Chapter-6
"You are right." I nodded my head. I am not completely convinced in myself with that reasoning but I don't want to argue with my aunt.
"Is it can be something related with our businesses?" I resumed my eating again.
"May be. But I am not sure. He never felt agitated that much for business. He faced so many difficulties while he was scaling rung after rung on the success ladder. But he never felt uncomfortable. He dealt with all those things with ease. Now he is in a certain position. What would be the necessity to him to worry about anything? Think yourself. Is there anything like that in our businesses at present to make him worry that much?"
I completed my eating and cleaned my hands and mouth with the tissue paper there. I leaned back in the chair again and closed my eyes. I started thinking. I am trying to see if there is anything that much in our businesses that made my dad worried to such an extent.
"What about George?" I opened my eyes and looked into the face of my aunt. "The relationship between dad and that George was not that much good."
"Why are you thinking the relationship between them was not that much good?" with surprise in her voice and face, my aunt asked me.
"That George many a time irritated dad. There were heated arguments between them both on some occasions. On two or three occasions he threatened to leave us and go away."
"But why still he is continuing with us then?" there are frowns on my aunt's forehead.
"Dad did not let him go. Mainly our rivals are just waiting for a chance like that. In his stay for more than fifteen years with us at high level positions, he learnt all the secrets. They immediately took him into their businesses with the highest remuneration possible and try to know our secrets through him."
"Betraying the organization he worked is the last thing he would do I think." With firm voice my aunt said. "I agree that there were differences of opinions between your dad and that George. I agree that many a time they both quarreled and on more than two occasions he threatened to quit. But......." My aunt paused for a moment and is saying "In deep of their hearts they both understood each other. They never could betray each other. It is just because of your father, that George developed that much. He has qualifications of course, but a raw kid by the time of his entering into our organizations. But once he developed, once he learnt, he became a backbone to your father. He helped your businesses on many an occasion. Your father himself said that to me."
I looked into the face of my aunt once again feeling a doubt and even before I express that my aunt said.
"I can understand what you want to ask. I just have said your father not much interested in discussing about the businesses with me. But some matters he used to discuss. He opened his heart many a time about that George."
I have to agree with my aunt's opinion. I am recollecting what I have read in my dad's diary. He wrote impressively about George. Despite the arguments, differences and fights, my dad has good opinion, confidence and trust on that George. But still I cannot think positively about George. Whenever I have remembered the way he talked to me in the morning, I am feeling rage. How dared he talk like that with me? I am the owner of a conglomerate which consists six companies the altogether turnover of which is more than thirty six thousand crores! All our profits are more than three thousand crores per year! Now I am the only one owning all that!
"What you are thinking dear? What is still troubling you?" my aunt asked me.
"Cannot you understand what is still troubling me?" looking into the face my aunt, I am saying. "What that my dad wanted to talk so desperately with me? What is that bloody thing made him agitated that much?"
My aunt is not saying anything at all. She is silent.
"Is there no way at all that we can know about it?" I asked her.
"Have you gone through the diary of your father? He might have made some mention of it somewhere in the diary." My aunt said.
"I already did that. He stopped writing that diary just ten days before his death. Moreover he was not in the habit of writing diary everyday." I hissed out heavily.
"I can deduce something from all of this." my aunt said.
"What that is?" now I am feeling eagerness.
"Whatever might be agitated him that much, whatever might be that he wanted to discuss that much with you, was suddenly came into his knowledge. Just two or three days before his death. Not more than that. Might be in even shorter period than that, I think."
For the second time on the same day, I am feeling impressive with the reasoning of my aunt.
"Reasonable thinking! But what was that bloody thing came into his notice like that?"
***
Today started as usual for me and luckily there are no bizarre experiences to me in the bathroom as yesterday. All my uneasiness and dizzy mood washed away with the sleep in the night. I enjoyed my bath as usual even I have felt fear that I might experience the touch feeling anywhere on my body on this day also. I am feeling jubilant now. I greeted my driver with a smile and he reciprocated with the same. As soon as I slumped in the back seat it pulled off from the place it parked.
