Natalie hands me some pain meds for my muscles, and the eye drops, as well as holds a nice breakfast for me. For the most part I have gotten the same things everyday, eggs and bacon for breakfast, a sandwich and a water for lunch, and meat, potatoes and salad for dinner. There isn't much flavor, but it is at least something.
I grab the juice from my tray and swallow the pills, then put in the drops. I shake my head when they go in, feeling something weird. "Ah, I think I got dust in my eye." I whine, rubbing them.
Natalie laughs, "You're such a baby."
Suddenly I feel something like a pop, and a small buzz shocks my eye. I squeal, blinking rapidly.
Oh my god. I know what it is.
"Tris, are you alright?" Natalie inquires, grabbing my hand with a mother-like touch.
I nod, looking up at her, "I'm perfect."
Quickly, I double tap my temple. My vision blurs for a moment, small sparks flickering across my vision, before I know it's recording. Now I just have to hope and pray somebody at the DPA sees this.
Natalie tilts her head, "Are you sure? That was kind of strange."
I smile, "Yeah, just a twitch I guess."
She puts the tray on a small table next to me, which I pull over the bed.
"I think David is doing another infusion today." She says, throwing away some trash from the side of my bed.
I shake my head, "Fantastic. What is this, number four?"
She thinks, "Yeah. Maybe you won't wake up for this one. When he did that super speed, you didn't even flinch."
I barely remember it, but I do remember waking up to David at the side of the bed. He threw me a ball which I caught without realizing I had even moved.
"I believe it's invisibility, and he might try for two if he gets the other one in time." She explains.
I nod, shoving some eggs in my mouth, "That's interesting."
"Are you sure you're okay Tris? Something doesn't seem right." She asks raising her eyebrows.
I let out a breath, "I'm fine, really."
"If you say so."

I hold my head in my hands, tired after a long day. The monitors are the same as usual, just crowds of people hoarding through the stone halls of the compound. I shut them off, and grab my bag.
God, this shouldn't be like this.
A month and a half ago it was fine, David was so close to being taken down. But my Bea, oh my Bea. My beautiful, kind, but quick-thinking Bea. She had to explode.
That thought just replays in my mind, over and over again.
I could be holding her right now. She could be laughing and sitting on my lap, or sitting next to me biting her lip. Anything could be better.
I let out a breath, walking downstairs to the cafeteria. My friends sit in the middle, as usual. Zeke beckons me over, smiling.
I don't know how he can smile so easily.
My body slumps into the chair next to him, and I lay my pounding head on the cool table. Shauna sighs, placing a hand on my arm. I don't shy away, I don't do anything.
"Four, eat." Christina demands, shoving a plate of food next to me.
"I don't want to." I mumble, turning to face the other direction.
Zeke nudges me with his elbow, "Come on man, you didn't eat breakfast or lunch. You have to eat something."
I sigh, bringing myself up, "Why? Why does it matter?"
"It's officially been eight weeks today." Christina interrupts.
My face grows cold, my breath stopping. Eight weeks. Eight fucking weeks. Eight weeks since everybody came back. Every man, woman, and child in hospital gowns, dripping with sweat, starved, came back to the DPA. All of the agents came back. But Bea didn't.
I stand up, storming out of the cafeteria. My feet lead me to the only safe haven I've found here. I can feel as the water begins splashing over my face, creating little droplets on my skin. The harsh falls spray earthy-smelling water all over me as I settle down on the rails. My boots swing over the edge, and I lean on the railings.
And finally, since this all started, I let myself cry. My body shakes, sobs coursing through me. My face is just a blur of chasm water and tears. I can't take this anymore. There is so much pain, so much loss. I can't go home, I can't go be a normal teenager.
David was never caught, so nobody can go back to a normal life. David was never caught, so we know he has my Bea.
God, if we just would have stayed at home, not done this mission, we could be laughing and going out to dinner and playing stupid games and making stupid jokes. But, we might be dead, if you think about it.
David would have made the reversal serum and we would all be dead.
Bea is always selfless.
My tears stop pouring, although my eyes remain puffy. I bury my head in my arms, breathing heavily.
"You alright?" I hear Zeke from behind me, and look back to see everybody.
I nod, offering a small smile. He sits next to me, Uriah on my other side. They both put an arm around me as the other sit beside them.
"We all miss her." Christina says, earning a chorus of agreement.
"No matter where she is, you know she just wants us to be safe." Shauna adds.
I nod, letting out an exasperated sigh, "I wish wish we could've gone on one more date. Watched a movie one more time. One more anything."
Uriah laughs, "One more slap to the head?"
"One more girls night." Lynn mutters.
"One more Dauntless Cake." Will adds.
I laugh, shaking my head. We spend the next few minutes reminiscing in all of those stupid little memories. All of those memories that barely meant anything when they happened, but mean the world now.
One things for certain, and it's what I'm scared of. After all of this, Bea is going to be changed. There is no way anything that is being done to her is for the better.
"I'm gonna go get my phone, I think I left it in the security office." I say, standing up.
"I'll come with." Zeke says, jumping up, and almost slipping. I grab his arm, shaking my head, "One day you're gonna fall and I'm gonna laugh."
He sticks his tongue out at me, laughing before we head off down the hall.
I turn down a sharp corner, using the dim light to help me find my way around. "This is creepy as hell, how do you work down here?" Zeke shudders, tripping over a rock.
I shrug, "I'm not afraid of the dark."
Finally we get to the hefty metal door, and I open it. Zeke spots my phone and snatches it before me, and I lunge after him, laughing.
"David, stop!"
The voice comes from the bottom monitor, catching us both by surprise. My head snaps over, watching as an image pops up on the screen. You can clearly see someone in a hospital bed, their body fazing in and out, some parts going transparent, some not.
She screams, begging him to stop. The image pans over, to show David injecting a milky white substance into some tubing. In then goes dark for a minute, the screams slowing down. It flickers back on to show the person breathing heavily, David gone. It pans once more to the other side, showing a nurse holding her hand. "It's okay Tris, you're going to be okay." She says, smiling.
Bea.
I look down in the corner at the information. It say the date and time, two hours behind us, and the location is California. Wait, that means this is being recorded now. Right now.
"Zeke, go get Max, now!" I yell, still staring at the screen. His footsteps echo through the halls, as I watch the screen carefully.
Another person enters the screen again, David. This time holding some kind of green serum.
"We might as well do another!" He exclaims.
She screams, crying, "Please, god, no!"
I wince as I hear her blood curdling scream one last time before the image goes black.
