Chapter 30
3 month time skip, brought to you by Theo James pure hotness
Eliza squeals, laughing again as Ashlen splashes her with water. Ash hits the water, and freezes the whole tub. They both start squealing, but not crying.
"You silly girl!" I coo, melting the water.
She laughs, splashing me. Someone knocks on the door, and peeks in.
"Blake!" I exclaim, pulling out the baby shampoo.
He looks at the wet mess around us, and laughs, "Need some help?"
I smile, "Exactly. I need you to hold her as I wash her hair."
He takes off his jacket, and leans beside the tub with me. Blake pick up Eliza, and holds her upwards in the water. I start washing her hair, and she pats the bubbles. I laugh, pulling her arms down. Without warning, she pulls up a giant bubble of water, and throws it at Blake, soaking him.
I laugh, rubbing her arm, "Good Ellie, get him all wet!"
Ash laughs at her sister and throws water at me.
Blake chuckles, "Karma!"
I stick my tongue out, and rinse off her hair. Once we finish washing the girls, each of us wraps one up in a towel. I hold Ashlen, as she tries to eat the towel.
"Let's bring them out to your parents, then I need to dry off." Blake says, holding up Ellie.
We walk out to the living room, and Mom laughs as she sees our soaking wet clothes. I hand Ash to her, and smile, "She was just trouble today!"
Mom laughs holding her close, "Go clean up. Where did Blake come from?"
I shrug, "He kind of just walked in."
"You can't get rid of me, I'm everywhere, all the time." Blake jokes, giving Eliza to Dad.
"What are you two up to today then?" Dad asks, bouncing her.
"I thought we might go downtown today, if you'd let us." Blake asks, smiling at Dad.
Dad gives him a stern look, "Will you be back by eleven, for curfew?"
"Most definitely sir." He responds.
Dad nods, "Okay then, be careful."
"We won't go for a while Dad, we still have to change and dry off." I add, as we turn to go back to my room.
Blake and I walk over to my room, and I pull out some clothes to change into. He grabs some clothes he left here before, that were in my closet. Sometimes he spends the night to help with the girls or if we do homework together.
I change in the bathroom, and he changed in the closet. I put on black denim shorts, a grey sweatshirt crop top, and black sneakers. Since I'm already in my bathroom, I pull my hair into a messy bun, and do some neutral eye makeup with baby pink lips.
I walk out, and Blake is sitting on my bed, staring at his phone. I stand in front of him, and snap my fingers in his face, "Earth to Blake?"
He shakes his head, "Oh, uh, yeah. Sorry. Let's get going."
I grab my phone and money, and we head out. Instead of Brutus, we have Blake's guard, Arnold, with us. We head out of the compound, and up the long stairs. This time, I keep up. Just like every day, we jump onto the train with ease. I sit on the far end, Blake next to me, and Arnold sits by the door.
"I've already decided, we are getting Amity Ice Cream first." I tell him, leaning onto his chest.
"But what if I wanted frozen yogurt?" He responds sarcastically.
"Then you would have to suck it up." I smirk, smiling at him.
He laughs, shaking his head, "You're lucky I love you."
Wait...did he just say I love you?
"I-I love you too." I reply, giving him a kiss.
Blake seems to not even notice what he said. I ignore it, and lay against him the whole ride. When we finally get closer, I jump first, landing roughly in the grass. Blake comes after me, then his guard.
We walk down the hill, to the buildings of downtown Chicago. There aren't too many people around, which I am glad for. We walk on the outskirts before getting to the heart of the rebuilt buildings, where there are stores, restaurants, and my favorite, food carts. They have different foods from all over Chicago on just a few blocks.
Blake holds my hand as we walk towards Amity Ice Cream. They've been doing it ever since they reopened downtown, and it is my all time favorite ice cream. They even have a Dauntless Cake flavor!
We finally get there, and Arnold holds the door open for us, and a group who comes in after. We get in line, and I look at all of their flavors.
"Get whatever you want, I'm paying." Blake tells me.
I grin, "Thank you babe."
We finally get up to the front of the line. "Hello, what can I get you two today?" The Amity woman at the front asks, all smiles.
"Can I get a scoop of Dauntless cake and a scoop of caramel fudge in a cone please?" I ask, smiling.
"Sure thing sweetie!" She tells me, as she scoops out the flavors. They do gigantic scoops here.
She hands me my cone, then Blake gets a scoop of birthday cake and a scoop of Dauntless cake. We sit down in the outside area, Arnold standing a few feet away. It's a little creepy having guards follow you everywhere.
I lick off a little bit that's dripping on the side, and take a bite from the top. "Like I said, best. Ice Cream. Ever."
