Chapter Four

"M-M-M-Murdoc?! T-T... T-Two... D? Anyone?"

She figured this was enough to constitute as "speaking out of necessity". There was a blinding light blocking all of her vision, she heard beeping in her ears that was much too long and random to be any sort of code... at least, that was what she thought. If it was code, she was in no condition to decipher it. She started trying to piece together any theories she could have.

She knew that Murdoc had attacked her that morning, but... the damage couldn't have been that severe. Cyborg kind of thought that Murdoc didn't really want to hurt her; all he wanted was a punching bag, and she was the nearest person to hit. She was also the most painful person to hit, but still. She didn't think that was a factor Murdoc took into account, he just hated something and wanted to take it out on something else.

And she knew one other thing for sure: she wasn't made to stick around long. She was simply a bodyguard, and a replacement guitarist, until the real one eventually turned up again. That... Noodle. Sometimes, Murdoc or 2D would slip up and call Cyborg by that girl's name, then go back and correct by saying "Cyborg". As if that did anything. She knew her metal was an alternative to flesh and bone, and once the actual human was back, there'd be no need for her.

And she knew what happened to robots that were no longer needed, or who weren't functional at all. They died.

Their bodies were mangled, thrown into the scrap heap, their memory cards wiped or erased. Cyborg felt a whole range of human emotions when she thought about it: sadness, fear, anger...

No. She wasn't a human. She didn't have the flaws she saw in Murdoc, or 2D. She was a robot, made to carry out her orders quickly and efficiently. Which is why she fought to her feet, stumbling through the haze to the lift.
