{Jeons don't play}
Yoongi was first to trudge down the long ramp leading down into the underground carpark, Jimin following closely behind. They were soon blinded by the darkness as they followed the path down underground, minds focused only on the gentle footsteps that seemed to echo throughout the concrete walls.
Yoongi found his movements stiffening as his senses became robbed by the darkness. Even his own breath seemed to die as soon as it left his mouth, it was an eerie sort of tranquility, so instead of being soothed his senses became heightened. From behind him, Jimin held one hand in front, just incase he managed to accidentally bump into a random object on his way through the dark. He felt like he'd been sucked into a void, only glued to reality by Yoongi's reassuring footsteps.
"Hello!?" Jimin called out, his voice echoing almost endlessly through the carpark, "Namjoon... Daisy!?" he voiced, blinking a few times as he tried to adjust to the darkness.
Yoongi and Jimin had come directly from the rooftops, receiving Namjoon's sudden message for training. Apparently, District Unknown trained at night in the abandoned underground carpark... but Yoongi couldn't seem to fathom why Namjoon would call them all together now all of a sudden?
Jimin parted his lips, drawing in a breath to let out another call, but he paused. Breath falling short as finally their eyes were welcomed with a warm light. Yoongi and Jimin both turned on their feet when one by one the poles of the carpark began lighting up with tiny lights, so mellow and gentle. Strings of lanterns glowed above their heads, causing the pair to gape in awe at the spectacle. It was dazzling to say the least, a cold run-down carpark turned into such a warm place.
The golden light made the scene clear as Yoongi squinted his eyes, watching as four figures emerged from the darkness. Upfront was Namjoon, his long legs in a powerful stride as he walked over to where Yoongi and Jimin stood. The male gave a soft smile, dimples piercing at his cheeks as he did so, "It's funny not having you following me around anymore." Namjoon chuckled, earning a snicker from Yoongi.
"Weird not having to cover your ass anymore." He replied, smugly folding his arms across his chest.
Turning his gaze past Namjoon, Yoongi's eyes had adjusted enough that he was now able to make out the other figures. With a slight skip in her step was Daisy, her curly hair bunched up into a messy bun as stray strands framed her soft face. And approaching from behind her was Jungkook and Taehyung, walking side by side as they met with the group.
Yoongi couldn't help but paint a frown across his face once he noticed that quite a few others were missing, but Namjoon was quick to read his expression, "If you're wondering where the others are... we don't really need them for the night."
Yoongi rose a brow, "Why's that?"
"They're either busy, or not attending the Banquet." He paused as he let out a breath, "For now our main focus is training you lot." Namjoon spoke up, voicing his reason for gathering the group as he gestured towards not only Jimin and Yoongi, but also Taehyung and Daisy. Jungkook on the other hand stood by Namjoon's side, his stance strong as he held himself tall... Jungkook was obviously here for a different reason. Namjoon continued to speak, "All of you, plus Hoseok and Sofia will be the ones to attend the banquet." His eyes turned dark, "This is the Jeons we're up against, so all of you need to be one hundred percent ready for any slip ups."
"Not that there'll be any." Jungkook suddenly voiced, the group falling into a state of surprise at his new tone of voice. He wasn't speaking in his usual light and airy tone, but in a more venomous and authoritative one. His stance was stronger, his usually soft eyes; a well of jet black ink held a gaze more fearsome then a tiger. "I know the Jeons like the back of my hand... and there's no way I'm going to let this plan fall through." he said, "This is our only chance before we're fucked over and we lose. We need to be prepared... very well prepared."
Taehyung couldn't help but swallow thickly at this new side of Jungkook... no, actually... it wasn't new. It was just Jungkook's old self shinning through. The son of a crime syndicate leader... the son of a devil.
Running a hand through his tousled blue locks Taehyung found himself almost intrigued, studying Jungkook's expression closely as if he were some unsolvable puzzle. From the way the corner of his lip twitched as he spoke, to the way his hair fell messily over his lifting brow. Taehyung thought this training session would be a bore, but he couldn't help but let his lip momentarily lift into a smirk as he eyed Jungkook with curiosity.
Namjoon stepped forwards, pulling the group's attention towards him, "As you're all aware, your very lives are at stake during this mission." he spoke, sucking in his cheeks as his eyes momentarily flickered to the roof and back, "I can't hide the fact that I'm worried about our current skill levels..."
Yoongi scoffed, "Seriously!?" He swept a hand in the direction of Jimin, "We literally have a close combat expert, a top notch hacker, a fucking attractive lure, the best god damn sniper, and THE SON of the Jeon boss man with us on this mission." Yoongi rose a brow, "How the hell are you so worried?"
Yoongi lied.
He blatantly lied to Namjoon, feeling hypocritical because deep down he too had to suppress his fears. He hated to admit it, but he felt sick to the stomach about the upcoming mission. He was the one taking down the boss man after all... it all rested on his slender shoulders.
