Mulan stepped out of the steady stream of hurrying students and examined her schedule.
"Period one, cooking class," she mumbled out loud, then stopped and stared at the words Cooking Class. She didn't remember signing up for that! Maybe it was mandatory.
She pulled out her map of the school and scanned it over until her eyes found a classroom marked "Cooking."
She tucked the map into her book bag and set off in the direction shown on the map, wading back through the sea of people.
She barely got to the class before the bell rang. She plunked down in a seat next to a girl with skin a little darker than Kida's and black hair tied up in a bun.
"Hi, you must be new," the girl smiled. "I never seen you 'round here before. Nice to meet you, my name's Tiana."
"My name's Mulan," Mulan said. "One of the new transfer students. I got here two days ago."
"Oh, you're gonna love this class -" Tiana started, but broke off when the teacher walked in.

Merida made her way through the crowd, looking down at her schedule and bumping into several people she passed.
"Why do I have to take English?" she grumbled, stuffing the paper into her bag and staring around. "I already speak it."
She stopped a passing blonde girl with a braid.
"Do ye know where I can find the English class?" she asked.
"Yes, I'm headed there now," the blonde said. "Follow me."
Merida followed the girl through the thicket of people.
"Me name's Merida," she said as they reached the classroom.
"You seem like a nice person, Merida," the blonde said, a smile settling on her face. "My name's Helga Sinclair. Tell you what, come sit with me."
Merida shrugged and followed Helga to two desks in the back.
