~Chapter Twenty-Six~
A/N
Yes, I died for a whole month.
Seriously though, during October I had no motivation to write, especially since I hadn't continued the next episode of Assassination Classroom yet because I either had classes or didn't have internet.
Basically, for the early readers that stuck around, I had one of those periods where I didn't update; only read.
That being said, I still don't have internet at this time, but I want to at least write a chapter for those still waiting for one (though I doubt it, given that I didn't update for a while). I hope you enjoy it!
(Also, Takaoka was too OOC in the last chapter-)

"Dad...
Where are you going?"
The coward of a father stares back at my younger self, his eyes widening in hesitation as he clutches the suitcase. Am I... in the past? I try speaking, but it's as though my vocal chords were never there to begin with; I can't interrupt what has already happened. I grit my teeth, not wanting to revisit this memory. I try moving, but my feet are glued to the floor, leaving me forced to do nothing but watch helplessly.
"[Y/N], sweetheart. I'm going away for... work. Don't tell mommy just yet."
"But dad, you never left for work before," my younger self retorts. "Why would you leave now?"
Another pause. Another hesitation. I can remember how I felt before; so confused, so conflicted. I wanted to trust that man that stood before me, but in the end, it doesn't matter. He'll just keep running away. I know this already, but...
"Dad..."
"..."
"Dad, please tell me-"
When he immediately reaches for the lock, ready to leave, I finally am able to move and speak. With this, I take my opportunity.
"[Y-Y/N]?" Father mutters, reaching my gaze. I had held his wrist so he couldn't leave.
"Dad..." I mumble, a tear streaking down my cheek. "The police had said that they'd take care of the situation, so long as you would stay as witness... So why?"
"[Y/N]-"
"Why!?" I yell, frustrated. More tears pour out of my sorrow-filled eyes. "Why did you leave!?"
Instead of shouting back, the man looks down at the floor, dropping his gaze. "I... I was scared-"
"Scared of what!? You're not the one hit every day! You don't have constant fear of wondering how bad the next one will be! You don't-"
Suddenly, I feel a hand on my wrist. I flinch, but when I turn my head, my face softens. It was my younger self.
"You need to get over it," she said.
"But-"
"We've been holding this grudge for the last couple of years. People are cowards, and sometimes, they have every right to be."
"I..."
"You don't need to get over this at this very moment, but..." She holds my hand. "If you can forgive Takaoka, then you can surely forgive him."
I open my mouth to give my thanks, but my vision is suddenly clouded by a bright white. I grimace, closing my eyes shut, but the moment I open them-
"[Y/N]...?"
-is the time I'm brought back into reality.
"[Y/N]!" Karma instantly hugged me. I winced slightly, pain flowing in my arm (however, less than before) but I hug him back. "How is it that in every situation that involves me, you're around?" With this, the infamous Akabaka gave me a mischievous grin that would send chills up a normal person's spine.
...I am not a normal person, which is evident by me brushing off what I just dreamed of while I was unconscious.
"Hey, if you're going to get shot, I might as well wait for a month until you awaken." After hearing this, I immediately shoot up. "A month!?" I exclaim, not wanting this to be true. Nobody wants to miss a whole month of their life that they could've had! At least, I think that's the case.
"Nah, I'm just pulling your leg," Karma teases, smirking. "You were out for just a day. You weren't shot in any vital areas, but, seeing as your body is kinda weak, you passed out."
"Oh, I see..." I mumble, taking a look around the room. I was in a hospital room, the walls as plain white as every other. There were a couple vases of flowers, along with some other patients beds. Wait, I recognize this room...!
"Are we back home!?" I yell yet again. Karma nods. "Yeah, you kinda missed the last day of vacation."
I groan in annoyance and lay back down. "I cannot believe you didn't force me awake, Akabaka! I could've went to the beach one last time or something!"
Akabaka groans as well. "I'd rather wait for you to get better than let you go swimming with an open wound! Also, on a side note," Akabaka squints at me, "wouldn't it be better if you called me 'Bakabane' rather than 'Akabaka'?"
"Nah, all the other fanfics use 'Bakabane'. Besides, 'Akabaka' is cuter~," I tease, sticking my tongue out playfully. The Baka opens his mouth, but no words came out. "Aww, cat got your tongue?" I question, grinning. "Nyah~!"
Instantly, my body shudders as my grin slightly fades. "Remind me not to do that ever again," I mutter with a shaky voice.
"Duly noted."
