I woke up and the ray of sunlight gleamed in my face. I rubbed my eyes, and my head and I groaned in physical pain. I rose from my bed, entering my bathroom and taking a cold shower. I had a fever there is definitely questioning it.

I loved being under the shower though, it relieved a headache. I noticed before I entered the shower my face was turning red and I had a bruise from that "unfriendly inmate".

What would people at school think of me?

I hope they don't know... if they do, I'll kill my friends for exposing me.

But surely they wouldn't do that, right?

In turn off the water and groan when the pain comes back with my head, making its way all over my body, I shivered and noticed Goosebumps forming all over my body. I also sneezed.

I don't think I can go to school today.

I dry my self off and put on my outfit. I'm wearing a hoody and some jeans. I don't want people to notice me, the less they know the better.

I don't make effort with my face as my hoody will be up and nobody will interact with me, apart from my friends.  I make effort in sorting my hair out, I straighten it down. I smile at my attempt and head downstairs, grabbing my bag and a packet of tissues.

My mom isn't home.

When I entered my room last night after her breakdown, I heard her start the car and leave somewhere without telling me.

I feel so bad, I should probably apologize for being a nuisance of a daughter. I should visit Fred and the twins after school today, to just hang around. I mean I loved the twins its only right if I spend quality time with them.

I grab some pills, a bottle of water, my phone and charger, my "packet of tissues" and head out.

Annabelle my new neighbor is seen going into a car with some guys, she notices me and smiles then enters the car. I smile at myself as I was too late to smile. She is a nice person by heart once you get to know her, or if she trusts you. I can't believe she is related to that doofus.

Anyways, I ride my bike to school, the air filling my nostrils as I seek freedom. Nausea washes over me as I notice some people from my school gazing at me. I bite my lip and park my bike in the bikes area.

Then I head inside the interior of our school some teachers wave at me. Mr. Grunge offers a smile in his lame sweater. Yuck!

Mrs. Graine, his lover smiles too they both head down in triumph. What's their deal today?

I notice my besties by the lockers and head towards them. "Guys!" I shout, they welcome me with hugs and kisses.

"So how you doing, girl?" Megan asks.

I nod, taking my hoodie off from my head. "Good enough."

I decide not to tell hem about my mom's breakout with me. Too much is too bad!

I notice Avery and her goons smirking at us. She approaches me soon after. I face her with a teasing smile. "What's going on Avery?"

She hits my arm with a "playful punch" Nah did I say playful, the girl literally pounded all her weight into mine. I bite a glare back and keep smiling playfully.

"I heard you got arrested. Is it true?" Her words leave me fooled. Who told her?!

I look at my friends who casually shrug and walk away behind me not getting involved.

"It's so funny, who would've thought Anita here is a bad girl?" She says it out loud in so much humor for everyone to laugh. "I'm going to send this on our school gossips site. See ya later, Ms pathetic!" She laughs and walks off with Rachel and Sara in tow.

I hold back my tears and hit my locker hard.  I notice Adrian was there and he chases me, into a dark alley in our school. Cliché much why don't they fix that flickering light.

"Aurella, what happened how did they know-" I cut him off.

"I don't know please stop! I've had enough Adrian." I say, the tears finally find their way and our pour out.

I look away ashamed.

He pulls me, raising my chin and smiling pitifully. "Your not worth neglect, pain, and torture. You deserve so much more. This isn't right." He clicks his tongue dissatisfied, his presence empowers me, he shows total dominance in which I can only stay obedient too.

"I'm sorry~," I say staring into his dark eyes. "Adrian I am worthless and utterly useless. Chase was right. It's my fault Evelynn went in that car she didn't have to die if I didn't agree to her foolish acts and then watch her die in cold blood, which splattered all over me." I say, mumbling my words, too my surprise he understands as his eyebrows furrow and he frowns, at me.

"Who the fuck cares! You didn't have the power back then, but you can now~! You're not worth the pain you deserve more. I know how it feels to lose someone..." His eyes begin to wander away.

"Annabelle," I mention.

"Yeah, as you probably heard. My parents died because of me because I didn't care about them, I was too oblivious and horrible to them. They died in a car accident and when I found out I abandoned Annabelle and started a life on my own. What I've learned in life... never neglect the ones who care for you and always be grateful for what you have." He smiles, and his eyes leave me hanging.

I feel a tight knot form/

"How about you? What's your story? I know your real name by the way." He smirks. I hit him in the arm and him yelps. "Hey!"

"Way to kill the mood Devil-Face!" I chuckle and he does too. His breath fanning against my face leaves me speechless. Beyond relief. I'm thankful for him being in my presence for welcoming me with open arms and accepting me for who I am.

"My real name is Lizbeth, and I have a fake identity because my father is out there and he is dangerous he was-" I begin crying and I collapse into his arms. I sniffle under his touch and he strokes my hair and caress my arms and back with care.

I thank him and sit along the corridors, with him following behind sitting beside me. Smiling, encouraging me to go on.

