Forgotten
Lucas
The nurse was waving the light in front of my face telling me to follow it. After that, she grabbed a clean thermometer and placed it in my mouth. She said my temperature was normal and just to wait for the doctor to come in. The nurse was still in my room but was attending to the other patients. My room wasn't a solo one, but instead was one filled with five patients.
"Nurse Olly, do you know where Dr. Shepherd is?" another short brunette nurse came in asking.
"I think he's getting ready to go into surgery. Why?" She questioned, shoving a thermometer in another patient's mouth.
"There was a girl found collapsed in the bathroom covered in her blood. I think she needs to go into surgery immediately," she said.
"You're right, I'll help you page him." They both left the room.
Could that girl have been Imogen? No, she seemed just fine before I left her. My curiosity got the best of me and I went out of the room to the hallway.
I saw the same nurses along with a few extra ones coming, but this time pushing a patient. They came closer to me along with the doctor. I couldn't tell who the girl was from the distance, but as she got closer, I recognized her angelic face.
"Imogen!" I shouted, trying to get closer to her. Her mouth was covered in dried blood down and it let down to her neck. Her beautiful face had lost its natural shade, looking lifeless on the bed.
"Sir, you're going to have to see her later," the nurse was holding me back from following them. I watched them turn towards the operation room.

Although all I had seen was Imogen's physical injuries, she was actually bleeding internally. Her brain was swelling from all the injuries the mystery man-caused. The doctors were able to stop the bleeding. They said there was a possibility she wouldn't wake up for a few days, but they were wrong. It was longer.
It's been around two months now, visiting Imogen in her hospital bed. I shouldn't have listened to her and forced her to go first, but would that really change anything? I won't be able to live with myself if she doesn't wake up.
Usually Drew and I would take turns in visiting her. Students from the high school came during the first week to shower her with flowers and cards. Frankie came to visit right when she found out. She expressed to me how guilty she felt for picking a fight with her just days before.
Today, Drew had the night shift, and I was waiting for him to arrive. The first time I had met Drew was in gym and he didn't seem to like me. However, he still remained friendly. That was until he found out I was interested in Imogen. Now he constantly mocked me, but I don't care. He never failed to be vocal about hating the decision I made that night. He blamed me for her condition and wished it was me instead. To be fair, I wish that too.
Imogen. My heart had beamed with joy on my birthday, knowing that I would finally find out the name of my soulmate. I had never met a girl named Imogen, but I knew that when I did, it would have been worth the wait. My parents seemed to have the perfect relationship and have been together before they even knew they were each other's soulmates. They always said that they felt as though they were made for each other. I only knew Imogen for a while but I felt like it's been years already. Her smile alone was able to brighten my day. My days have been pretty dim without her.
"Imogen, why can't you just wake up?" I said grabbing her cold slender hand that has lost its natural creamy skin color. My favorite feature was how her cheekbones would flush faintly pink around me.
"Can I come in?" A voice caught my attention. I looked up to see a tall, lean, black-haired guy, leaning against the wall and waiting for my approval.
"Who are you?" I asked
"I'm Imogen's brother." My brows furrowed as I looked up at him.
"She told me she didn't have any siblings," I said.
"I doubt my mother ever mentioned me. She put my sister and me into foster care, but we got separated. By the time she had Imogen, we were already in new families. There would be no reason to tell her since she had no memories of us," he said, walking towards her bed, admiring her every feature.
"About that her- your mother passed away 2 months ago." I awkwardly mentioned. "I'm sorry."
"Yes, I noticed. Can I just have some time with her alone?" I nodded and I kissed Imogen's forehead and then walked out of the room. My stomach was rumbling, so I decided to use this time to go out and buy a satisfying lunch.
*****
After my delicious lunch, I came back and went to Imogen's room. Imogen's brother wasn't there anymore. I hope he actually was her brother and didn't just lie to me. I'm starting to regret leaving her alone, but she looked the same as when I left. I stared at her beauty that still radiates through the dull skin. She had a kind of understated beauty, perhaps it was because she was so disarmingly unaware of her prettiness. I can't wait till she wakes up to be able to have her with me again.
