Description:

In an attempt to escape the looks he receives from his peers as well as Professors due to his incompetency in magic, Neville Longbottom escapes to the Forbidden Forest one early morning to spend some time with the plants.

There he meets someone who gives him acknowledgement and encouragement - something which he had never received before. But despite his immense interest in Herbology, he has never read about any being that lives in trees, and he looks through magical as well as muggle books to gather information. For the girl he had met is a tree nymph, whose life is intertwined with plants.

Details:

• The tree nymph (dryad) will be very kind to Neville and encourage him to study and work hard.

• Neville will visit her (or him) frequently and when he feels lonely.

• They tell each other stuff about their own world.

• The nymph teaches him loads about plants.

• Neville tells him/her about his parents and feels proud when he does so.

• The story takes place in Neville's fourth year, because that's when McGonagall criticises him and tells him to be good in front of the guests, and he feels underestimated.

• Some suggested names for the nymph - Polinome, Robinia, Edulis, Bessera, Lilia, Berrypha. You can find a name of your choice as well.

• You can incorporate Greek mythology into the story.

• You must show Neville's character development and how the nymph influences him.

• They can grow interest in each other, or they can remain as good friends.

• (I really like this idea) During the war, the nymph summons other nymphs and they wrap roots and branches around death eaters and bring them to their deaths.