Namjoon pinched the bridge of his nose, "I get it but-"
"Look..." Jungkook cut in, earning a low growl from Yoongi as he disregarded Namjoon's words. "I know you guys are crazy skilled... but only in one area each." He frowned, eyeing the members who stood before him, "The Jeons are different... they're allrounders, and they've got numbers."
Taehyung ran a hand over his neck, "That's true..." he paused, "I can put up a fight, but not on my own."
"I'm a little concerned myself." Jimin confessed, running a hand through his hair, "Until now I've never lost a fight," his eyes flickered up to meet with Jungkook's, "That is until I lost to you." Jimin couldn't help but shudder as he recalled his first encounter with the male, how he was taken down in his own studio, and in the end, three members of Bangtan were needed to restrain him.
"That's why I'm going to prepare you all." Jungkook pushed back his hair in one effortless motion, rolling up the sleeves of his bulky oversized hoodie. Yoongi couldn't help but divert his eyes away from the coverup tattoo on Jungkook's arm, the symbol underneath serving as a painful reminder to Yoongi that he had committed one of the biggest crimes in the Jeon syndicate; to cover up the Jeon family crest.
"Tonight, I'm going to make sure you all know how to use a gun, and the absolute basics of close combat." Jungkook finished.
As the group fell into silence, Yoongi felt his heart almost leap from his chest as he replayed the words in his head, wide eyes shooting over to his leader, "Joon, close combat, really? You know I don't-"
"-Yoongi, I know but..." Namjoon sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, "This is a dangerous mission, it's for your own safety."
Biting back his tongue, Yoongi turned his gaze to the floor, "Fine." He muttered, earning a remorseful glance from Jimin.
Not failing to notice Yoongi's sudden uproar, Jungkook paused for a moment before he continued, "I want to start with close combat, seeing as it'll probably be the most useful in such a confined space." Jungkook moved into the centre of the group whilst everyone formed a wide circle around him. Under the soft glow of the lights, Jungkook's face was shadowed as he rose an arm, calling Jimin over with the flick of a finger. Jimin couldn't help but step forwards proudly, slightly puffing out his chest as he pushed up the sleeves of his hoodie... scratch that, it felt too uncomfortable... so he threw the hoodie over his head instead, casting it to the floor as he stood in nothing but his sweatpants and a flimsy cotton t-shirt.
Jimin stood directly in front of Jungkook, having to look up a little to read the male's expression. "I'm counting this as a re-match." Jimin smirked, watching as a cocky expression landed itself against Jungkook's face.
"Suit yourself." Shrugging, Jungkook took a step back.
Jimin rose his hands, clenching them into tight fists as he took an offensive stance. The rest of the group studied the two men as they wavered between the moment of stand off and fighting, looking each other dead in the eye. No one had moved yet, but anyone could tell that this battle had already begun.
First to push off his feet was Jimin, sprinting forwards at full speed towards Jungkook's defensive form. He ran towards the younger male, watching his every movement as he brought back a fist ready to attack. Jimin watched as Jungkook began to shoot his hand forwards, so using his flexibility Jimin spun under Jungkook's swing, keeping low before he shot up from the floor, almost landing a solid punch to Jungkook's jaw before the younger jumped back. Jimin couldn't help but scoff at the sudden movement, pushing himself off his feet again as he tried to land another hit. This time however, Jungkook changed his stance, moving in at the same time as Jimin. The brunette watched as Jimin brought his fist up once again, but this time Jungkook caught it in his hand, gripping it tightly in his strong hold. Jimin couldn't help but wince, quickly dropping low as he spun a leg around. Loosing balance, Jungkook stumbled back and Jimin almost cheered thinking he had won, but he let his guard slip.
In the blink of an eye, the group collectively gasped as Jungkook reached out, pulling Jimin back up to his feet and almost tearing the man's collar. He heard the slight rasp of material ripping as he brought Jimin off the ground, giving the struggling male a hard stare before shoving him forcefully outside the ring. Yoongi almost toppled over when Jimin came crashing into him, the older having to place his hands firmly against the younger's shoulders to steady him.
The group fell into a silence of complete and utter shock. Park Jimin... Bangtan's best fighter was just taken down by Jeon Jungkook... again. Yoongi simply stood there in denial, hands still on Jimin's shoulders as the orange haired male gaped. Across from them, Daisy appeared almost giddy at the fight's sudden turn around, and beside her, Namjoon wore an impressed grin.
Taehyung almost looked as if he had just suffered a heart attack and then came back to life, "Holy fucking shit!" Taehyung brought his hands to his head, "You just beat Jimin!"
"And I'm sure a few others can too." Jungkook spoke, earning an eye roll from Jimin as he let out a small huff, shrugging Yoongi's hands off of him as he landed himself against the floor, crossing his legs and shoving his hands in his lap. Jungkook turned to face the male, "You may be one of the best, but you're not the best." Jungkook then placed his hands against his hips as he gave a careless shrug, "And I'm probably not either."
