Taisla

Third Person

Rebel was dressed up in all black clothing, appropriate for a school dance he was forced to go to. He was waiting in the car for Frankie to start heading to the school. Frankie came out in her colorful dress, showcasing her toned legs making Rebel's breathing hitch. She opened the car door, sitting herself and buckling her seatbelt.

"Let's go," she said.

Frankie's eyes gazed outside to the murky depths, tined pink and orange from the setting sun. She opened the window, embracing the breeze on her cheeks. The blue-gray sky, now slowly fading to soft pastel as the sun started dipping below the horizon. The sky was able to distract Frankie during the entire ride. Rebel was parking the car, both in complete silence. After the conversation they had before, Frankie didn't have anything else to say.

They start making their way towards the beige concrete building. It was brighter today, filled with teenagers running to the entrance. The entrance was covered with rainbow-colored balloons, lighting, and a gigantic sign. Her eyes watched over the groups of friends, taking pictures and living their best lives. Rebel latched onto her arm, holding her from walking away.

"Frankie we can find another way," Rebel pleaded, looking into her soulful brown eyes.

"This is the only way!" she exclaimed, fixing her circled designed belt.

Rebel rushed his fingers through his gelled locks. "I can't just... I can't just let you get yourself killed," he licked his lips nervously.

"Just because Katherine gave you a warning," She assured, grabbing a hold of his sweaty hand. "Doesn't mean I'm going to die."

One of his brows raised. "Are you saying it's 50/50 shot?" He pulled in her closer, holding her hand close to his chest. Her breath hitched, afraid to look up into the boy's eyes, they haven't been this close since the kiss. "Look, I'm sorry, I can't go through with it, I have to tell Imogen."

He started walking away but Frankie stopped him in his tracks. "No! If you care about me at all, you will promise to not say anything," she pleaded. She needed to do this, she needed to be able to save her best friend.

"Franks," he sighed, playing with his button on his shirt. "I can't-."
"Please, promise me," she begged, staring into his glistening brown eyes under the decoration lights. "I can't explain but I can feel it. I know I can do it...I feel empowered."

"Fine," he gritted his teeth. He pulled her into a hug, holding her tight against his chest, Frankie could hear his heart beating. Frankie could stay like this forever, she loved being his arms but it would be better if he wanted her the same way. They felt someone else joining in the hug, confused Rebel looked up to see Drew's foolish grin.

"Drew let go," Rebel said, releasing Frankie from his grip. "I'm going to go inside now," Rebel left them alone, going inside to take care of teenagers.

"How long have you been there?" Frankie asked, slowly walking towards the entrance and being attacked by the other students who were throwing balloons.

He smirked, fixing his button-up shirt."So is the 50/50 situation true?" Frankie stopped in her tracks, feeling her heart drop down.

"He was worried, I just wanted to keep him quiet," she explained, hoping Drew isn't planning to do the same thing Rebel was. She couldn't quite read his expression, his eyes weren't fixed on her but on the girls walking by.

"So you willing to lay it out all on the line for Imogen, No matter what," he questioned, connecting his hand to hers and twirling her towards him.

"No matter what," she replied, he placed his arm on her waist, swaying to the music that was booming from the inside. "You can't tell her."

"Fine, your secret is safe with me," he smiled as she moved her hips in a circular motion.

----

They entered the dimly lit gym, overly decorated with different decorations showcasing the decades. A shimmer of glitter danced from the ceiling, illuminated by the disco ball. The music began to slow down, turning into a soft sultry sound. The dance floor was filled with teenagers dancing to soft music. Most of the couples were on the floor during this time, gliding to the music. Imogen dragged Lucas into the dance floor, he always hated dancing but if it could a smile to her face. He would do it.

He moved his left foot backward in a smooth motion, sliding across the slick floor. She slid her right foot forward, chasing his retreating feet with hers, like a fox on a hunt. Dipping forward and looking into her eyes, his fingers tightened on her waist as his left foot came forward again, surprising her foot and chasing it back.

His turquoise eyes glistened, and a smile spread across his beautiful face, making Imogen's cheeks burn pink.

Uncontrollable feelings surged through her body, and her fingers tingled in delight. His hand brushed across her cheek. Her body was acting on its own, no chains to hold her back from this pure paradise. He drew her close to his chest and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Imogen began to withdraw her hand to brush away her hair, but his hand clutched onto hers.

"When did you learn to be so romantic," Imogen teased him, trying to soothe the butterflies running around in her stomach. His hand sliding down her skin caused her hairs on the back of her neck to rise.

