CHAPTER ONE - SECOND GLANCES
( VANCOUVER, CANADA )
AS INSTRUCTED, the sound of a sword drawing out of it's sheath filled Regan O'Connell's ears as another stepped into the circle, getting ready to strike out. This was their fifth take on the scene, and everyone was getting tired but the directors needed everyone to be perfect as this particular moment was very important to her character, Octavia Blake.
Regan felt the world slow around her while the sound of blood pumping through her veins filled her ears, so loudly that she didn't hear the director yell, 'ACTION!'. Regan has almost forgot to swing her sword, and eventually she began to cut down warriors from all sides with such aggression, while dodging other attacks, spinning on her knees as the last warrior fell to her dummy sword. Blood from the hidden packs under their coats has pretty much drenched her facial features and caked into her hair as another body fell along with her dagger.
She was breathless from all the takes tonight, but none the less, she continued with her chant. "You are Wonkru or you are the enemy of Wonkru." She spins around with such fury that the director smiles, her sword out in front of her. "CHOOSE!"
The next round begins, and she doesn't even get to gather her breath before she's slicing, stabbing, and spinning around as they keep coming. Everyone watches Regan as she executes her scene perfectly, she's like a whirling dervish of death, chopping them down one by one, bodies piling up on the floor.
"You are Wonkru! Or you are the enemy of Wonkru! Choose!"
Regan is completely breathless at this point, soaked in blood where it is now a sticky, uncomfortable mess but with the camera in her face, she cannot break character. "You are wonkru, or you are the enemy of wonkru, choose."
As soon as the directer yells, 'CUT!', Regan straightens out her back and smears the blood around to tuck her hair that had fallen onto her face. "We got it this time! Awesome job, Regan." PJ Pesce, who was the director for this scene thanked the crowd for their performance as they all smiled back. Regan walked around the scene to help the 'fallen' crew members off of the floor.
Regan was ecstatic that they had finally finished the last of the bunker scenes, which meant that she no longer had to be covered in artificial blood for most of the day. The stuff looked cool but once it began to crust onto your skin and begun to get sticky — it was rather disgusting.
Regan pulled her hair into a bun as Jason Rothenberg took a photo of her display before Eliza walked towards them with her co-workers following closely behind. She was still dressed in her own costume. "And that is several episodes wrapped up." Regan smiles over at the blonde who smiled back at her.
"Your take was so impressive, Regs" Eliza wanted to hug her, but with the blood sticking on the clothing, she didn't want to get her costume covered. "You really outdid yourself with this one."
Regan caught a towel in mid-air as it was thrown her way by a crew-member before wiping her forehead, cleaning the caked blood off of her complexion. "Thanks, Eliza." she smiled at her, then looked around the room of the people getting the set cleaned up. "Where's Jarod and Sachin?"
Eliza began to walk off the set next to her. "I'm not sure, probably in their trailers going over their lines." She shrugged in response. "Should we go bother them?" Eliza grinned over at her when Regan nodded.
When Jarod opened up his trailer when he heard knocking at the small door, he was surprised to see Regan literally covered in fake blood, and then he laughed. "What happened to you?" he opened the door further before backing away to let the two inside, where Sachin was sitting on the small couch.
"Heavy flow." Regan shrugged her shoulders which made Eliza let out an unladylike snort. "Ooh, that's a good one, that's going to be my next Instagram caption." She grinned over at Jacob who shook his head at her.
"Anyways, I come here in peace with a surprise that I might have left in my own trailer; so be right back." Regan patted her pockets which she should have realized that she wouldn't of had it in her costume but she might as well check just in case.
Eliza, Jarod, and Sachin all looked at each other with curious glances as Regan pointed at them, and then back to her eyes. "Don't move."
"Yes, Blodreina." Jarod bowed his head in a joking matter which made Regan snort on the way out, peeping her head back in the trailer, "Yes, wouldn't want to end up in the fighting pits." she told them before leaving the trailer, and heading down the walkway into her own, costume and all.
The dark brunette had quickly entered her own trailer and started looking for her bag, which was laying on her counter. She fished her phone out and then quickly returned to the group. Regan walked back into Jarod's trailer with her hand behind her back, making the group look at her with interest. "Now, tell me how great I am." Regan smirked over at them as she pulled her phone around her side, "Check your emails."
"This trailer isn't big enough for your growing fat head, Regs." Jarod jabbed her side playfully with his elbow, hitting her in the ribs which made her shove him back with a small giggle escaping her mouth.
All of a sudden, a loud shriek filled the room which made the three jump up in surprise when Eliza dropped her phone and the blonde started to jump up and down towards Regan. "TELL ME YOU ARE KIDDING, REGAN!" Eliza grabs onto her hands, jumping up and down before wrapping her arms around her body, wincing when she remembered that she was still covered in the sticky substance of fake blood.
