Why?
Melody panted as her sister loaded her gun. "We barely got away," Melody said grinning at her older sister. "Yeah." Nightshade replied. Melody was a petite girl with long red hair that faded to blue at the tip tied up in a ponytail, She wore a white tank-top and blue jeans with a jacket tied around her waist, and combat boots. Nightshade was taller than her sister with pale skin, white messy hair also tied up in a ponytail, And had black eyes with white pinpricks (Due to being a skeleton human hybrid...don't ask). She wore a black tank-top, black pants, and knee high boots. "Think you can use your magic next time?" she asked looking over at Melody who nodded in response. "Shielding or weapons?" she asked. "Teleportation." Nightshade said. "Your teleportation can get us far enough away from this part of the city where the infected are." she said. Melody nodded in understanding as Nightshade passed a bow to her as Melody shrugged the quiver full of arrows over her shoulder when a sudden growl from right next to them got their attention . "SH-" Nightshade started pushing Melody out of the way as a large rabbit monster bit Nightshade's hand. Nightshade kicked the monster away cursing like a sailor as Melody shot it in the eye. The rabbit suddenly let out a shriek and ran off..."Nightshade are you okay?!" Melody asked.
Nightshade was silent as she stared at her hand, as her blood slowly turned purple...the color of her magic. "Melody I want you to shoot me..." she said. Melody's eyes widened. "N-No..." she said. Nightshade handed her gun to Melody. "This disease kills humans and turns monsters into savages...I don't want to know what it does to hybrids." Melody shook her head, "Y-You'll be fine. I know you will." she said. Nightshade suddenly looked at her fingers which the nails were starting to grow longer like claws. "Melody shoot me. I don't want to be like them." Melody with shaking hands took the gun while Nightshade winced from the pain. Clearly anyone already with magic in their blood when infected will turn like them and both Melody and Nightshade know this now. With shaking hands Melody took the gun and backed up. "Promise me something..." Nightshade said. "What?" Melody asked as she aimed the gun at Nightshade's head. "Survive and end this disaster..." Nightshade closed her eyes ready to accept her fate. There was silence before Melody responded. "I-I promise..." At that she pulled the trigger.
Days passed as the memories played over and over in her head. She was hidden in an abandoned apartment building with a sleeping bag and what few supplies she had left. Her head was buried in her hands as her weapons were spread out around her. Her eyes had dark circles beneath them showing her lack of sleep. Her hands were wrapped in bandages which were bloodied from who knows what and her hair was a mess. She removed her hands as she heard something in the next room. A loud thud shook the apartment but she didn't move. She didn't even flinch...she was used to it by now. She stared at the door in silence before something started banging on it. Her eyes widened now, What the hell? she reached for her weapons as she kept her eye on the door. She quickly pulled out her bow and arrows before standing up and aiming it at the door...aim for the eyes and the creature will run away. That's what she learned. The banging got worst as a large eyeless creature busted into the room... Her eyes widened as she realized something...HOW THE LIVING FUCK IS SHE SUPPOSED TO SCARE THIS THING OFF NOW!
The creature stared in her direction before sniffing. It's ugly lips curled up in a disturbing smile before it pounced at her. Melody was quick to dodge causing it to fly into the wall leaving it in a daze. She grabbed her bag of supplies and booked it out of the room slamming the door shut while she was at it...
The monster let out a loud roar as if trying to get other monster's attention as it attempted to escape while Melody was running down the stairs. Her combat boots making loud noises as she raced down the stairs her bow clutched in her hand, quiver and bag over her shoulder. She finally made it to the lobby and quickly ran outside. She was quick to get to her car which was a dodge truck, threw her supplies into the back and jumped into the drivers seat and hot wired it almost burning her hands again and than started it just as the eyeless monster jumped out the window and landed on the hood. Melody held out a hand as the monster was about to break her window to get to her before the monster was surrounded with a red aura than was thrown off the truck. She slammed her foot on the gas and drove off.
She stopped an hour after driving away from...whatever that was and rested her head on the steering wheel...God she was so tired. She refused to fall asleep however since one, this wasn't a safe place and 2, Every time she closes her eyes she can only think about her sister...and how Melody was the one who pulled the trigger...She shook that thought off and got out of the truck and grabbed her bag slinging it over her shoulder as she looked around. She was outside the city which meant less monsters...maybe there was a cabin nearby somewhere. She rubbed her eyes when the sound of branches cracking caused her to freeze in her tracks expecting something to be trying to kill her...or at least bite her. And her being born with magic only saw part of what happened to hybrids...God knows what this would do to mages. She clutched her bow and arrow and looked around wildly as more cracking sounds caught her attention...God she was too tired for this shit. Speaking of which her fatigue was finally catching up to her. Her vision began to blur as she stumbled back towards the truck cab. The last thing she saw before she collapsed was a giant skeletal figure with glowing bluish yellow eyes ...
