It was Shang's birthday party, a day which you had been stressing about for months. You had decided a couple of months ago that you'd give him a gift while confessing that you love him.

How would he react? He was a war hero, admired around all China. Mulan was admired even more, but Shang had been part of it and he was recognized too. You had thought for the longest time that Shang had feelings for Mulan, but it turns out that they were just really good friends and Mulan was the one who had tried to encourage you into confessing your feelings to Shang. And now, finally, the time had come.

You carefully approached Shang with your little package, almost feeling Mulan's gaze pushing you forward. You cleared your throat once you reached him, and he turned to look at you with a smile.

"Hello, Y/N." he greeted you, before you handed him the package. "Is that... for me?"

"Yeah... I- I thought that- I should get you something." you squeezed your eyes shut, before forcing yourself to look at him. "Shang, I... I have feelings for you."

You cringed internally about how sudden it must have felt, you had pictured saying in in a garden, surrounded by pretty flowers while birds sang. Instead you were there, in front of the whole town confessing your feelings.

But he just smiled at you, before he grabbed your face and planted a light kiss on your lips.