I received a text and checked it to see it's from Drew saying that he's coming soon. He wasn't lying, he literally came in right after.
"Lucas the loser!"
"Drew the dick!"
Drew sat on the other side of Imogen.
"Princess wake up! The kingdom needs you," he joked, placing the new bouquet of roses he bought for her on the table. I grabbed her cold hand and held it tightly. I felt her hand starting to move, but it's not the first time so I didn't think any of it.
"Lucas?" I looked up to meet Imogen's sparkling chocolate eyes.
"Imogen!" She rubbed her eyes, trying to get used to the bright light. Once she stopped, she reached up and kissed me. I could feel my lips form a smile into the kiss.
"I missed you so much!" I hugged her as tightly I could. I never wanted her to leave me again. I wanted to be able to take care of her forever. She is my soulmate, after all. I need to make sure I'm able to protect her from anything.
The sound of snapping entered the room, "Hello?!" Drew said.
"Who are you?" She said furrowing her brows with confusion.
"What? Princess, it's Drew, remember? The other guy you like!" Drew let out a nervous laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. "I brought you roses, see!"
"I don't know anyone named Drew," she furrowed her brows. "I only know Lucas, my boyfriend." She grabbed my hand and came closer to me.
Drew's jaw tightened, and his eyes fill with anger. He stormed out without another word, pushing the nurse out of the way with his shoulder.
"You really don't remember him?" I asked, rubbing her cheek with my thumb.
"Yes, really," she said, biting her lip.
After we alerted the doctors, they made the nurses run some tests before they could decide if she's ready to leave. Imogen pleaded with the doctor to release her. He said so far everything came out okay and granted her approval to leave. She signed her paper to leave since she's her own guardian.
I helped her walk to the house since it had been a while and took her straight to her room.
"Imogen, while you were in the coma someone came to visit you and said he was your brother."
"But I don't have a brother." Her nose and forehead scrunched up.
"Well, he said your mom never told you about him," I informed her, "he may come back."
"Well, then I can't wait to see him if he's telling the truth. It will be nice to still have someone to care for me."
Imogen and I laid down in bed watching TV shows, her head starting to lean into my shoulder. I watched as her eyes kept closing and eventually she fell into a deep slumber. She must have been so exhausted from all the testing. I waited till she was fully into her dreams to be able to get up. I was going to quickly go buy groceries to fill up her fridge. Once I came back, I went to go check on her, but she wasn't there.
Imogen
My body kept shifting uncomfortably. The sunlight crept through the window, forcing my eyes to flutter open. My head was leaning on a car door's window, not the couch I thought I had slept away on.
"What the hell?" I shouted.
"Princess, you're awake," he smiled.
"Who the hell are you?" I asked, clenching my fists.
"I told you I'm Drew. You have known me since like 7th grade," his eyebrow raised.
"No, I have not Drew." I looked out the window and saw we were in the middle of nowhere. All I can see is a tree, more trees, and more trees. It was a moonless night. The only lights coming from the orange street lights flying overhead and the few headlights passing by. He parked the car in an empty parking lot, leading into a forest. He went to my side, lifted me up from the car, and started carrying me.
"Let go of me!" I squealed, hitting his chest with my fists, which seemed to not hurt him at all. He placed me down onto the ground.
"Get away from me!" I pushed him.
"Imogen, you know me, how could you forget me? You like me, remember."
I scrunched my brows. Like hell could I like him. How could I ever like him? I don't even know the damn guy. How do I know that he won't hurt me? I would rather die than ever be with him. Why would he think he has a chance with me? I just wanted to be with Lucas.
"You're lying, I would never like or care about someone like you!" I felt an excruciating pain coming from my wrist, causing me to fall down to my knees. I wept in pain and looked down to see only Lucas's name. I saw a bright light flash at me with all the memories I had with Drew. Every memory repeated what I just said, "I don't love you and I never will!"
