Chapter 19

After getting a few more hours of sleep in, I woke up to a bundle of fur in my face. Gently pushing it away, I lean up before smiling down at the bundle stirring slightly.
The bundle of fur that I had gotten as a late Christmas gift but also as an apology gift. I couldn't believe it when Drew knocked on my door the day after Christmas, with the same bundle of fur cradled in his arms.
The bundle of fur is Sadie. My Australian Shepard puppy.
Slipping out of bed, I pull my hair into a ponytail before pulling on a pair of sweatpants over my shorts. I loved sleeping with my window cracked open so I could snuggle up in bed with a mountain full of blankets, but I hated having to get out of bed with only a pair of shorts on.
Unplugging my phone from my charger, I note the time with a low whistle. A "few" more hours of sleep apparently means seven. It's currently 11:04 AM.
After quickly sending Drew a good morning text, I scroll through my contacts and click on Callie's name.
A few seconds later, Callie popped up on the screen. Her hair was in a messy bun, a small smile on her lips.
"Morning," she chirps.
I arch an eyebrow as I tip toe my way out of my room and down the stairs. "Hey, what's going on today?"
There was movement through the screen as Callie sat in her vanity chair that was in her room.
Everyone knows that Taylor, Callie and I all love our makeup with a passion. It's one of the things that brought us together.
But out of the three of us, Callie was the one most passionate about it. She hadn't talked about it much, but she had once told me that she wanted to go to college to become a makeup artist. The few people she had mentioned it to had said she would be amazing at it.
Her vanity set was only a small portion of her collection. Her walk-in closet was where most of it was at.
Callie must have propped her phone in front of the mirror because she was looking straight ahead, but not at me.
"We're going to the County Fair, Lona. We already talked about it."
By the time she actually responded, I had poured myself a cup of coffee. My mom was dragging her feet around the kitchen, pulling breakfast ingredients from the fridge and cabinets.
Taking a long sip of the burning hot coffee, I extend my left hand out, my face contorting into distaste.
Not enough creamer. Definitely not enough.
"Malona!" Callie shouted through the phone, probably annoyed.
Setting the mug on the counter, I chuckle nervously. "Yeah, sorry. I can't start my morning without coffee. But um, yeah, I know. But what time do you want Drew and I to be there?"
My mom gently scooted me aside and poured more creamer into my coffee.
I take a hesitant sip before sighing. "Thank you," I mouth, trying not to interrupt Callie's babbling.
"Come over as soon as you can so we can go catch a movie. Don't bring Drew though. I want some girl's time. Oh, and you know how Taylor is talking to that guy, um, what's his face-"
"You mean Will? Her 'almost' boyfriend?" I inquire as I make my way back up to my room.
"Yeah, yeah, him. She's bringing him tonight so it's gonna be a triple date, that's exciting right? My point is, we're going to have a no boys get together before we meet them later tonight."
I try to suppress my laughter. I take a seat at my own vanity set and take a gulp of coffee. "Alright, I'm gonna get ready now. "
Callie stopped mid air as she was about to apply her foundation. "I think we should go for an 'I tried, but not really' look.
I nod once. "You read my mind."
* * *
A few years ago Callie had separated different makeup looks into five groups.
You can't even tell, I tried but not really, I'm climbing up the makeup ladder, I know, I've got talent, and I'm the bride, bitch.
Basically, Callie just made up different names for the already existing makeup looks.
The looks that fit into the 'You can't even tell' category are all natural, simple and light.
As for 'I tried, but not really' looks, we go for something a little more noticeable, something that basically says, "hey, I didn't try my hardest, but I put in a little effort to make it seem like I have somewhere important to be."
'I'm climbing up the makeup ladder' is when we aim for something more out there. Something more unique and tells everyone that we are improving on our makeup skills.
'I know, I've got talent' is when we want to do a full coverage look, but keep it at a level where we have people's attention, but no one stops to stare just yet.
That goes in the category for 'I'm the bride, bitch' looks. That's when we go all out on our looks and basically apply any and all makeup products on. That's when we really, really want attention and want everyone's eyes on us.

For the next forty-five minutes, Callie and I chatted through the phone as we applied our makeup. By the time I was done, I had finished off my coffee and Sadie was lying by my feet now.
"Alright, I'm starved. I'm gonna head downstairs for breakfast." Glancing at the clock on my night stand, I get to my feet. "I'll be over around 12:30, okay?"
Callie sent me a thumbs up as she rummaged through her drawers. She still wasn't done.
After saying goodbye, I hang up and straighten up my room before getting dressed and heading downstairs, Sadie hot on my heels.
At the bottom, I turned around and patted her on the head. "You hungry girl? Let's go get something to eat."
I never thought in a million years that I would get a dog. Especially given the fact that my brother may have an allergic reaction to them. I didn't think my parents would allow it.
But they did.
Not only am I thankful for Sadie, I'm also thankful for the boy who gave her to me.
It just proves that Andrew loves me almost as much as I love him. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Heyy guys! It's been a few minutes huh? Well, here is chapter 19 :) I know it's not the best, but I really want to keep these chapters short so I can update more.
Trust me, I have been thinking about writing more just to have more chapters ready beforehand. I will try my best, but I don't know if I'll have a ton of time throughout the week. But I'm gonna try! :)
What do you guys think about Sadie? I know there's not a lot of information about the cutie pie yet, but so far, what do you think?
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this somewhat okay chapter :D
Oh, and if you haven't yet, be sure to follow my Instagram account to know when a chapter is up at sk_wattpad
This is how I imagine Lona's vanity set/area. :)