"Probably from all the movies we've watched," he laughed, placing a kiss on her cheek. The slow song ended, turning into a more upbeat song. The dance floor started getting heated, everyone joined since the couple's song was done with. Frankie was on the sidelines, watching all teenagers dancing their little hearts out. She found Drew dancing in between two girls, having the time of his life but she could see his gaze always landed on Imogen.

Imogen's eyes fixed on Rebel who was sliding through the clusters of teenagers on the dance floor. She tried calling out his name, he looked up at her but decided to go the opposite way. He couldn't bear being around her, knowing he's hiding a secret from her. Imogen knew something's up, he hasn't acknowledged her since the morning but why?

"What's wrong?" Lucas asked, fondling with her cheek, lifting her face so her eyes can meet his.

Imogen sighed, feeling a pit in her stomach. Something wasn't right but she couldn't put her finger on it. "Rebel, he's been ignoring me. I think he's hiding something," Imogen explained, leaning towards his ear. Imogen's eyes followed Rebel's frame that was exiting the room.

Lucas's noticed Imogen staring elsewhere, leading for him to follow her gaze studying Rebel. "I'll go check on him," he smiled, rubbing her shoulder softly. She nodded, reaching over to pour some punch in her cup. Lucas pushed his way past the collection of students, trying to catch up to Rebel. Finally, he reached the door, pulling it open and seeing his faint figure.

"Rebel!" he shouted, his legs walked faster, trying to reach the older boy. Rebel stopped in his tracks, turning around to meet him halfway. "Where are you going? Imogen wants everyone to stay together," Lucas explained. He was trying to read Rebel's face, he kept ignoring his eye contact, just fidgeting with his feet.

"I was just going to the bathroom. You know, escape all the loud music," he let out a chuckle, hoping to fool him. Lucas didn't buy it one bit and he knew it. "Ugh, it-it's Frankie," he sighed, continuing to look down at his feet.

Lucas furrowed his brows. "What's wrong?" Lucas's felt his palms become sweaty, the anxiety pumping through his body. Rebel still ignored his gaze so Lucas said. "If you have something on your mind, just spit it out."

"If Frankie uses all her power on Taisla, channeling all that magic will kill her," he sighed, swallowing the lump that has been stuck in his throat.

"What?"

"She doesn't want Imogen to know, because if Imogen knows she will try to stop her," he exhaled, sliding his fingers frustratingly through his hair. "And then that means Imogen could die so... what am I suppose to do?" He practically begged Lucas for any advice, in a perfect world he could save both of them.

-----

Frankie noticed Lucas and Rebel entering the party, Lucas rushed towards Imogen and whispered something in her ears. Imogen's eyes searched for Frankie and when they made eye contact. Frank's heart sank. Imogen marched forward as Frankie waited, drinking her punch.

"I need to talk to you," Imogen seized her hand, dragging her outside to the hallways before she could deny. Lucas paraded the dance floor, trying to find Drew who was too busy having girls grinding on him. It wasn't too hard to find him since he was being the center of attention.

He tugged on Drew's arm. "Did you know Frankie was on a suicide mission?"

Drew groaned, rolled his eyes, "Oh, great, Rebel told you and I'm assuming you told Imogen." Drew slouched his shoulders, feeling his party mood deteriorate.

"Of course I told her! You promised her no more secrets!" He exclaimed, hitting his chest with his finger.

"Well, I changed my mind," he argued.

----

Imogen dragged her to a private area in the hallway, where no-one would interrupt. "How could you not tell me?" Imogen fumed, her back facing her.

"Because I know how you could react," Frankie explained.

Imogen turned on her heel. "No, no," she shooked her head repeatedly. "Its not an option!" she argued, her temper was bubbling just under the surface.

"Imi, it's our only option!" Frankie confessed, grinding her teeth.

Imi desperately pleaded. "We will find another way, okay." She clutched her hands, bringing them towards her heart. "Frankie, I'm not allowing you to die just so you can save me," she protested.

"I have the power to save you! If I sit here, doing nothing and you get hurt! That would kill me even more," she croaked, her eyes becoming glossy.

"No, I won't let you," Imogen said, shaking her head.

"Answer this one question--," Frankie stared into her eyes, holding back her emotions. "If the situation was reversed--would you do it for me?" Frankie's question shut her right up, having her stand there with no words. Imi's eyes fluttered while she tried to speak but she was true; she would do it for her.