The bright light disappeared, forcing me to come back to reality. I saw Drew getting strangled by a force that seemed like a wind. There was an invisible arm, holding him by his neck. Suddenly, he fell to the ground, but the force kept there, resisting all his efforts to get away. His face was turning blue. He was using whatever energy he had left to force the invisible hands off him. I could see his eyes starting to roll back and his soul leaving his body. I can't let this happen.
I ran towards him, tripping over a branch but landing just close enough to him. "Drew! Please stay with me," I whimpered.
"You.. rem..em..ber me." He forced the words out.
"I do!" I felt tears escape from my eyes onto my cheeks.
I can't let him die. There has to be a way I can help him. Let's see, come on, Imogen. Think! Every time I kissed Lucas his name became darker. Would that work if I did it to him? I can see his face starting to become a shade of purple. Hopefully, that's enough to put his name back on my wrist.
I pressed my lips onto Drew's and this time the kiss was different. He kissed me softly at first but then the kiss turned more hungry and passionate, making me cling onto him. I could feel the shivers being sent down my spine. His tongue moved swiftly with mine as soon as it entered my mouth. I broke the kiss to gather some much-needed oxygen. My eyes met with his, which were filled with lust. He gave me a teasing smile, pulling his hand to my cheek.
"More!" He said. He pressed his lips firmly against mine, kissing me passionately as his hands roamed down to my waist. My hands reacted, pushing him off me and backed away, stunned by my actions.
"Are you alright?" I asked, putting my fingers up to my swollen lips
"The kiss sure made it better." His face was plastered with a huge grin.
"I hate you!" I playfully shouted running back to the car.
"You can't hate me that much since you saved my life!" he yelled. My finger went up to feel my lips again and my mind was contorted with thoughts and emotions. I only kissed him because I couldn't let him die.
*****
During the drive home, my mind wandered off on thoughts about Drew. He never showed me his soulmate's name. His birthday had passed by months ago so he must know who it is right? I never really thought about it till now. Now that the thought had entered my head, it wasn't going to escape until I found out the answer. Should I ask him now? It's been pretty awkward in the car because of everything. Okay, Imogen, just ask him, it's no big deal.
"Drew!"
"Yes, Princess?" He smiled, turning down onto my block.
"Who's your soulmate?" I asked, watching his smile leave his face and his body suddenly tensed up.
"You of course," he blurted out.
"Show me your wrist then!" I demanded.
"No."
"Show me!" I persisted.
He was ignoring my eye contact, just focusing on the road. "Why does it matter?" he asked, rubbing his chin.
He's lying to me. If he wasn't he would be looking straight into my eyes.
"I just want to know."
He parked the car outside my house. "Fine, you really wanna know!"
"That's why I asked," I spat rolling my eyes.
"I don't want to show you because it's not you. It's Frankie but I want to be with you!" he insisted, trying to grab my hand but I pulled it away.
"You are breaking the rules. You or Frankie could die because of this! We learned this in history. Are you just ignoring the teacher?" I sighed, sweeping my hair from my face.
"I don't care. I would risk my life for you!"
"I don't want you to."
"You're such a brat," he let out a frustrated sigh.
"I just don't want you to risk your life for me. It's not worth your time. Risk it for Frankie, your mom, or someone other than me!" I opened the car door, slamming it shut, and started walking up to my driveway.
"So Lucas could risk it, but I can't?"
Did he really roll down his window to keep this conversation going?
"Yes, he can," I turned on my heel, to look back at him.
"Why?"
"Because I can't do anything about it. We are dating now. You and I are just friends, not even good ones. Why would I let you risk your life for me?"
"How could you like him?" He said. "You just kissed me so I wouldn't die. That has to mean something."
I shook my head, turning around towards my house. "It means I was being nice!"
Sooooooo yup Frankie is Drew's soulmate but he won't listen. I wonder how far he will go to risk his life for Imogen.
Do you like Drew or Lucas so far? Who's the team you on. I wanna know lmao can pick a guy yet or still need some time?
I hope you enjoy!
