Chapter 24: Bonding

"Toothbrush, blanket, suit, webslingers.." you listed under your breath, stuffing your backpack with necessities. You had a small blanket folded over your suit, which sat at the bottom.

Always had to be prepared.

You dressed up in stripped pajamas, a long sleeve button blouse with a matching pair of pajama pants.

You'd probably look crazy. It's the start of spring, after all. It's the type of weather where you'd slowly start wearing short sleeves at night, but you dressed like it was the start of winter.

Fluffy socks adorning your feet, you slipped on a pair of slides and zipped up your bag. You slung it over your shoulder and headed downstairs, spotting your mom standing at the bottom with a huge smile.

"Finally having a girls night! Thank goodness. You only seemed to get along with the boys" she breathed in relief, and you whined.

"Mooomm!"

"Teasing, I'm teasing!"

"Stop teasing me!" Marinette groaned, hands buried in her hands. Alya laughed, hand over her mouth.

"Take this as a lesson, kids, to never be mean to your friends" the autumn haired girl concluded, and her little twin sisters laughed at the story.

"Off to bed now, alright? You gotta be ready for the amusement park tomorrow!" Alya gently ushered her sisters along, who seemed to finally comply.

The doorbell ringing ruined the moment, raising their excitement.

"Can we please meet your friend? PLEASE? We promise we'll be good!" They begged in unison, on their knees to show desperation. Alya looked down on them before chuckling.

"Alright, but you're both going straight to bed after!" She caved in, and Marinette immediately beat her to opening the door.

The door swung open to reveal you, dressed in pajamas.

"Hey Marinette" you greeted shyly, and the bluenette smiled.

"Hey (name). Glad to see you came!" She held the door fully open and you walked in. Alyas home welcomed you with earthy colors, nice beige walls and dark brown couches. Paintings and plants hung about the walls.

It felt homey.

Speaking of said girl, the blogger waved vigorously alongside two smaller kids. The site of them confused you, and definitely startled you once they ran around you.

They're twins..?

"You're alyas friend! Hi!" One of them, clad in pink pajamas cheered. You nervously laughed and spared her a wave.

"Are you gonna talk about secrets? Boys?" The other in blue pestered, and Alya shook her head from a distance. She approached from behind and grabbed them both, both arms wrapped around the girls.

"Sorry about them. They were just about to head to bed. Isn't that right girls?" She asked expectantly, making her little sisters burst into a giggling fit.

"Yes, yes we were!" The responded, and Alya excused herself before walking off to set them to bed.

Marinette giggled, her bluebell eyes following her leave. They soon darted to you, to which she scooted over and patted the spot next to her.

You walked over and threw your backpack on the floor, sinking back into the couch.

"I'm not good with kids" you finally said, scratching your arm. Marinette laughed.

"Youre better then you think" she defended, and you let out a sarcastic laugh.

"Yeah right. It was so hard to even talk to Manon..you dealt with it like a pro" you admitted, and Marinette shrugged.

"She's cute, but a wolf in sheep's skin. I'm proud I finally got courage to say no to her now. I'm too soft sometimes" she said, and Alya finally emerged from her sister's room. She quietly had shut the door, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Don't you seem dandy" you pointed out, and Alya finally joined you guys on the couch.

"Oh hush, it's hard just to get those kids to sleep. I've been through it all!" She cried dramatically, but in a quiet manner. Likely to make sure the kids wouldn't wake back up.

"Good thing I don't have siblings" you muttered under your breath, but it was well heard by the two girls around you.

"You should've heard them when you were akumatized into lady WiFi, they only knew it was manon because she was 'annoying'" Marinette laughed into her palm, and you punched her shoulder.

"I DID NO SUCH THING-"

"Shhhh!" Alya shushed the both of you, though she had a guilty smile on her face as well. You whispered a quiet 'sorry' for your outburst.

"Anyway, lets make some orange juice. Don't want you kids getting thirsty while you argue your throats out" she teased, getting up and heading to the kitchen.

You and Marinette tailed along, but you craned your neck closer to the bluenette and whispered loudly,

"'Kids'? If we're kids then alyas my mom"

Marinette nearly snorted, pursing her lips to hold back a loud laugh.

Alya whipped around with her hands on her hips, already in character.

"I heard that, (name)! Call me a mom and I'll act like one" she stuck her tongue out before turning back around, grabbing a few oranges and the strange machine that squeezes the juice out.

She set it down on the island and threw you both an orange, which you caught effortlessly while Marinette fumbled with it between her fingers.

You watched her struggle before catching it with your empty hand, holding it out for her to take.

She gratefully took it.

"Nice catch there (name)! You made it look so easy" she gawked, and your cheeks flushed. Your abilities were what made things easy, not you.

"Uh, thanks. It wasn't a big deal" you shrugged it off, and Alya carefully slide a knife in front of you and the bluenette. Confused looks plastered over your faces immediately, looking at Alya.

"It's to slice your oranges in half, dummies"

"Oh" you and Marinette managed to express in unison, causing a moment of silence before laughter broke loose.

"Mari and I share one braincell" you slid your arm over her shoulder, and said girl blushed.

You gave her a nickname.

Alya noticed too, a big grin on her face at the sudden accomplishment.

"Let's get to making that orange juice!"

After a tough experience of squeezing oranges and even getting a squirt in your eye, you were proud to say you and your friends squeezed out a whole jug of orange juice.

Your hands practically ached from twisting the oranges.

Alya had set the juice down on a tray over the coffee table, three cups for you all to drink the hard earned citrus.

"We should pick out a movie. Hey, (name), wanna pick one?" Alya asked, and you nodded.