"So you understand why I have to," Frankie said.

Imogen exhaled. "No...No!" Imogen pulled her into a hug, releasing the tears that were threatening to escape her eyes. Frankie wrapped her arms around her, proceeding to cry onto her shoulder. The dilemma broke both their hearts, having to risk their lives just to save the other.

"Hey, guys!" Frankie's eye gazed meeting her hazel colored eyes, she pulled away from Imogen's embrace.

Kylie was smiling ear to ear, twirling around in her purple pantsuit. "I have been looking all over for you," her genuine smile turned into a sinister smirk.

The aura in the dark hallway turned from emotional to threatening, Imogen held onto Frankie's hand to comfort her irregular breaths. Kylie started laughing mischievously. "I'm so glad to be away from all that loud music. I always hated the decades dance."

Imi's eyes gazed into Frankie's concerned ones, her mind swirling through endless thoughts. "Kylie? Are you okay?"

Kylie's sinister laugh echoed throughout the hallway. "Now, why are you asking me that?" An evil smirk on her face as she kept walking closer and closer to them.

Frankie placed herself in front of Imogen, ready to unleash her wrath if it came to it. Frankie could feel her eyes starting to change and she was fighting to keep control. "What's going on?" Frankie said.

Kylie rolled her eyes and exhaled. "Fine, I'll give you a clue..." she trailed off and started twirling around the hall. "I'm not Kylie," she whispered. Imogen noticed her hazel eyes change to purple shade.

Imogen furrowed her arched eyebrows, watching Kylie raised her's. Finally, after several moments of silence, Imogen's connected the pieces together in her mind. "Taisla?" Imogen inhaled sharply behind Frankie, the anxiety bubbling in her stomach.

She stopped in her tracks, her eyes fluttering. "Surprise, happy you guys finally used your brain."

"Oh no, how is it possible? How are you, Kylie?" Imogen asked.

"Calm down Imogen. I'm not here to hurt you," Taisla's eyes shifted to Frankie's, "But you are," she smirked, marching forward attempting to attack Frankie.

Frankie let the rage rush in, feeling the magic flow through her veins. The rage slowly consuming her but Frankie was contending it from using her. This time she was going to be the one using it. She recited the ancient words, swinging her arms towards Taisla; causing her to swoop off the ground and smashing into the lockers.

Taisla groaned, rubbing the nape of her neck. She struggled to hoist herself up with her limbs but continued to have a smirk on her face.  "Did I mention that I also have a witch working for me," Taisla said. Frankie scrunched her eyebrows. "You're going to have to hit a lot harder than that," Taisla added.

Frankie gathered up her pent up rage, sending it all towards her from her fingertips. Frankie swooped Taisla, pushing her all the way down the hallway into the glass case. The pressure from the magic and her body, caused all the glass to shatter landing on the floor along with her frame. All the trophies in case, spill onto her and striking her body. Taisla fiercely groaned which rapidly changed into an evil laugh. "Keep going. If you kill this body, I could just get another. Maybe Rebel next."

Frankie forced herself to take deep breaths knowing it was the only to keep the rage from taking control over her. Ultimately, Taisla had full control of Frankie's magic but she was fighting it. Frankie bit her lip, noticing her vision becoming sane again when she clutched onto Imogen's arm. "Run...Run!" Frankie said, pushing Imogen forward to the double doors.

Imogen foot slipped but she landed on the door handle, thrusting it open. Imogen continued traveling down the hall, stopping to make sure Frankie was behind her. Frankie used the magic lingering on her fingertips to slam the doors shut. She bumped into Imogen but both turned around when huskily voice speaks. "What happened?"

"Taisla has taken over K-y-ylie's body," Imogen exhaled, trying to catch her breaths.

Drew furrowed his brows, shouting, "What?"

"I think she's possessing it or something," Frankie injected, her eyes shifting between Drew's and the door.

Drew stared into Imi's chestnut-colored eyes. "Go find Lucas, Now!" Drew's eyes were bulging from their sockets. Imogen immediately nodded, catching a glimpse of Frankie before dashing out of the corner. Drew waited till Imogen was out of earshot and said, "Can you kill her?"

Frankie frantically explained, "She had a witch put a spell on her, to help her."

"Don't you have more power than normal witches? Break it!" he gritted his teeth.

Frankie stared into his emerald gems, feeling the fear struck her. "I'm trying but if I kill Kylie, she will just take over someone else. She knows how strong I am Drew," she grabbed his hand, "She's trying to kill me."