"You beautiful human — you!" she couldn't even form proper sentences as Regan smiled back at her, looking over at Jacob who picked up her phone, wincing slightly before seeing the undamaged screen, grinning from ear to ear while looking towards Sachin.
"They might not be the front row, but it was all I could manage." Regan pulled away from a grinning Eliza, noticing that she was almost in tears. The poor girl, Regan almost gave her a heart attack from the surprise. She might have not watched wrestling, but she knew the duo was completely obsessed with the sport.
"Are you kidding?!" Eliza walked over towards Jarod, looking down where the seats were located. "I'm hoping Becky will be there. Oh, I just have to dress up as her."
( FEBRUARY 3RD, 2020 — SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH )
When the day came for the small group of wrestling fans to gather their things and pack for the road, Sachin had called Eliza explaining his disappointment that he could not join them. Jason had unexpectedly called him in to work and with a show that has a time crunch to shoot, he couldn't say no. These were the type of sacrifices you had to make for being in the Acting industry, things that you had planned were most likely, going to be canceled in the future for the sake of getting a paycheck.
After a half hour of hearing the news, Eliza had shown up at Regan's hotel with the best sad expression she could manage on her face. Her thin lips were turned into a frown when Regan had opened the door, looking back at Eliza with a backpack on her shoulders. At first, Regan had no want to go to a World Wrestling Entertainment live show, since she absolutely did not know a thing about the sport. Eliza was always good at getting what she wanted though, and the sight of the blonde on her knees in the middle of the hotel hallway, was enough for Regan to sigh out in annoyance and accept the extra ticket.
Now, here she was packing up one of her suitcases with her necessities for going across the Canadian border and into the United States. Eliza had told Regan that they were going to be staying in Utah for a week since Jason was going to be recording the space scenes, and they didn't need Regan and Jacob for those. So honestly, the whole plan b worked out in their favor.
During that whole ride there, Eliza hadn't shut up the whole plane ride and now she was making sure to keep Regan up to date with everything and everything had gotten more real once Eliza, Jacob, and Regan were standing outside of the Arena with their phones, open and ready to scan their tickets at the door. Eliza was dressed up in everything Becky Lynch, and when Regan meant everything, she literally meant; head to toe.
A orange colored wig was on her head which Marie helped to glue down since she applied her own wig on the show. It wasn't the best lace front wig that they could have bought, but with the time limit that they had, the local wig store in Vancouver had to do. Regan had helped to braid the hair, looking at reference pictures of the ginger that Eliza had pulled out from her photo album. Then, Eliza took it further and put on her brand shirt, along with some fishnets and shorts. Regan could not help but snort when Eliza came out of the bathroom, all dressed in her gear because she literally looked so good that if you were standing behind Eliza without seeing her face, you probably would mistake her for the real deal.
"God, I hope she's there tonight or this whole get-up is gone to waste." Eliza whispers as they slowly continue walking as another fan was going through the door. "You should have dressed up too, no one would recognize you." She nodded at the people who were pointing towards the brunette, which Regan turned around to look at them scream quietly at each other when she smiled.
"And who would I dress up as — boo boo the clown?" Regan rolled her eyes as they continued to step forward, and then she gestured towards her own clothing choice of a black leather jacket, a white tank-top and black cut out jeans. "I already look pretty bad-ass, so hopefully I'll fit in."
"Actually, you could have dressed as Doink." Jacob cuts in from behind them with a shit eating grin on his face which made Eliza snort out, but got all giddy when they were next in line before they were allowed to enter the arena. Regan looked into the place which was absolutely huge and most likely you would get trapped inside if you didn't know where you were going. "Tickets ladies?"
Regan smiled as she opened up her phone so they could scan her ticket and Eliza grabbed her hand while they walked inside after going through the metal detector. Jacob was sprinting behind them to catch up with Eliza's excited fast-pace, the championship belt on his shoulder rattling around.
"Should we get snacks?" Regan questions them while Eliza eyes the merchandize table that was quickly forming a line.
"Yeah, you get snacks and I'm going to buy another shirt." Eliza told her and in seconds, she had disappeared completely making Regan roll her eyes and turn to Jacob. "What should we get?" she questioned, which made Jacob look up at the board with interest in his eyes. After, all three of them met up by the doors after Eliza bought another Becky Lynch shirt and Jacob helped to carry the snacks and beer they had bought from the concession stands.
Regan looked towards the young man who looked at their tickets, and pointed them in the direction of their seats, which was on the side of the ring and wasn't far from the barricade which Eliza was happy about. She wasn't able to touch anyone but their seats were good ones, and it was perfect for Becky to see her in her get-up.