I am feeling irritated to meet with George. Even after the reasoning of my aunt also, I am not feeling positively about him. He is the only person on the earth who is imbecile like that with me. How terribly I want to get rid of him! The problem is he has become so valuable and inevitable in our conglomerate.
In fact I did not leave this man without being researched. I have appointed reliable detectives to explore his life. I amazed going through their report. If the detectives I have appointed were not that much reliable, I would not have believed that report at all. I am still feeling amazing thinking about him.
George is an orphan. He has grown up in an asylum. At present he is aged forty four years. After his post-graduation in engineering he did M.B.A. His grades in all over his studies are excellent! He is a bachelor. He has no girl friends. No one has seen him with women at any time. He has no bad habits whatsoever. My dad gave an advertisement nearly sixteen years or so back in the news paper for a competent manager to one of our organizations. This George secured first rank in it. Before long he came into the notice of my dad. Little long after that he proved himself to my dad on many an occasion. In a brief period of time he became the right shoulder to my dad.
After ten years or so of service in our organization he has got wonderful offers from the other organizations. But he never preferred to leave our organization to go into them. Of course, he had threatened my dad on two or three occasions to quit us but he did not do so. What really stopped him I cannot say but he has wonderful opportunities around all the time and even now also.
I know on what points my dad and he got differences of opinions also. He did not like to cling to the old parties all the time. He searched and tried to bring new ones into the organization to supply materials to us. Dad opposed it a lot. But he yielded to his in the end. The point needs for consideration, George idea worked wonderfully! At some point in between George threatened to go out of our conglomerate to make my dad agree to his proposal.
On another occasion George opposed to start producing even more new products. He strongly opposed. He threatened to go out of our conglomerate instantly if that step has been taken like that. This time also my dad has to yield to him only because of his force. My dad irritated to the maximum. The point here also needs for consideration is manufacturing new products which my dad has thought would have been proved a complete failure if we had a start on that. The other organizations who took similar step in the way my father thought faced failure.
The irony is on almost all the occasions, Georges stood proved good. I still remember dad's amazement in George's foresight and thoughtfulness. Dad just could not afford to lose him. But even after this also I cannot feel positively about him. I am just feeling irritation all the time.
I forced myself out of the car. The thought I have to see George is irritating me. I just want to oust him and send him away but the only problem is he may go away without a murmur if I do it like that. I put myself in the chair in my dad's room as usual as I have been doing for the last five months or so after my dad's death. In fact I wanted to change my cabin. I could not feel comfortable to sit in the same chair my dad sat. I felt strongly uncomfortable.
But Viola did not agree to that. "You have to go against your mind. Against your present feelings. You have to say you are not going to yield to them. If you yield yourself to them now they command you on each and every step from now on."
"But I cannot. I saw dad sitting there ruling the world of his business kingdom. What I have done to enter into his shoes? I just born as his daughter and it was just accidental." I felt really very much guilty even at the thought to sit in my dad's chair.
"You did a lot, lot, lot to your dad more than just being his daughter. You have remained a loving daughter to him all the time. You have come with him and learnt the business. You went to America and studied M.B.A. only on his desire. Your dad molded you as per his thoughts, wishes and desires. You deserve hundred percent everything he owned, everything he got."
I did not say anything. I still confused on that day. I am looking at the chair there. That chair is appearing real empty without my dad in it even now also.
"Your father does feel real happy if you sit in that. It's a sure sign to him that you are going to fulfill his wish that you would look after the welfare of the thousands of people through his businesses. Win over your feelings and first sit in the chair and start behaving like an owner to this giant conglomerate."
I did not give much room to think then. I don't know why but on this day also I have been flooded with the same feelings. Why I am feeling like this on this day I cannot understand. Why my heart is becoming more and more heavier suddenly? Until this moment I am happy and jubilant. Suddenly I remembered the words of my dad in my yesterday's dream.
"You never loved me. You have no respect on me."
