Where was I?
Hi, reader.
This isn't a chapter. It's been months since the last one so you must have been wondering where I've been. Well, grade 11 is tough. It leaves no time for me and my hobbies. But, I kinda felt bad to those who wanted to see the end of this story. So I'll tell you, since I already had the idea but had no time or motivation to flesh it out properly.
Although, I might write the actual story in the near future since semester break is coming soon and so is Christmas break.
A brief summary of the last chapter.
Kaira is the game manager of the previous game. Blank was leading the game due to them understanding how Kaira thinks.
The next chapter focuses more on creative and tricky games. All of them original so just from that it will probably take me three whole days to imagine and write. No time for that.
In the end, Blank wins against the beastmen. But instead of Miko (the older neko-girl) barging into Sora, for a rematch, it was Kaira that did. Instead of a rather bullshit toss coin, you guys get a hide and seek game.
Kaira, The Cheater. She allied herself to the beastmen, so as soon as they were defeated she was automatically challenged by Blank unwillingly, since Blank did challenge the beastmen themselves.
Challenging the cheater is a special game. A 'bonus game' if you will. You can only challenge her once you acquire two race pieces.
The winner of the game instantly acquires all the race pieces and a single wish. The loser gets killed.
Tet will be the one who would manage the game.
Tet tries to talk Kaira out of it, but, she was determined to play the game against Blank. With a face full of joy she disregards Tet's pleading and goes on to fight Blank.
Meanwhile, Sora and Shiro were once again conflicting with their own emotions. To care about themselves or their very first friend. They came up with theories of loopholes from the rules that Tet had stated but there was no such luck for them. Finally, Sora formed a resolve to save Shiro. In order to save Shiro they must win. Even against an enemy they could not win against they must win. Even if the enemy was someone they didn't want to be gone.
So he hardened his heart and faced against Kaira.
Tet had decided that the game will be a hybrid between hide and seek 'n seek mixed with tag.
One team is the seeker. One team is the hider.
The seeker must touch the hider in order to win.
The hider must not be touched by a seeker within 24 hours to win.
In a game where a person that can travel freely anywhere, Kaira was unbeatable.
Blank was the seeker and Kaira was the hider.
The place the game took place was not unique. It was fashioned by Tet himself but it looked very similar to Imanity's country but it looked older.
The reason being was because it was a place that existed before everything was decided by games. The time when war still ravaged across Disboard.
Sora and Shiro ran through the environment. People and other beings walked with them. But it was only Blank that could see them. The people from this simulated world could not interact with Sora and Shiro, nor can they see Blank.
Finally, they saw Kaira. They tried to touch her but their hands went through her. At first, they thought she was cheating again, but seeing her not respond, they realized something.
It was Kaira from the past.
Kaira had tears in her eyes and in her hands she held different objects 12 of them in total. All of them looked very holy and sacred.
She then took a hammer and proceeded to smash each relic. Golden Chalices cracked and sacred books scattered into torn pages. Finally she destroyed a Silver Wreath and the skies soon turned dark.
A black portal appeared in front of her and sucked her in. Blank could only stare at what had happened. In the background, they saw another distinct figure slowly walking towards them.
It was Kaira. The real one.
Once again she had a smile on her face. Realizing the situation Blank panicked and tried running away.
They thought that Kaira had somehow cheated and made herself the seeker. Making them the hider. But, it was too late. She already dashed and took a hold of them both. Sora in an act of desperation tried shaking her hand off but her hold was too strong. Finally, he had given up.
Accepting his fate he took a look at Kaira.
She instantly dived her face into his chest.
On his chest, he felt a bit of wetness.
She cried quietly.
She finally let her strength go and caused all three of them to fall to the ground. Even after falling to the ground she still had her face buried in Sora's chest.
Sora continued to wait for Blank's inevitable death, but it did not come.
Kaira soon raised her face before her eyes met with Sora and she instantly hugged his head.
She kept muttering "I'm sorry" at Sora.
Sora did not know how to reply and tried comforting her by patting her back. It was then that he realized that he bottom half was slowly disappearing. Slowly disappearing into thin air.
Shocked, he tried asking her what was happening, but she just cried louder. She started saying stuff like "Sorry for using you, sorry for tricking you....." etc.
Sora suddenly grabbed her shoulder and tells her that she shouldn't be sorry about anything. He said that she should first explain herself to them.
She then calmed down. But it was too late. Kaira also realized this and she tried to get a last message out.
"You know, I've always-........"
That was it.
She just disappeared after that. Not a single trace that she even ever existed was found.
But wait, there was a proof.
Tears once again filled the eyes of both Shiro and Sora as they both braved to go into the portal the Kaira from this world was sucked into.
