes him to engross himself deeper into quidditch.
• Percy has had a crush on him in fourth or fifth year, but he doesn't acknowledge it.
• It will be sort of a slow burn story because both of them are trying to recover from the war – Percy by working, and Oliver by quidditch. So none of them would be ready to pursue a relationship.
• But both of them understand each other very well, because both know what it is like to be judged for your immense love for your job, which is the major push for them to start confiding in each other.
• They start matching their schedules to meet up and spend time together.
• At the end of the day, this is a happy ending, with both of them being content with their relationship. However, the major focus of the book is on the journey to overcome obstacles and reach the happy ending.
• Again, do remember that one cannot recover from a war in a few days, and it will take time for them to feel comfortable with themselves and with each other.
• PM me if you have any questions about the plot.