"You mean there's people better at fighting then you?" Taehyung gulped as his lips began to waver
Jungkook let out a sigh, "My father and his right hand man are more skilled in close combat then I am." Jungkook then turned his attention back to Jimin, "But hopefully we can try to surpass them, and Jimin-" From the floor, Jimin rose his eyes as Jungkook gave a smile, "You've got my respect. There was no one who could spar with me for more then a few seconds."
Watching from the side, Daisy chuckled, "How do you think you'd go versing Yoongi in a shoot off next~" she sung lowly
A shiver ran up the back of Jungkook's spine, "Nope, Yoongi's the best. I don't even have to see much to know that." He stammered, smiling sheepishly.
Yoongi gave a nod, "I'd be surprised if anyone had a sharper eye then I did."
"Boasting now are we?" Taehyung snickered
Letting out a 'tsk' Yoongi turned his gaze elsewhere.
Settling down after the first fight, Jungkook cleared his throat, "Alright, next I wanna see Taehyung and Yoongi show off their combat skills."
Standing opposite sides of the circle, Yoongi and Taehyung locked eyes. Yoongi's usually bored expression was quick to momentarily falter into something more distressed whilst Taehyung took a step back in reluctance.
Sick and tired of the standing around, Namjoon gave Taehyung's back a light push. Taehyung gave Namjoon a quick glance, "Are you sure it's okay to-"
"-Taehyung." Yoongi spoke up, gaining the male's attention. Yoongi's face softened, a rare sight to see, "You'll know if we need to stop."
Swallowing hard, Taehyung's gaze fell to the floor, "Alright."
A heavy silence settled over them, thicker then the uneasy tension in the atmosphere. Unsettled eyes glanced unceremoniously around and Jungkook and Daisy couldn't help but feel as if something was happening that they weren't aware of. From the centre of the circle, Taehyung shifted uncomfortably... and standing a few metres in front of him, Yoongi dug his nails into the palms of his hands, drawing in a deep breath.
Jungkook's lips fell into a thin line as he looked between the two with curiosity, "Ready?"
They both rose their fists,
"Ready."
Stepping out from the circle, Jungkook paused, drawing in a breath before he spoke, "Begin."
The words rung through Yoongi's ears, and he was first to move. He pushed off his feet, sprinting towards Taehyung's form faster then Jungkook had expected. Yoongi may've been a sniper, but his combat skills certainly weren't lacking. Same went for Taehyung, the boy crossings his arms in front of his face as he blocked Yoongi's first punch.
The older male stumbled back before Taehyung went in with his own move, only to be stopped by Yoongi taking a firm hold of his wrist, using his body weight to spin Taehyung around so they were both now on opposite sides in which they started.
Yoongi let out a breath, taking a moment to regain himself before he moved in again. Only this time... it was different.
Taehyung was on the offence, quickly latching a tight hold against Yoongi's shoulder. The group watched on as he rose his fist in the air, and Yoongi's eyes suddenly shot horrifyingly wide as he watched Taehyung's fist close in.
And suddenly, Yoongi felt as if everything almost fell away.
He wasn't in the carpark anymore. He was a child, at home. Frail and weak. The memories just flooded into his mind like water rushing into a sinking ship. His vision was almost distorted as scenes flickered through his mind, the sounds of screams and waking to breaking glass. Broken nails and bloody tears. Strong hands tightening around his throat and suddenly Yoongi felt himself gasping, like all the air in the world had been used up and he couldn't take in another breath.
The sound of Taehyung calling his name was enough to start to pull him back into the present moment, but there was already a distance in Yoongi's eyes as he took a few steps backwards, bumping into another person's back like he wasn't expecting it. His head fell back into Jimin's chest with the impact, eyes glazed. His voice came out thin and distant, "What, but, no, I didn't, that... wasn't... me..." He was breathing all wrong, heart racing in his chest. Jimin was quick to realise what was happening, spinning the male around and bringing Yoongi's face into the crook of his neck,
"Yoongi... breathe," He began to draw circles on the male's back, "follow the rhythms of my chest." He spoke softly, noticing Yoongi's panic attack right away, even if it was an extremely rare occurrence. Jimin took in a deep breath, waiting as Yoongi copied his actions. And then he breathed out, feeling more at ease as Yoongi began to enter back into reality.
From around them, Taehyung and Namjoon watched on calmly. Daisy and Jungkook on the other hand almost had a fit. This whole time, Jungkook had thought Yoongi was just some stuck up emotionless guy. He never bared a smile or a laugh, never showed fear or hesitation. So why did Yoongi all of a sudden let himself slip?
Jungkook's breathing hitched... it was the fight.
He was quickly able to put two and two together whilst Yoongi finally came back to his senses, composing himself as he pushed away from Jimin. His mouth was almost too dry to speak. So he turned away like an idiot and then croaked out, "I can't... okay!?" He didn't face anyone, not daring to show them a hint of raw emotion,
"I just can't."