Inside the portal was another world. Inside it 12 figures watched over Kaira the place was extremely dark so the faces of those figures cannot be seen. Although all of them were quite far from where Blank was standing. On the ground in front of her was a chess board.
After taking a closer look she was winning. half of the enemy's pieces were already killed while she had only lost 3 at most.
Before she can make another move, everything stopped.
Out of nowhere Tet appeared. He congratulated Blank in their victory, his eyes at that time were a little red. But, he had still kept his normal face in front of them.
Sora asked Tet for an explanation and he did give one.
Tet explained that Kaira had been wanting to pass on to another life and leave her cursed body. This was indeed the only game that could kill her and she did. She had planned everything from the start. She didn't plan on acquiring all the race pieces and challenge Tet on being a God nor did she want anything to wish for. All she wanted was to finally rest.
Sora asked Tet if this was what Kaira really wanted.
Tet only gave a smile and said, "How should I know?" a bitter smile slowly forming on his face.
Sora then asked what was happening in the background. He had suspected that those 11 figures were Gods and the objects she destroyed earlier were sacred treasures she managed to steal.
She was now fighting against those 12 Gods after mocking them and she was winning! Doesn't this mean that she wanted to become someone like the cheater in the first place? Sora's thoughts and all that had happened were conflicting with one another.
Finally Tet came closer to Kaira. The one who had a smug face that was frozen in time as her hand grabbed a pawn.
"This scene is very nostalgic indeed." he whispered.
He then turned around at the complaining Sora and said "Win? She didn't win. She lost."
Sora's face was stuck. Lose? Unless she did something absolutely stupid she could not actually lose the game she was playing right now. If she wins she probably asks the Gods a favor to grant her a wish, like becoming the cheater.
"She did not play in order to achieve anything. She played against these Gods in spite. In order to make us realize that we are stupid. She showed us how mortals can surpass even Gods."
He created a small ball of light to illuminate the surrounding figure. In front of the chess board that was opposite of Kaira was Tet.
She lost the game due to the Gods cheating. It was at that moment after the game that she was thrown into the fiery pits of hell to burn throughout eternity. It was also at that moment that changed Tet's perspective of the world. Allowing him to set his sight on becoming the One true God. Before achieving power he turned Kaira into something that defied the power of the world and all of it's rules.
She became the Cheater.
As to her reason for challenging the Gods in the first place was in order to rebel. Her family and everyone she knew was killed in the war. Being the only survivor, this became her one and only goal.
To beat the Gods.
After hearing the story Tet once again smiled as he offered Blank 10 more race pieces.
"Once again, congratulations on winning. Now, state your wish."
"I wish she was alive. That all of the stupid things you've done had never happened to her."
"Something like that is not easily done. Of course I can do it but there will be a lot more changes, some I think you won't like."
"Do it. Whatever is coming, We'll win against it. I assure you. Because Blank doesn't lo-................"
"Done."
With a snap of his fingers the world warped.
Then everything went blank.
.............................................
Sora's head was very fuzzy. Probably because they've been playing games for a few days straight with no rest. Yes, back to episode 1 if you don't quite get it.
So let's speed things up.
They were transported to the fantasy world by Tet just like in the anime. Everything that had happened in the anime was the same. They carried the same smug face as they walked across the castle while trying to become King.
Then they met again.
It was Kaira staring across Blank
There and then, both teams felt a strong headache but everything went normally afterwards. The game was poker. The popular choice in games was that so it was what both teams went with.
Both teams have never lost in their entire life. Both pride in never losing in their entire life.
So when both teams slammed a royal flush of spades on the table, panic entered both their minds. In the perspective of it's viewers it seems that they have caught 2 cheaters in one game.
Kaira stared into Sora's soul. He did not show the slightest of hesitation and was about to bluff his way out of the problem but, Kaira simply stood up and told the judge that she cheated and left.
The last scene is Sora trying to find Kaira and when he finally finds her he asked himself. They stared at each other for a good 10 seconds before he finally thinks:
"What am I doing again?" and starts to walk away.
"Good Game, Sora."
What she said made him froze and turn around.
"How did you know my name?" there was no playing around it. The probability of her calling another person was too slim and the fact that Sora was a Japanese name.
"I don't know. I just do."
She gave a rather confused smile before turning around to walk away. Leaving Sora with Shiro alone.
Meanwhile, Tet could only watch from afar and say:
"Ehh? Don't act like that Sora. I have a feeling you'll be meeting again."
He could only say as he watched from a distance the Sora whose virgin hormones were triggered by having a romantic cliché happen to him with such a beautiful girl.
