Chapter 28
CHAPTER 28: KIDNAPPED BY THE WHITE HAWK
Victoria's POV
When I woke up my head throbbed and when I wanted to touch my head, I felt my hands restrained by bindings. I struggled to open my eyes. But when I finally could I did not recognize the place I was at.
I looked around and found that I was in a factory like building, the windows were high up. There was only one door that was infront of me.
I was tied to a chair. My legs were bind to the chair's legs and my arms were also bound. I heard people speaking outside. And I perked up at the sound.
The doors suddenly burst open and in stepped the man I've been looking for the past few days. His white mask with the beak said exactly who he was and you could see he was someone who held authority.
He closed the door behind him. He looked at me and gave me a sinister smile.
"Well, well, well look who we got here." He says and immediately recognize his voice. No it can't be.
"Uncle Caleb?" I say.
He takes of his mask and I'm face to face with chief inspector Caleb.
"Hello my dear." He says.
"You're the White Hawk? But how could you do this? Why are you doing this?" I ask bewildered.
"Oh it's a real sad story my dear, but if you insist." He says as he pulls up a chair and comes to sit infront of me.
"Once upon a time, I was the good guy, the guy who all criminals feared. But that all changed one day. I'm a gambling addict and one day I owed a guy over $400000. My wife, the one thing that kept me grounded in my life was no longer here to do just that. So I started to steal, I got this white mask to cover my face and then I saw how easy it was. I guess I got greedy because I didn't want to give all my hard deserved money to the guy I owed, so I killed him. And in doing so the gang accepted me as their new leader because I brought them money and guns.
Everything in life was going perfect, until Mike started to piece things together. I followed him one day, I didn't see Alec was with him, into the bank. The hostage situation was a cover up for his death. And since that day I knew I had to be very careful and so I started the gambling site and got people to work for me. And that's my sad story." He says with a smile.
"You can still stop this, please." I beg.
"No, you're the only one who knows my true identity and so my secret will die with you. But don't worry we have time before I kill you because the Shadow must first be here before I kill you, I want him to feel the pain I felt when I heard about his betrayal!" He says loudly.
"Please, I won't tell anyone, just let me go and leave the Shadow out of this."
"Wait, do you care for the Shadow? Oh my goodness you do, and I bet he cares for you too, ah looks like it's going to be a tragic story." He says as he laughs and walks out the door.
Please Shadow come and get me, I silently beg.

The Shadow's POV
It's already past 8 Friday morning and we're all still here in the Wills' house. Captain Wills called a few detectives and other police officers and we were all crowded in the living room.
The captain told them that I'm not a fugitive until Victoria is found and even though he told them I'm trustworthy, they still look at me with disdain.
Captain Wills is upstairs trying to calm his wife. She came home at twelve and when she saw all the police cars she knew something was up. When the captain told her that Victoria was taken, she broke down and he took her upstairs to lay down.
I on the other hand was trying to see if I can track the listening device's signal, but I had no luck. I was beyond anxious to find Victoria, where ever I looked I saw her face. Her face was a constant reminder that this was my fault, her kidnapping was my fault.
"Any luck Shadow?" Detective Morrison asks as he takes a seat next to me.
"Nothing, the signal bounces the whole time, there is no way to track from where it's from." I say as slump down in the couch.
"You really want to find her." He says as he looks at me.
"More than anything in the world, this is all my fault if I hadn't asked her to help me she would've never been taken."
"Hey don't blame yourself for this, the what ifs never help Shadow. We can't change what happened all we can do is try our very best to get her back."
"But how? there is no way to find her." I say as I put my hands in my hair.
The other police guys also brought their gear in case the White Hawk called for ransom.
"Don't worry we'll find her, we just have to be patient." Detective Shaw says as he joins us on the couch.
"I know you don't trust me, but believe me I'm not the bad guy in this." I say as I look from Morrison to Shaw.
"We are police Shadow we are trained to not trust thieves." He says with a smile.
"I know." I say with a ghost of a smile tracing my lips. All these people in this room want to arrest me but they won't because they know Victoria trusts me so they should probably too.
We hear a big ruckus and the captain Wills comes flying down the stairs at the speed of light. He signals the guys to track his cellphone call before rushing to me.
"It is for you." He says and he hands me his cellphone.
I switch it over on loudspeaker so that the detectives can hear to.
"Hello?" I say.
"Ah if it isn't my favorite man in the whole world. Shadow so nice to hear your voice again." The White Hawk says and I can hear his voice is different, he must have gotten smart.
"Cut the crap White Hawk, where is she?"
"Oh your darling Victoria? She's okay for now Shadow, but she won't be for much longer unless you do exactly as I say."
"What do you need?" I ask.
"Ah I finally found the lone wolf's weakness, how charming." He says with a laugh.
