Last year, I found a copy of Insurgent: Collector's Edition at one of my local libraries (I have three). I was really excited because it included a whole lot of bonus contents and I photocopied them 'cause, why not? And in this chapter, I'm going to present one of those bonus contents to you all with added commentary from our favorite characters.

<ABNEGATION>

WEAR: Know what (not) to wear. Keep it simple with loose-fitting grey clothing and a plain hairstyle. Likewise, if you're a girl, skip the makeup and jewelry, unless it's a humble (and practical) watch.

PLAY: Serve the community! Hold a canned food drive and collect donations at the door, or plant a neighborhood garden as a group. The Abnegation are all about giving back to society.

DECORATIONS: Keep it simple. Most decorations would consider self-indulgent by the Abnegation, but smooth, simple grey stones (like pebbles) are a good reminder of Abnegation values—and you can probably find a practical purpose for them later, too.

[Shauna: Like stopping blood loss from a bullet wound with a piece of twine when you are in the middle of a forest. Don't ask where I learned that.]

EAT: Stay modest with some cheese and crackers. It is a party, though, so try some simple, undecorated cookies for dessert.

[Tris: You forgot to add 'sugar-free' for the cookies.]

[Tobias: I don't think the Abnegation recognize the word 'dessert'.]

[Tris: But if they do have dessert, it would probably be stale bread.]

[Tobias: *laughing* Oatmeal.]

[Tris: Milk!]

<AMITY>

WEAR: Brighten up your wardrobe with Amity's signature red and yellow. The Amity are equally at home in an art studio or garden, so dress for comfort. As a representative of Amity, you'll be dishing out a lot of hugs!

PLAY: Get social with a game for an outgoing group, like charades and Pictionary. Just remember, there are no sore losers in Amity!

[Marlene: I like Pictionary! What? It's fun, especially when Uriah is drawing. You should all saw that one time.]

[Uriah: Mar, my drawing is not that bad!]

DECORATIONS: Make it festive with red and yellow flowers, along with other decorations that represents Amity's dedication to the Earth.

EAT: Snack on earthy tidbits like gummy worms, animal crackers, and fresh fruits. And don't forget the infamous Amity bread!

[Tris: *flashbacks, then gulps* You know what? I'll pass the bread.]

[Tobias: *notices Tris's reaction and grins* Yeah, we don't want a repeat of last time, do we?]

[Tris: *blushing* Shut up!]

[Christina: *looking back and forth at Tris and Tobias* What's going on?]

[Tris: The beard is dosed with Peace serum.]

[Christina: No, I didn't ask about the bread. I mean what happened between you two.]

[Caleb: Wait, is that why I felt less depressed the last time I was at Amity?]

<CANDOR>

WEAR: Be bold with Candor black and white. In your sharpest suit or a dramatic striped shirt, you'll have nothing to hide! Leave the make-believe—and your makeup—at home.

PLAY: Tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth in a game of truth or dare! (Hint: We dare you to choose truth.)

[Christina: Hmm...this suggestion just might come in handy...]

[Tris: Oh, no... You are not going to do that to me at tonight's Candor or Dauntless, Christina.]

DECORATIONS: See through others' lies: At the Choosing Ceremony, Candor is represented by clear glass. Glass party decor will be a reminder of your faction's devotion to transparency.

EAT: Snack on some straightforward chow like carrots, or celery with peanut butter. Or look up a recipe to make black-and-white cookies!

[Will: And don't forget the ice-cream. I really do enjoy those.]

<DAUNTLESS>

[Zeke: *throws hands up* Finally!]

WEAR: Show your faction pride with a daring all-black ensemble. Girls, wear your flashiest earrings and deck yourself out in some temporary ink—then pull it all together with a dramatic helping of eyeliner. Guys, this your chance to rock that leather jacket!

[Christina: Now we're talking! Tris, come on! Four won't be able to take his eyes off you in that dress!]

[Tris: *turning red* It's barely a dress, Christina! You are definitely not going to be able to make me wear that thing.]

PLAY: Be adventurous in an outdoor game with your faction-mates. Nothing brings back memories of Dauntless initiation like an epic round of Capture the Flag!

[Uriah: *shoots paintball at Lynn then turns and runs*]

[Lynn: *covered in paint, shouting after and chasing Uriah* Come back here, you pansycake!]

DECORATIONS: Bring the heat to your decor: Draw inspiration from the Dauntless' symbolic coal and fire.

EAT: Be fearless! Snack on some spicy chips and wasabi peas. And enjoy Tris's favorite Dauntless food discoveries: hamburgers and cake!

[Uriah: *steals all the Dauntless cake from the table and running way with it* The cake is mine!]

[Everyone (almost): *chasing after Uriah* Uriah!]

[Tobias: *bringing out a slice of Dauntless cake that he has hidden and starts eating it in relative peace*]

<ERUDITE>

WEAR: Take your outfit to school with a pair of glasses or your favorite bookbag. Gentlemen, represent your faction with a blue dress shirt. Ladies, put your hair up in a cute—and practical!—bun secured with a pencil, and pair the new updo with a cardigan in Erudite blue.

PLAY: Test your smarts with a game of Trivial Pursuit. Study up! If you don't make the cut, you could be stuck cleaning lab equipment (i.e. doing dishes!) for the rest of the party.

[Uriah: Noses.]

DECORATIONS: Reflect on the mission of your chosen faction with Erudite's Choosing Ceremony symbol, water—procure a small fountain if possible, or set out clear centerpieces filled with water. For another reminder of your faction, tint the water blue with food coloring.

EAT: Fuel your brain with snackable study aids like trail mix and popcorn, and caffeinated beverages that can help you pull all-night study-a-thons.

[Cara: But my favorite are the fizzy drinks. Also known as carbonated water. And what you guys call soda.]