Drew shooked his head. "No," staring deeply into her worried cinnamon eyes. "No, we aren't letting Taisla win tonight. Are you still willing to do whatever it takes to kill her?"

The rage was breaking through but Frankie had it on a latch still her eyes were slowly turning cherry red. Frankie nodded at his questioning, knowing deep down she was doing the right thing.

---

Taisla was waiting in a classroom, her feet propped up on the desk. She was playing around with all the objects on the desk, pencils, papers, staples, and more. Her eyes wandered towards the classroom door when she started hearing the clicking of footsteps. Finally, she's arrived, Taisla thought she was ready to have be able to amuse herself.

Her footsteps stopped when she reached the door, Frankie's hand on her hip and ready to confront her. Taisla gazed up, the signature smirk plastered on her lips, "Well, took you long enough," she scoffed, checking out her nails. "Anyways do you want to go the easy route or the hard one."

Frankie proceeded to enter the classroom, walking just close enough to the black desk. Taisla had an arrogant grin on her lips while her fingertips were twirling a pencil around. A smile crept on Frankie's face as she broke the latch inside of her and let the rage consume her. She unleashed her wrath starting by crushing the bones in her hand, causing Taisla to release the pencil on the floor.

She groaned, trying to fix the bones she just broke. "The hard way then. Fine," she sighed, lifting herself from the comfortable chair. Frankie's eyes have completely changed dark red, the rage has fully been unleashed in her veins. She chanted the ancient words like they were naturally known to her.

Taisla's felt her whole body, ripping her apart, limb from limb. "Wow, I'm almost impressed," she laughed, feeling the magic repair her broken bones. "Are you sure you want to kill poor old Kylie?" Taisla asked, trying to fix her dislocated shoulder.

"Kylie wouldn't want someone like you using her body. Don't worry I'll make sure you suffer first," Frankie smirked, wetness escaping her nose. She rushed her hands up to her nose, cleaning up the blood that was pouring out

Taisla laughed. "That's all you got?" Taisla already knew Frankie's body is dying, the blood just proved it.

"Let's find out shall we," Frankie replied, letting the rage swell in her veins and into the atmosphere. The ancient chant left her mouth as she pointed towards her leg causing them to fracture. Hearing her groaning brought happiness to Frankie's ear. All the magic was causing the lighting in the room to flicker on and off.

Frankie's words lead to all the items in the room react, sweeping up in the air and aiming them towards her. The blood was escaping her nose rapidly now, her temper in full-blown speed. Frankie's skin was glowing crimson red indicating the magic was absorbing her. Taisla lifted herself up, looking around at all the objects.

Frankie yelled out, gathering the wrath she could and pointed towards her. Taisla's ribs were being torn apart along with all the objects piercing her skin. She released a loud sob, taking in all pain. Frankie's eyes shifted off from her to the footsteps coming behind her. Her eyes connected with Imogen's who was dashing to the door.

Frankie used the magic lingering on fingertips, closing the door before Imogen and Lucas could enter. Imogen clenched her fists, banging on the door with all her might. Lucas tried to use his super strength but the magic kept the door airtight.

Frankie released another scream, gathered up all the rage she had left, all the ancient words leaving her lips once more. Her magic caused Taisla's bones to repeatedly cracking. The magic caused the light bulbs to burst down all around, lightening up the room. The blood was dripping down to her neck now, she could taste all of it in her mouth but she won't be stopped.

Frankie turned her head around, gazing into Imogen's worried eyes. Imogen's heart-shattering at the site of the blood dripping out her nose. Frankie's eyes softened, turning back to their natural shade at the sight of Imogen. Her lips curled into a sorrow smile, letting a sole tear escaped her eyes.

Taisla picked herself up, enjoying the sight of the bursting lights around them. She glanced into Frankie's eyes, watching the blood continuing to drip off her. Frankie felt the magic escaping her veins and the bright light appearing before her. Suddenly, Frankie's bones fractured releasing her from the pain she was feeling and falling dead to the ground.

"No!! Frankie!" Imogen cried, eyes widened, her mouth trembling. The lights disappeared along with Frankie's soul, just her drained body is left. The doors abruptly opened, Imogen dashed in with Lucas following behind her.

Imogen grabbed her arm, pulling her head onto her lap. "Frankie, Franks! Hey, Hey!" she kept shaking her, praying she would magically wake up. "Help me, Lucas, she's not breathing! I can't find her pulse!" Imogen inspected her neck, searching for any signal of life. Lucas was checking her wrist but there was nothing. He searched around the room but it was only them left.