Blake nods, his face covered in cream. I laugh, throwing a few napkins at him. He wipes it off, and grins like an idiot. That boy...
I finish eating my ice cream, quickly at that, and eat the cone. "Are you ready to go?" I ask Blake, grabbing my things.
"Where are we going now?" He asks, standing up.
"I want to go to that jewelry place over on the next block, I wanted to get Mom something." I tell him, walking out.
"That sounds like a girl thing, but I guess I can help you." He adds, grabbing my hand again.
We walk wordlessly down the street, listening to the sound of feet against concrete and the occasional car going down the road. I spot the sign, that flashes "Johanna's Jewelry" in bright letters.
I open the door, and the second Johanna sees me, she lights up. I haven't met her much, besides when my parents showed me to her when I was a baby, but she knows all about me.
"Natalie! Look at you!" She walks out from behind the counter, and pulls me into a bone-crushing hug.
I pull away, "Um, Hi Johanna."
She shakes her head, and laughs, "I'm sorry, I'm being so Amity! You probably can't even remember my face."
I smile, "It's okay, it's still nice to see you."
She examines my face, "You have your Dad's eyes, and your Mom's face. You are such a gorgeous child."
"Thanks. Can we look at the bracelets now?"
She nods, "Oh, of course. Is that your boyfriend?"
I hit my head on Blake's shoulder, "Yeah, he is."
"He's so cute! Anyways, I'll show you to the bracelets."
I try to stop my blushing, and we walk over to some silver and gold bracelets. Johanna goes back behind the counter while I look. "What do you want to get her?" Blake asks, picking up a black bangle set.
"Something with a flame, or ravens. Nothing really cheap though."
I know Blake probably has no idea what to get her, but I'll find something. After a few minute of looking around, I find a gold bracelet, with a fire charm attached to it.
"Did you find something?" Blake asks, walking over to me.
I nod, holding it up. The charm shines in the light, beautiful. We walk over to the counter, where Johanna is talking to a customer. Once they finish talking, she turns to me, "Did you find something you like?"
I nod, "I think this is perfect."
She takes it from my hand, looking at the piece, "This is actually one of my personal favorites. I'll ring it up for you."
She types something into a small computer in front of her, and places the bracelet in a black box. I hand her my credits card, and she swipes it.
"That was 50 credits, is that okay?"
I nod, "That's fine."
She puts the box in a bag, with the receipt, an hands that and my card back.
"Thanks Johanna! It was nice to see you!"
She smiles, "It was nice to see you too! Tell your parents I said hello!"
Blake and I walk out of the store, and I breath in the crisp air. It's so weird, knowing she was once a leader of a faction, but now she is owns a jewelry store. Everything has changed so much, it's insane.
"What's next?" He asks, holding his arm around my shoulder.
"What do you want to do?" I ask, kicking a cup from in front of me.
"I don't know."
"Blake that doesn't help!" I exclaim, still laughing.
He smiles, "I know. How about clothes? I need some new ones, and you can help me."
I nod, "That's fine, I'll get some for myself too."
We walks over to a larger store, on the corner of one of the streets. Blake opens the door for me, and we walk in. There are a lot of teenagers running around, shuffling through the clothes.
Blake brings me to the guys section, and I forgot how different guys clothes look.. Some of these I can't even believe were made!
"How about this? I could get a few." Blake asks, holding up a black, short sleeved flannel.
"That's not awful, but you can't just get ten of the same shirt. You need variety. Not to mention we will have to find matching pants and shoes with all of those." I advice.
His eyes widen, "I didn't realize so much went into dressing yourself!"
I laugh, "I am just good at this stuff, most girls are. Now, go ahead and get one of those, but if you like the style, get a few different colors."
He looks through all of them, and pulls out a black, red, blue and green shirt. I don't know why he likes it so much, but as long as it looks decent, I don't care.
He looks over at some muscle tees, and picks out a few kinds. Then, he goes over to pants. I help him find some denim shorts and regular shorts, and then we head to checkout.
"Did you get enough?" I ask sarcastically, holding up my arms full of clothes.
He rolls his eyes, "You made me get half of this!"
I laugh, "I know."
He sets everything on the counter, and the cashier starts to ring everything up for him.
"That will be 67 credits." The man says, packing the clothes into paper bags.
Blake hands him his card, pays, and we walk out.
"Where did you want to get your clothes?" He asks.
I shrug, "In retrospect I don't really need any new clothes."
"Are you sure? I could pay." He suggests.
I shake my head, "I'm good. We should head back now anyways, the girls are probably torturing my parents."
He laughs, "Sure, the train will be back around soon."
We head back around, exhausted from a short but sweet time together.
