I know this topic might make some people puke. Trust me, I know how it feels. I'm single too. But whether you want to have a significant other or not, it's important to realize what we want in our future too.

I am a hopeless romantic but I understand that there are people who choose to be asexual. With that said, I'm looking forward to your answers and what you honestly think.

This chapter will be separated for those who are single and those who are dating someone. If you are dating someone, you can skip the single section and vice-versa.

1 ▪︎ What is your definition of love?

My definition of love is not constant. I never really tried to give love meaning. It's hard for me to put it into words but I know it when I feel it. Not only just sexual love but familial love and friendship.

2 ▪︎ Have you ever had a crush on someone?

I have. Throughout my 18 years of life, I have had 5 in different periods of my life but I've never had a boyfriend ever and I currently don't have a crush at the moment.

3 ▪︎ Would you like to be single all your life?

As much as it sounds tempting, I'm a hopeless romantic and I hate to be alone all my life. I don't want to rush into a relationship though, that's a different story though.

4 ▪︎ What are the advantages and disadvantages of being single?

For me, the advantage is that I can do whatever I want, whenever. I don't have to change my lifestyle. For the disadvantages, in my personal opinion, it gets kind of lonely and sad when you're hanging around people who have their significant others and I'm the only one who doesn't.

5 ▪︎ In your country, do single people of opposite sex ever live together as roommates, not as boyfriend or girlfriend?

I have never seen it first hand but considering my country's culture, boys and girls get seperated a lot. In school trips, boys aren't allowed to sleep with the girls. It's mostly because we have a high rate of teenage pregnancy in our country. But it's not illegal, I have heard of straight boys and straight girls living together and they're not in a relationship.

6 ▪︎ Do you know any single parents? How did they become single parents?

I don't know any single parents but I do know step parents. At least 5 of my classmates have step parents.

7 ▪︎ Describe the personality and the appearance of the person you would like to date.

In all honesty, I don't really care what they look like. I always wanted someone who would just like me as me. Since I was a child, I have never really had any boy come up to me and tell me they like me which honestly makes me insecure about my looks and personality. I'm more mature now and just having a confident, fun, loving man be my boyfriend is enough for me.

8 ▪︎ Do you believe in love at first sight?

I do, funny enough. I do believe it can happen. Just not me.

9 ▪︎ If you have dated before and is now single, how many people have you dated?

0, nada, zilch, non existent

10 ▪︎ Do you like to flirt? If so, what do you usually do? Where? With whom? Why?

No, I'm too self conscious to even approach my crushes. I'm just such a conscious person that I don't like to embarrass myself.

1 ▪︎ If you could go out with anyone, who would it be?

You might hate me, but i never had celebrity crushes. I'm just not the type to obsess over someone real and imaging them as my partner. I just find it weird. I would have to choose one of my older crushes, the one that I still think about from time to time.

2 ▪︎ Do you think single people like being single?

I'm not sure. There are some who do like priests and nuns since they are devoted to God. For me though, i don't like being single because I don't like to feel alone. I want someone to be with me as I grow old.

3 ▪︎ Do you think it's easier for a man or a woman to be single?

I am not being sexist, but men definitely have it easier to be single. Not because of social standards or anything but because if there is ever a chance that a man will impregnate a woman, he doesn't really have any big issues besides the relationship, money, and family maybe. While the woman has to worry about all these 3 things plus the pregnancy, the breastfeeding and everything. Women are more emotional and we are very sensitive, not being in a relationship can really affect us. Of course, I'm not saying that it applies to everyone. This is just how I think.

4 ▪︎ How do you think single people feel on Valentine's day?

Valentines was just last month and honestly, it wasn't that bad. I'm more of a family person so I was at least able to greet my family and gave them letters. I do feel bad for single people who is constantly surrounded by people in relationships. Valentines must be a nightmare for them.

5 ▪︎ Do you have any single aunts or uncles? If you do, can you describe their lifestyle?

I don't. All my uncles and aunts are happily married and no one has died yet so that's good.

6 ▪︎ Even though you're single, describe what would be your perfect date.

Honestly, playing games or doing extreme sports is good enough for me. I like to have fun when I'm on a date, if my partner can't have fun with me, then it's not worth it.

7 ▪︎ Have you ever been on a blind date? Did you ever arrange a blind date?

No, too young for that. Also, blind dates are not a common thing in my country.

8 ▪︎ Would you prefer to go out with a quiet or a talkative person?

I like quiet people more because that is when I can be myself more. I am a quiet person myself so I feel like we would understand each other and not talk over each other. Quiet people are great listeners and I would rather have someone who can understand me than someone who is friendly with everybody.

9 ▪︎ At what age do you think that dating should begin?

I honestly don't care as long as it's legal and consensual. You can start when you are 15 as long as it's not taken very seriously and you can start at 30 as long as it's not with someone who is not of age.

