▪︎ 01 ▪︎ Names
Welcome to the first chapter of Discovering Yourself!
This is very different from the books I usually post here in Wattpad. I wanted to make this book because I have met very interesting people in Wattpad and am really interested in other people's thoughts and opinions. I always thought people would find it hard to relate to me as I'm not quirky or funny, or have a remotely interesting personality. This can also assure me and you that maybe we aren't alone in this world and that we have each other.
Before anything else, please read this before proceeding to future chapters.

Let's get started!!!
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
So let's start simple! A name is a common word. Names are always talked about and also questioned about a lot. So even if we are starting simple, we are also starting deep. Let me know about your opinions on names.
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
1 ▪︎ What is your name? You can keep your real name private. You may answer your pen name/pseudonym or your nickname.
Hello, my real name is Aldynnah Martin. My nickname is Nadine or Nadz. On Wattpad, I go by Roze Fayers and I prefer to be called Roze here in Wattpad.
2 ▪︎ Why were you named that way? Or why did you choose to name yourself that way?
My real name came from the girl version of my father's name, Alden. If I was a boy, I would be named after my mother. Roze Fayers was a pen name that I randomly generated and I just liked how it looked, nothing really special about it.
3 ▪︎ What is your username here in Wattpad? Why did you choose that name?
My username in Wattpad is ComfortableShows. I chose that name because I usually like to show off my works comfortably. I want my works to give a sense of comfort. It was also an ideal name for a YouTube channel.
4 ▪︎ If you had a child, what would you name them?
I never really thought about children names. I always wanted to consult to my partner about children names before insisting on them. I want to choose my children's names carefully since they might hate me for it for the rest of their lives. 😂
5 ▪︎ What's the most beautiful girl name you've heard?
I really like the name Seychelle. She's a classmate of mine by the way and she was named after the island. I forgot the spelling. I just liked how the name rolls off my tongue.
6 ▪︎ What's the best boy name you heard?
The name Kier Jacob, a schoolmate of mine. The name is just so unique, I'm honestly jealous with some boy names. I'm pretty sure there are more but this one is the most memorable one for me.
7 ▪︎ What are some of the most common names for boys and girls in your country?
In the Philippines, I can safely say, the names Maria, Sofia, John, Daniel, Danielle, Alexander/Alexandra are some of the names I find very common.
8 ▪︎ What are some really unusual names you've heard?
I literally know someone named Champagne. I also know people named Blueberry, Cherry, Clydisdelle, Christraylle, and Donjie.
9 ▪︎ Are there any names you absolutely hate? If so, what are they and why do you hate them?
I don't have any specific names that I hate. I just hate the trend of naming your child after objects that already exist in real life. Like, just choose a name that means the word, you don't have to be so literal.
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
1 ▪︎ If you could rename yourself, what would you name yourself?
I actually like my real name but I do wish my name was simply Nadine Martin. It's easier to say and it's easier to spell.
2 ▪︎ Does your name have a meaning? If so, what does it mean?
My name Aldynnah is really unique so I don't think there is a meaning. My second name, Kristia is another way of saying Christ. That's what my parents told me since I am in a Christian family.
3 ▪︎ When you introduce yourself in your culture, does the last name come first or the first name?
In my culture, we say the first name first. However, nicknames are mostly preferred and last names are usually used for those who have too long or too difficult to pronounce first names.
4 ▪︎ What do you think of people who name their children after months, seasons or days of the week?
I honestly don't mind them. They can sometimes be meaningful like they represent the day you were born or the season you were born in. It can also be a representation of your parent's anniversary or something like that. As long as it has special meaning, I honestly don't mind.
5. Some parents give their children names in alphabetical order. Do you think this is a good idea?
I honestly think it's fun. You don't necessarily have to start with A. I mean, I share the same initials with my sister so I don't find it weird.
6. Have you ever dated two different people with the same first name?
First of all, awkward 😳. As of the time I am writing this, I haven't dated yet. I'm still single since birth. But if I have to think about crushes, then no. I just find it weird.
7. Do you know the names of some famous race horses? If so, please name a few.
I don't know any. The reason I ask this question is because I generally am curious.
8. Do you have names in two different languages? (ex. a Chinese name and an English name) If not, would you like to?
No, Philippine names are already in English as it is. Our nicknames can be quite unusual. I am genuniely curious what my Chinese, Korean, Japanese name would be like. I always like the names from those countries.
9 ▪︎ In your country, do women change their name after marriage or do they keep their maiden name?
In my country, women generally change their last name after marriage. Their maiden names are usually used after marriage if their divorced or if their husband died.
10 ▪︎ Can your name mean anything funny in your language?
Nope.
11 ▪︎ Have you ever known a boy that has a "girl's name" or a boy that had a "girl's name"?
I mostly know people with gender neutral names. Like Daniel and Alex. However, I do have guy classmates named Ariel and Ellie.
12 ▪︎ Is it common in your country to name a person after a person in the Bible?
Yup, the Philippines is mostly compromised of Roman Catholic Christians so it's common to be name after the angels, Mark, Matthew, Luke and John. I had classmates named Jonah, Noah and Jhudea.
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
1 ▪︎ Do you think names shape our personality? To what degree?
I never really thought about it, but my name is named after my father and although I look more like my mom, I have heard people tell me my personality reminds me of my father. I am literally my father's daughter and I possess the same traits and likes as him. I think it can be coincidence, but I do believe my name does shape my personality.
2 ▪︎ Do you remember any kids whose names other kids in school made fun of? Why? What were their names?
It's usually the nicknames they make fun of. In my case though, they usually first pronounce my name as "I'll die na" instead of "Al-dee-na". I do get teased for having my last name as Martin since it's usually a first name. They would tease my name with names like Martin Garrix, Ricky Martin or Coco Martin.
3 ▪︎ Do you think there is really a need for names in our world?
I do believe names are imprtant. It makes it easier for us to distinguish things, animals and people. However, it does cause some problems but they aren't as severe.
4 ▪︎ How do you think names were created in the first place?
Names were probably decided as human life progressed. I mean, I always wondered how people come up with these names. Latin is the main source of most names today. The Greek also contributed to some popular terms. I'm not really sure, I didn't really research my answer, this is just stock knowledge and opinion that I faintly recalled from my Philosophy class.
