6: Confusion

**Y/n POV**

I couldn't even remember the last time I had been alone for a night. It meant everything to me.

I definitely cried myself to sleep, still wearing Nanami's jacket as I cuddled up under the blankets. To finally let myself feel, it was freeing.

And even though my eyes and heart were heavy, I thought maybe I could find a way to start healing and push forward. Letting all my emotions out, it gave my hope.

I sighed softly, closing my eyes as someone knocked gently on the door. I wasn't ready to get up, but it looked like I didn't have much a choice.

I forced myself out of bed, slumping over to the door. "Yea?" I barely cracked it open at all.

Yuuji was standing there, perky and bright-eyed as he held a stack of clothes, "Good morning! Brought you some clothes!"

I nodded as I reached out to grab everything.

"Not sure what'll fit you, so there's stuff from all 3 of us for you to try out."

"Ok."

He shyly scratched the back of his neck, "I can wait for you if you want to go to breakfast. You hungry?"

I couldn't really bring myself to talk much so I just nodded along to his questions.

"Cool! I'll wait right out here!"

I shut the door and walked over to place the clothes on the bed. There was a pair of sweats from either Yuuji or Megumi that were baggy, but worked better than any of Nobara's bottoms.

She was a lot smaller than me for sure. I did end up wearing one of her tops. It was fitted and a little short, but it would work.

I met Yuuji outside the room after getting dressed and somewhat ready for the day, Nanami's jacket in my hand so I could return it.

"Ready?!" he beamed, and I nodded as I followed him.

"Here, let me hold this!" he took Nanami's jacket.

It was only quiet for about a second or so. The guy could definitely talk. It didn't matter if I responded or not, he was more than willing to fill the silence on his own.

I didn't mind. I wasn't feeling up to talking much anyway.

"So, uh, you sleep well?" he nervously glanced down at me.

"Fine," I nodded.

He stopped suddenly, a look of uncertainty on his face. I followed his lead and turned to look at him, "What?"

"I just wanna say sorry. You know, for last night," his eyes were locked onto the ground as he shoved his hands in his pockets, fidgeting a bit.

I just watched him closely, not really wanting to talk about the previous night. I could tell he had more to say though.

"And," he let out a sigh.

Called it.

"You should know we're about to meet up with everyone, to talk about stuff. I just don't want you to be caught off guard."

He really was one of the good ones...

"Yuuji," I called out his name as I took a step closer.

"Y-yea?" he stuttered a bit as he looked at me again, probably a little shocked that I acknowledged him.

"You're a nice guy. Thanks for sticking up for me so much yesterday."

"Of course, Y/n!" he beamed.

He reached out to hug me but I quickly put my hand up to stop him, "Don't touch me."

He laughed as he scratched the back of his neck, "You don't like people very much do you?"

"No," I shook my head. "I hate most of them."

"Ahh well I hope we can be friends!" he smiled.

I ignored him and looked back towards the double doors we were so close to entering into, "So do you know what they want to talk about?"

His loud sigh was a little concerning, "Honestly they haven't told us much. But Y/n, they somehow already know who you are..."

"Of course they do," I muttered.

Fucking Toji. I knew he'd sell me out. The Zenin clan should've known too.

It had been almost a year, so I thought he kept it to himself. Wishful thinking I guess.

On the other hand, him selling me out got me away from Naoya. Maybe I owe him a thank you.

I wonder what he got in return for that kind of information. Probably a fortune.

"I know this probably doesn't mean much," he spoke up again. "But you can trust me. Nobara and Megumi too. We'll have your back. No matter what."

It was easy for him to say that now because he doesn't actually know anything yet.

The truth was, I never had allies for very long. And this wouldn't be any different.

"Let's just get this over with," I began to walk away, pushing my way through the doors as Yuuji trailed behind.

**Megumi POV**

We all turned to look as Y/n walked into the dining hall, Yuuji a few paces behind her as he carried Nanami's jacket.

Seeing her in the light was a little overwhelming. Her scars were clearly visible now. They covered almost every inch of her exposed skin.

Except for her face. It was left completely untouched, and her features were unlike anything I had ever seen. She was enchanting, and I once again couldn't get myself to stop staring.

"Good morning beautiful," Gojo cooed. "Hungry?"

Nanami let out a sigh, "Already?"

"Cut the shit," she snarled as she approached Nanami, Geto, and Gojo. "What's the real reason you came for me?"

"Oh?" Gojo chuckled as he lifted a brow. "So you know, do you?"

"What the fuck did Toji tell you?"

There it was again... My dad being brought into this.

Gojo stood up, walking slowly over to her, "That Naoya had a delicious treat waiting for me. And damn was he right."

"Funny. He told me you were jealous of Naoya and always trying to prove you're better than him. I guess he was right about that too."

He grabbed onto her chin, "Maybe I should take you to my room right now, prove to you that I am better."

I watched with wide eyes as her gold chain shot out, quickly wrapping around Gojo's neck a couple times.

How?...

She spoke in a low voice, "You better watch your back six eyes. Looks like you just found your weakness."

Gojo was seething as Y/n let go of her grip and Geto pushed between the two, "Alright settle down. Let's focus on why we're here, Gojo."

"Please, enlighten me. Why are we here?" she asked.

"I don't need my infinity to stop you, Y/n," Gojo took off his blindfold as he snapped again. "Remember that."

Y/n's entire presence softened as her eyes landed on Gojo's, her mouth dropping open just slightly. It's like she was entranced by him, but I had no idea what made her switch up so quickly.

I know she hadn't seen him without his blindfold yet, but was it really just his eyes?

"What's your fucking prob—" Gojo stopped mid-sentence as Y/n walked over and immediately put her hand against his cheek, stroking it softly.

She was barely shaking her head, and it almost looked like she was going to start crying.

Gojo, who was so tense before, relaxed underneath her gaze and her touch, his eyes flickering across her face, waiting for her to say something.

We all were.

What just happened?

This moment, it felt so intimate, like we were intruding on something sacred. And no one was prepared to break the silence settling in around us.

As if she finally realized what she was doing, she quickly retreated her hands from his face, looking down almost bashfully.

"I need to speak with you alone," was all she said before turning and walking towards the exit, avoiding all of our eyes.

"Wha—" Geto went to speak but Gojo just shook his head, gesturing him not to say anything, and quickly followed Y/n out.

We all stood there stunned as they both disappeared.

"Does anyone know what the fuck that was about?" Nobara asked.

Nanami sighed, rubbing his face like he always did while Geto's face scrunched up in confusion.

"Who cares if this means they'll start getting along," Yuuji mumbled as he left to go get food.

I knew it was stupid, but a jealous anger began to bubble up inside of me. He had been treating her like shit, but that look she was giving him...

I would do anything to have her look at me that way. For her to touch me as softly and intimately as she did when she held his face.

Gojo didn't deserve an ounce of kindness from her.

Not to mention I still had no idea who she was or what the hell was going on...

I thought we rescued her because of the way the Zenin's had her locked up like a dog, but it was painfully obvious that wasn't it at all.

They had been planning to get her into our care and must have just used that as an excuse or a distraction.

The opportunity to get her presented itself, so Gojo took it. And now, I was dying to know why. Aching to put together the missing pieces.

"Should we go see what that's about?" Geto asked Nanami.

Nanami just shook his head, "No. She can handle herself."

He was right. I knew he was. She can handle herself. Still, the thought of those two alone...

I didn't like it.