Once the show started, Eliza had to explain each rival so that it would make sense to Regan, which got many fans turning their heads towards the trio, giving them dirty looks which made Regan stare back at them until the intensity of her stare made them turn back around. Even though she had never watched the show before, she was intrigued by it. She even had a favorite that came out tonight to perform, surprisingly that was Drew Mcintyre. She liked his trash talking, which made Eliza snort.
Regan smiled as another song started and a woman named Charlotte Flair walked out, which made the brunette elbow the blonde in the side to get her attention. "I wonder how much her robe is."
Jacob cut in from the other side of Regan, leaning in while his eyes were on the blonde walking down the ramp. "More than our paycheck for two episodes." he snickered which made Regan giggle as the woman dressed in a red and gold robe walked into the ring.
All three of them looked with interest as Charlotte was explaining that she had beat every Champion in the company, as one of the biggest pay-per-views called WrestleMania was coming up. Eliza got all excited when the crowd started to cheer, "Rhea! Rhea! Rhea!" and the blonde joined along with the crowd while Regan looked over at her friend with a grin tugging on her lips.
A loud heavy metal song blasted through the arena, cutting off the woman speaking through the microphone which made Jacob and Eliza instantly jump up as they cheered. Regan did not want to feel left out, so she decided to rise out of her seat as well, looking towards the stage as a fit woman walked forwards, a belt around her waist.
Regan's emerald eyes sparkled under the glowing blue lights as the woman walked down to the ring with a confident swagger, which made Regan's mouth part. She could sense her dominance lingering off of the woman, from her seat as she looked over the crowd while stopping her walk beside the steel steps, her eyes taking a moment to scan the loud crowd before continuing in to the ring.
The crowd absolutely popped when —who she assumed was this Rhea— held the microphone in her hand, looking out in the crowd with approval in her eyes as she cheered. The woman was confident in her stride, looking over at the ten time champion. "You know Charlotte, you did win the Women's Royal Rumble—" Rhea emphasized the word win as she spoke with an accent that could make anyone swoon.
Eliza leaned forwards to whisper at Regan, letting the brunette know what the Royal Rumble was which made the brunette nod in understanding, her eyes not once leaving the woman in the ring. "— but you know who you haven't beaten, Me."
The crowd cheered as Rhea unclasped her belt from her waist and held it in front of Charlotte's eyes to get a point across after informing her that she had beaten her before, but Charlotte has never beaten Rhea which made the brunette smile. The blonde didn't answer her and instead walked beside her and out of the ring, which made Rhea follow her frame with her eyes.
She was not interested in many of the female talents that she had seen so far, which really wasn't many but it was something about Rhea's persona — that badass, don't care about anyone attitude was something that Regan found refreshing from all of the other talent she had seen tonight. Her green eyes lit up as Rhea looked over her shoulder at the crowd, and when Rhea's eyes stopped upon her face, Regan felt the wind knock out of her lungs, but then her eyes quickly adverted.
It wasn't like Rhea to find someone out of the crowd that specifically stood out like a sore thumb, but her black hair looked blue against the harsh lighting in the arena, and her eyes were filled with question, her face gleaming from the unknown that she was witnessing. It was compelling for her, and she found herself drawn to the girl in the crowd for this unknown reason.
Of course, Regan shouldn't feel special that the Champion's eyes glanced at her. She probably wasn't even looking at her, but looking at something next to her. But then both of their eyes met once again, though, Regan's eyes never left the woman's frame to begin with and Rhea winked in her direction which made Regan's eyebrows shoot up in response.
That was directed at her, correct? She wasn't just dreaming that because she had been staring at her for far too long. Rhea Ripley's smug smile only grew once Regan hid her face in her black hair as a grin came onto her face and from beside her, Eliza grabbed onto her arm while squealing. "She just winked at you!"
Regan didn't even hear Eliza squeal next to her as her green eyes followed the woman's frame, leaving the ring but her eyes never met hers until she turned around, stealing another glance in her direction to find her staring back at her.
Regan wondered if this was how the fans felt when their favorite superstar looked in their direction, completely in awe as the world slowed around them for just one moment. It was silly because she had no knowledge of who this woman even was, only her given ring name and now to be completely in awe of this woman.
Regan didn't understand it and she probably wouldn't understand what had happened between the two strangers. Regan decided that what ever happened between them, might have only been one sighted, besides, Regan had never seen any of this fighting before and perhaps she was just on an adrenaline high during it. She would never see this woman again once she left the building, so the moment they shared was less than insignificant.
First chapter is always idk, weird. lol But tell me how you think so far, and if I should continue with this story. :)