"Lucas do something, please do something," Imogen pleaded, tears burn through her eyes, creating a huge pool on the ground. She felt her chest constricted not being able to breathe correctly.

Tears emerged from Lucas's eyes, stunned not knowing what to think. How the hell did Drew let this happen after promising he wouldn't? "It's too late, I'm sorry," he croaked, gazing up at Imogen's tear strained face.

Imogen repeatedly shooked her head, "No, No, No, No." How could this have happened she thoughts? She covered her mouth with her hand, the sobbing had the same force of someone drowning. "No, No, please, Frankie please!" she continued pleaded. The flesh under Imi's ribcage throbbed, her cheeks burned, and her mind reliving the memories they shared together which made the tears continue.

"Lucas get Imogen out of her," Drew entered his eye wide shot at the sight of her body. Imogen continued her chants of No, No, ignoring Drew. "I'll deal with her body," Drew bluntly said.

Imogen's eyes were teared from Frankie's body up to Drew's eyes, staring at him with horror and disgust. "What do you mean deal with it?" She bickered, the tears nonstop flowing down.

"We can't let any other student or worse teacher find her. The last thing we need is a mysterious death," He answered, walking towards the body.

"This is Frankie!" Imogen cried out, feeling her heart about to give out. Drew gritted his teeth wanting to take Frankie from her hold. "Take her home now! So I can clean this up," Drew demanded staring deep into Lucas's eyes. Lucas nodded, walking to Imogen and lifting her body from the ground. "Hey, Hey, hey," he soothing voice said to her but she continued to shake her head.

Imogen went limp in his arms, her knees giving out as she continued shaking her head. "Oh god, What about Parker?" she cried, having Lucas dragging her body out of the room. "No!" she sobbed loudly before leaving the room.

Drew hid the pain he was in perfectly, the only one who knew he's hurting is himself. He stared down at her face, softly caressing her cheek and seeing all the blood she was covered in. He closed her eyelids letting her rest in peace.

---

Lucas drove her to Robert's house wanting to catch him up with everything that happened. Lucas was currently preparing some tea to help comfort a stunned Imogen. Imogen sat down on her armchair, her lips quivered uncontrollably as she just stared at the ground. Lucas poured the tea into a cup, walking towards the living room. His heart ached eagerly, taking in the sight of his lover. He wished to take all the pain from her but there was nothing he could do but support her.

Imogen tried focusing on her breathing, to take her mind away from all the hurtful thoughts. "Hey," Lucas's voice softly echoed in her ears. Imogen kept her eyes fixed on the ground. "Here, drink this," he said, receiving a no from her head.

"I can't," she said.

"Yeah, you can," he said, rubbing her back and handing the cup towards her but she continued to shake her head. "Please just drink it," his soft voice somewhat comforted her. She sighed moving her hands to take the drink.

Before the drink could go into her mouth, a sob breaks through instead, it's like a dam has been blown apart. "This is my fault," she squeezed her eyes shut from the sting of tears. "No, No, no,no, hey," Lucas said, lifting her chin to look into his gaze. "This is Taisla's fault! Okay, she did this," he comforted her but she didn't believe him. Suddenly the door slammed opened, meaning Drew has arrived.

Imogen jolted from her chair, speed walking up towards the door. "What did you do with her?" her voice spat.

Drew rolled his eyes and massaged his temples getting ready for this ridiculous argument, "Oh my god, I told you to calm her down," Drew groaned, walking up to them.

Imogen glared at Lucas gesturing for him to not speak. "Don't ignore like I'm not standing in front of you!" she pointed her finger at him, her anger taking over the sadness she was feeling.

"Calm down," He said, rubbing her arms but she snapped them away.
"You knew! You knew that if she used all those powers that she would die, didn't you?" she spat, every syllable coated in venom. Her eyes swelling up with tears like a balloon swelled up with air.

Drew shrugged his shoulder. "Yes, Yes I did," he bluntly said, not giving a damn about her tantrum.

Her muscles were tensed, her blood boiled at his reply to her. It was the last straw for her, having him not care at all about her dearest friend. "Ugh!" She clenched her fist, lifting it up, and with all her might she slapped him across the face. Pent up aggression flowing away right after.

Drew didn't say anything, his expression didn't change at all. "You need to listen to me and prepare for what I have to tell you," he said, staring deep into her tearful eyes.