"Cut it, tell me what you need so that I can get her back and be done with you."
"Ah patience is a virtue my dear Shadow. The first thing I need is that money you've stolen from me."
"What money?"
"You had a bank to rob, I still want that money Shadow. I don't know how you're going to rob it with so much policemen standing there to stop you, but you have an hour to rob the bank and to bring to the lake. And I won't be there so don't bother bringing the police along." He spits.
"Fine, I'll rob the bank and bring you the money." I say. I look at the guy searching for the signal but they find nothing.
"Looking forward to it." He says before he hangs up.
"What now?" Detective Morrison asks.
"Did you guys hear the background sound?" I ask, there was a background sound when the White Hawk talked.
"I think if we can determine what makes that sound we can find Victoria." I say.
"Yeah, you're right. He only problem is we don't have a recording of the phone call." Greg the IT technician says.
I pull the bug I planted in the captain's phone out and hand it to him.
"Where did you get this?" He asks as he stares in wonder at the small recording device.
"I placed it there." I say.
"You bugged my phone?!" Captain Wills screams.
"Sir it was only a heads up to see where you were on my case. So Greg can you use it to determine the background sounds?" I ask.
"Yeah I can, but it's going to take a while." He says.
"Okay then I'll see you guys later." I say as I stand up.
"Where are you going?" They ask.
"To rob a bank, I want this guy just as badly as you but you all heard him, he will kill her in an hour if I don't bring him what he wants."
They all stare at me astonished.
"The amount in the bank is ten million, I have that money in my safe, I can put a tracker on the money and maybe it will lead us to Victoria." I say.
"Where did you get that kind of money?" Detective Shaw asks.
"Lets just say I've been saving for a raining day." I say before I walk out the door to my bike.
I drive to my lair to get a tracking device. Before I take a bag and go fetch the money that is stacked in my safe. Don't ask me how I have this much money, but there are plenty more from where that came from and this wouldn't even leave a dent on my account. I don't mind giving all this money away, as long as Victoria was safe and I could have her back in my arms.
I stack the money in the bag and throw the tracking device in the bag as well. I quickly throw the bag in my car's trunk and rush to the lake.
I know he won't kill me yet, he still needs me to get things for him and he knows as long as he has Victoria I'm his puppet.
After I dropped the bag of at the lake I went back to my lair to switch my car for my bike before heading back to the house. The police cars were still there and I felt threatened having so many guys waiting to take me down.
When I enter the house they all stare at me for a second before continuing with what they were doing. My mask is still on and my eye contacts are out meaning my eyes are the blue they are and not the brown colour. My voice changing device is still on as well.
I take a seat infront of my laptop and look for the location of the tracker.
Detective Morrison and Shaw come to sit next to me to check how I'm progressing.
"So you mind telling us where you got that money?" Morrison asks.
"If it would help you sleep at night, it was left for me, it's my inheritance." I say as I stare at my screen watching the trackers movement.
"You just gave away 10 million dollars of your inheritance." Morrison says bewildered.
"Yeah, he would've known if it was fake. Guys can you put up a fake news report saying that the bank has been robbed?" I ask the detectives.
"I don't know, let me see what I can do." He says as he stands up and rapidly starts to type on his phone.
"Greg how is the sound coming along?" I ask.
"Shadow, I've identified a few sounds but there are millions of locations who have the same background sounds." He says.
"Then keep searching for a sound only connected to one location." I say as I keep an eye on the bag of money.
Then the tracker starts to move and I know he picked up the money. Detective Shaw's eyes are also fixed on the tracker.
"Do you think he will take the money back to the place he is keeping Victoria?" He asks.
"I don't know but I hope so."
We were both staring at the tracking device when all of the sudden the device was disconnected.
"Darn it." I say loud.
"He found it, didn't he?" Shaw asks.
"Yes." I say disappointed.
"Shadow you might want to come look over here." Greg says as he calls me closer.
I walk over and stare at his monitor. There is a map of the city and fifteen different locations is highlighted.
"These are all the locations that have the same background type of sound. I called the owners but only seven factories didn't pick up." He says as the seven factories are highlighted.
"So you think that it is one of those seven." I say.
"Yes, you see the background sounds I identified was water, machines and glass. Here is a group of factories near the river but only four of them work with water and glass." He says and I stare at the four factories that are near the background sounds we identified when I was talking to the White Hawk.
"Captain, I think we got something." I say as we call him over. Greg explains how we figured it out and I told him this was our only hope.
The captain agrees and calls the rest of the police officers to come closer.
"We have four possible locations, and we're not sure if she is at anyone of them but this is the only lead we got, so we are going to split in four groups and check all of these locations. Lets do this people."
"Shadow you're with me, let's go find my daughter."
And then we were off to go check every possible place we can find.
Let's just hope we find her before it's too late.