"He was a total jerk, he sued us and pitied us, saying 'You're pathetic I don't know why I ever loved you.' To my mother I felt so sorry for her, I tried to help her but he'd resort to hitting me." I sniffle.

"At first this domestic abuse advanced incredibly, it got out of control, it turned to sharp objects flying at you, or metal poles hitting you. it was beyond a nightmare." I say, controlling my breathing which is getting out of hand.

"He was a real bastard let me tell you that. He would hurt me and my mother non-stop until we decided to report him and he got locked up for 10 years and we moved to this town with fake identity... it helped me too as Evelyn's death was burdening me and it made me get depressed until I thought of suicide." I say, calmly.

He holds my hand and soothes circles on my palm which helps a lot. I smile at his smile.

"That's the story. I heard he got released lately so I hope he doesn't come to find us." I say, glancing down the corridor.

He caresses my lip with his thumb, tugging at it and smiling. "Its ok, you have me, he'll never hurt you mark my words. Your safe with me now."

"And how about everyone knowing I was arrested what if this social media thing will make him see and he'll come and-"

"Audie!!" He screams. I yelp in surprise. "What!" I yell back. He smirks. "Mark my words he won't, I can promise you that."

We head back to class, I feel his gaze on me all the time, it's nice that he's here. After class finishes without the supposed laughter's echoing around me I head out. Adrian catches up with me and holds his arm wrapped around me, I embrace his warmth in delight.

"Thanks," I say, blushing.

"You're cute." He replies. I blush more.

Chase said that... but he's gone now. At least I don't have to worry about him anymore.

Unless he rises from the dead and haunts me.... Nah he's gone.

"Hey there!" My friend's chirp, they notice the movement between Adrian and I and pretend to disengage and move along, but they are totally checking us out.

"I SHIP!" Megan shouts loud. 

People look around in confusion and that leads Avery to  then notices what's going on, she decides to head towards us, "hey can you get your hands off my man, Murderer!" She says loud, everyone stops and stares at us laughing at me.

Adrian drops his guard and looks at Avery with a glare. "Leave her alone Avery your reign of terror has lasted long enough!"

I hear someone say, murderer, the guy gets knocked down by Tara. Who looks beyond furious. Adrian looks at Avery with curiosity, until he frowns and clenches his jaw. "Avery we never had anything between us. We never did and never will!" He says, pulling me towards him, and everyone lays their eyes on us feeble as it is.

He claims me possessively, I barely have time to think. I just blush and move along with him.

He's very tall, and I only go up to his shoulders. It's quite awkward. "hey Adrian." I say, he looks at me with sweet eyes. "yeah mi cherry." He smiles blissfully.

I blush as a cherry as funny as it seems. "Do you-" Were cut off by the bell and students swishing past like the wind, pushing us about. Adrian has a firm grip on my waist and doesn't let go until were the only beings left. Just gazing at each other.

"What is it?" His voice is husky. "Do you--" Big mistake you could regret it. 

"Nah forget it," I say, twiddling my thumbs.

"You sure?" he asks, his eyes melting in mine as he smiles.

"I'm sure."

We hold hands and walk to his car, my second time in his car, its a dream car. How could he have this much money to afford it.

"Adrian?"

"Yeah," He stops his eyes scanning me.

I feel uncomfortable but then I smile. "Thanks for everything."

"Everything?" he looks puzzled.

"Yeah everything, thanks for being there for me when I needed you the most," I say, approaching him closer and closer. 

Since its now winter the sun is setting already, the orange sun radiates bright colors as it says its farewell. "I can finally be myself with you," I say.

He tucks a strand of hair behind my ear, his mouth starts to open. "Your always welcome, anything for you."

We head into his car and drive, with the sun setting before our eyes, it's all passionate and graceful. With him, it seems I can be myself seeing as he knows who I am.

"How did you know?"

"Hmm..." He glances at me confused. 

"I mean how do you know my real name?" I ask, bewildered by how someone can break through my shell of defense.

"I have my ways." He begins, he lights a cigarette and faces me with a firm smile. "Its ok though, don't worry. No one else knows." 

Something isn't right? But I let it go.

We zoomed own the road, his car going really fast, but I don't think he minds I guess he's used to these sorts of stuff. Adrian gives me a glance, his eyes on me makes me feel quite fuzzy. I mean just a month ago I was that casual bystander but now... I'm friends with a popular!

How awesome can I get??

I look at the missed calls, from my mother.

I let it go. 

"Who is it?" He asks, looking at me.

"My mom, I guess she wants to talk. But we shouldn't go to my house she's in a bit of a wreck."

"What kind of wreck?" He asks, interested in my not so perfect life.

"We had a fight as apparently 'I'm the one who caused Fred to break up with her' Why is she so childish... I know me being in Jail made Fred driven away but I couldn't help it, we had a tough past and I hate it when she pins it all on me." I explain sharply.

Adrian gives me an honest smile. "You did your best and she can't blame you for that. You're strong even I couldn't go through all that." I chuckle at his comment.

"Yeah, but do you mind if we go to Fred's house? I have to deal with this situation. Is it alright with you?" I raise a brow, he nods. "Anything for you."
