The falling freshman
☆・ ・・・ Chapter Two ・ ・・・☆
Yingyue was late to leave her lecture hall, having been caught in the crowd which was desperate to leave as soon as possible. Business management was some peoples dream, those where the ones who paid attention. But for Yingyue, who was only majoring in Business studies so that she would make her parents proud, it was anything but that. And therefore, she had to force herself through the lecture, putting on the perfect act of pretending to listen whilst secretly shopping on her phone under the desk. But her shopping had her distracted and as she clicked purchase on another bag to add to her collection that had no need to grow any vaster, she had missed the early escape period. Therefore, having to join the en-mass crowd as they left the lecture room, her three boys having left much earlier than she had. Something she felt a little bitter about.
And she was sure she was going to make them regret later on.
Exiting the lecture hall was not the problem, what was the problem was the corridor outside. Yingyue should have known by now, considering the years they had been at this university. That on the first day back her four knights would encourage a massive crowd to spawn, as the hopeless girls looked on in anguish and hoped that just one of them would pay them any attention. Maybe this year would be different, but Yingyue wasn't sure it would be. Rather she just heeded to avoid the pushing of bodies as they made an effort to move towards the four senior boys. Her boys.
Though she should have known someone would get caught up in the crowd. It happened way more than Yingyue liked to admit. That some small girl was often caught up in the bustle of the crowd and would be taken plummeting towards the floor something of which wasn't exactly the most flattering for the girl. And something she knew whomever had tripped her wouldn't even pay attention to. The boys were all very much self absorbed and would most likely not pay any attention to this. Leaving it to Yingyue to at least pretend that they cared what happened to the people caught up in all their fan-girl mobs.
Therefore, when she saw another young woman take to the floor falling down due to the mob-like crowds she had to restrain herself from rolling her eyes. It was so tempting to do so, but once again she plastered on the fake look of someone who was a lot nicer than she was and went to approach the girl. Especially considering the crowd was starting to dispel, as they started to move on from the fallen freshman, she had to be a freshman to be so confused as to why there was a group of students following a boy-band wannabe group around the school. By the time Yingyue had crossed the sea of fans, the young freshman had been helped to her feet by another one of her friends who had taken to standing protectively around her to prevent another tumble.
It was more clear than anything when the group of three looked at Yingyue like she had grown an extra head, they had no account of who the older girl was. She straightened the blazer jacket her fingers running over the buttons to ensure they were also all facing the right way, before making her final approach.
"Hi, are you okay? I'd like to take the opportunity to apologise for my friends, they often seem to forget the impact they have upon the female student body here." Yingyue was polite but sharp in her tone, showing off her nobility, her higher social ranking than what they were experiencing currently. The younger girl her words were directed to only looked more confused at Yingyue's presence, something which wasn't overly unusual, especially for newer students. But it still hurt her ego regardless. Yingyue was drawn to the popularity which surrounded her. Easily drawn to it, and this only proved she needed to do more to ensure she keeps the spotlight shining brightly down upon her.
Yet the longer she stood there, the more they stared at her. Reminding her harshly of the reason as to why she hated doing this fake apology for her friends who couldn't give a shit about what they had done. The more they stared the more she realised how much she hated trying to make conversation with people she didn't know. How she hated the fake polite tone and manner that was expected of her. Rather taking that the silence meant the freshman was okay, turning sharply on her heel a clicking her tongue once. Taking to removing herself from the silence allowing her heels to click upon the hallway as she moved away a sigh and a shake of her head clearly showing her disapproval to the remnants of the student body still left in the corridor.
"Yingyue." The voice of Ximen beckoned her over towards where he stood, waiting patiently for her. Both aware of what she was going to do, but also having no intent to do what she did. As she caught up with him he removed the books of which she had been carrying into his own hand slinging his spare arm gently over her shoulder, pulling her into his side.
"Honestly, can you guys make any less of a scene. You know I hate doing that." Yingyue whined, in a tone she often only used around him. She only allowed herself to break her character fully around him.
"You know the others love the attention." Ximen tried to brush the blame off himself, but she knew otherwise, she knew he had a loyal group of well groupies.
"And you don't?" Her tone was teasing feeling as he squeezed her shoulder in response.
"I have all the attention I need here." The pair chuckled, one being serious with his words and the other completely oblivious that it was not just a little joke between the pair of them. For in her mind, he would never truly mean those words, she would never be enough not with the sheer volume of women he had throwing themselves at his feet. Even if she only desired that he would pick her over and over again.
The pair would then enter the lower level of the library, the space of which the bridge club had taken over. Yingyue threw herself rather violently onto one of the seats, letting out a large huff as she settled. Awaiting the eyes of the rest of the group to turn towards her.
"You guys are going to be the death of me."