10 ▪︎ Do you think there is any age when a person is too old to date?

No, love has no set timing. It can come early or late and I think a mature relationship is better than puppy love.

11 ▪︎ Are there any superstitions on making someone fall in love with you?

Yeah, like love potions and hypnotizing. But I don't believe in them. It's also such a stupid way to find love. It's not love if they don't love you back. That becomes obsession.

12 ▪︎ Do you like to have boyfriend or girlfriend in your school or in your classes?

I'm about to go into college and i think you don't really need  a relationship when you're in high school. I would like to have one when I'm in college though.

13 ▪︎ Do you know anybody who does internet dating?

Not in my social circle but I have seen YouTubers do internet dating.

14 ▪︎ Have you heard of any successful relationships through internet dating? Would you consider trying it yourself?

I have like Jess and Gabriel from YouTube. I personally don't like to do internet dating because I don't trust dating apps. I'm fine with meeting people over the internet, it's just better to be safe than sorry.

1 ▪︎ Why do you think some people remain or prefer to be single?

I think it's less stressful for them. Some people just don't like commitment and that's understandable.

2 ▪︎ Is it better to be single or married? Why?

It depends on how old are you but sometimes being married is better because again, I don't want to live a lonely life. It would also be nice to have someone reassure and guide me as I go through life.

3 ▪︎ Do you think that single people are happier?

I don't know if they are happier. It depends on why they are single. If they choose to be single, then maybe they are happier. I don't think I'm happier if I'm single all throughout my life. I'm a person who likes to express love with a lot and if I don't have someone who i can express it to, it makes me sadder.

4 ▪︎ Do you think that it is fair that in some countries married people get tax benefits and single people don't?

I think it's fair because single people only have to care about their birth family and themselves while married people have to care about each other, their children and their birth families.

5 ▪︎ Do you think that there is a soulmate somewhere for everyone?

I want to believe so. No one deserves to feel unloved. I consider soulmate as more than a lover. Soulmates can apply for friends too and I do believe that there is someone out there for everyone.

6 ▪︎ Do you think fairy tales influence our choice of partner?

Not necessarily fairy tales but in our generation, the media definitely influences the choice of partners because of unrealistic expectations. Like, beauty standards, men having to be overly romantic and protective, women having to be really innocent, really sexy, or really tomboyish.

7 ▪︎ Have you ever hated loving someone?

No, everything happens for a reason. Even though I don't really necessarily love my crushes, I did admire them and I don't regret it because they are inspirational people. I also don't really hate anybody that badly.

8 ▪︎ Is there such a thing as a perfect relationship for you?

Maybe not perfect but I do believe in the ideal relationship. People who can understand each other and love each other conditionally even after experiencing trials and conflicts together is my ideal relationship. It might take time, but I want that kind of love.

9 ▪︎ If you are a man, and a woman asks you for a date, do you feel you should pay, or that the woman should pay?

I don't know why pop culture makes this such a big issue. Why can't people just split the bill? Unless one of them is really unfortunate, I don't see the problem with splitting. You both experienced the date, you both ate food, you both agreed to go there, why is only one person allowed to pay? I don't like it if men will offer to pay because I just feel bad for them.

10 ▪︎ Would you wait on a person you were dating for a long time if they joined the army? How about if they went to prison?

If they are truly worth waiting for, I would wait for them and I would wait faithfully. As for prison, it depends on the reason why he's there, but if it's something like vandalizing, I would still wait for them. 

11 ▪︎ What do you think about dating a friend's ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend?

If the friend is okay with it, there is no harm done. I mean, their relationship is over, why should it really matter? Love can come to anyone, you shouldn't restrict yourself just because that person is your friend's ex. If they are really your friend, they would respect your decision. If you cheated beforehand though, that's a no for me.

12 ▪︎ Do you think that age difference is important when dating?

Unless you are a minor, it doesn't matter for me. Love is love.

13 ▪︎ Would you date someone much older or younger than you? Why or why not?

I prefer older just because I like mature people. I don't care if they are younger as well as long as they are mature. I just like the feeling of someone protecting me or someone sensible to hold a deep and serious conversation with.

14 ▪︎ Would your parents have a problem if you married someone much older or younger than you? Would it make a difference if that person were rich?

My parents like rich people, I will be honest. I think as long as the person doesn't have a criminal record and they respect my parents, my parents won't care that much. But my relatives are another story, they like to judge every aspect of my life. 

15 ▪︎ What is an intimate relationship for you?

I think an intimate relationship for me is unconditional love between two people. That's it really.

16 ▪︎ Do you have any expectations for your partner?

I just expect them to like me for who I am. I am an insecure person so having someone with a big ego will be hard to handle but I am open to any kind of relationship. I am straight though, I love girls but as friends. I don't see myself having a romantic relationship with a girl.