"Yeah, sure" you got off the couch and crouched in front of the tv, looking through the multiple selections.

While you were looking sorting through them, Alya started talking again.

"Now, superhero talk. Ladybugs been around since the pharaohs! But no way our Ladybug could be 5000 years old, so.." Alya paused and logged onto an app on her phone, showing it to Marinette.

You listened in closely, wondering where the auburn haired girl was going with this.

"I downloaded a great app that analyze some recordings of her talking. Based on the frequencies of her voice, turns out she's a girl our age!" She excitedly rambled, but something distracted you from listening further.

You could easily hear kids were behind you, gulping down your precious orange juice.

You whipped around, jaw slacked. All the juice was gone, and you didn't get to have any of it.

'Those brats! I worked my ass off for that juice..' you mentally grumbled, watching them run off.

Marinette took advantage of the situation and pointed at the vacant jug, which spun on its side in an agonizingly slow place.

"Uh, Alya? The orange juice.."

That's all it took for Alya to avert her attention to the empty jug, stood behind the couch in shock and an irk of irritation.

"I worked so hard" you cried, and Alya let out a small chuckle.

"Guess that's what happens when you insult moi" she smirked, leaving you with stubbornly crossed arms.

"I only said you'd be my mom! That's a total compliment because I'm practically an angel!" You defended as she walked off into the twins room, setting them to bed once again.

You heard the girls blame it on the 'sapotis'.

Whatever that was..

Alya shut the door to their room with the shake of her head and Marinette finally brought out the melon, immediately lifting your mood.

You rushed to move the empty cups out of the way, carrying it all to the sink and gently setting it down.

"What were we talking about again?"

Marinette rushed to the movie options, holding them out.

"We were talking about which movie to watch!" She cheered, but a nervous smile was on her face.

Alya spotted the ladybug movie in her hand. It was the one they didn't even get to see last month, and they finally had it in disk form.

That snapped her right back into her Ladybug rambling.

"Oh! Yeah! Ladybug. She's like, a high school girl so to figure out who she really is all we need to do is find a girl our age who's always late-" Marinette seemed about fed up from Alyas rambling, and you were able to spot it whilst leaning against the kitchen counter.

"Don't you think there's a good reason why she keeps her identity a secret?" She interrupted, a cross look on her face.

You blinked in surprise, and that blink was all it took to spot the twins out of bed and eating the melon you badly wanted to eat.

Their giggles rang out throughout the house, breaking off the tense conversation. Alya grew extremely annoyed, marching to her sister's room.

"All right, that's enough! Get out of bed one more time and no one will be going to the amusement park tomorrow!" She scolded, and her sisters didn't take it to heart.

"It's not us! It's the-"

"This is your last warning! No. Joke!" She pointed at them both, a hard glare darting between the two.

Both you and Marinette shared a look.

"Come here" you whispered loudly to lighten the tension, and she complied with a light smile.

It felt better to have you try to brighten the atmosphere.

"I'll wash the dishes, I heard running water can sound pretty peaceful" you nudged Marinette knowingly, and she leaned back against the fridge while you started rinsing the empty jug first.

She looked at you with warm eyes, but the more she looked, the more she felt something bother her.

"Hey, why are you so heavily dressed? I don't mean it in a bad way or anything, but it is getting pretty hot lately.." she asked, starting a mindless conversation.

"I get cold very easily" you responded monotonously, continuing to wash the glass jug.

Alya shut the door with a slam before approaching and leaning against the island.

She continued the previous conversation.

"What were you saying about her secret identity?" She asked, and Marinette stood up straighter.

"Ladybug needs it to protect her family and friends, otherwise the villains could use them to get to her" she retorted, and you unconsciously nodded your head along with her claim.

For the third time, the children came back with barrels of laughter as they decided to try watching a movie.

Alya stomped over, blocking the tv as she growled in frustration. The twins laughed,

"It's not us! It's-"

"That's it!" She snatched the girls up from the couch, fists balling up the backs of their shirts.

"Come on Alya! We won't do it again!" They whined, and she put them back in bed before taking their hats off.

"Yeah? It's too late! We'll go to the park when you can behave some other day. Now go to sleep!" She shut the door without a second glance behind her, leaving the twins with tears welled up in their eyes.

By the time she settled down on the couch, you joined and laid down on your stomach, taking up a completely empty spot. Marinette sat down beside Alya.

"..but really though, if I knew who Ladybug really was if keep it a secret. I would even help her! Say if you were Ladybug. I'd cover for you! When you needed to transform in school, fight the baddies, yknow?" Alya admitted, and you hummed in acknowledgement.

"Oh yeah? Well if I was Ladybug I wouldn't even tell you to protect you from the 'baddies' you know?" Marinette quoted sarcastically, causing a cackle to escape you.

"Are you serious? If I were Ladybug I'd totally tell you because I tell my best friend everything" she said boldly, causing you to raise a brow.

'Much easier said than done..'

"What about you, (name)?" Alya turned to look at you, and Marinette stared at you as well.

"I agree with Marinette, it's not an easy thing. You really can't risk anything as a superhero" you explained, and Alya crossed her arms.

"Hm..you should awfully wise. Are you Ladybug?" She joked, erupting laughter from all of you.

"God no I'm not! Do I look like I can pull off spots?" you pointed at yourself, a disgusted look on your face. Marinette shook her head.

"Oh, (name)..what would we do without you?" She wiped a tear caused by her laughter, and you felt your heart swell with pride.

"You'd die a boring, miserable, life that's for sure-" you cut yourself off, feeling goosebumps prickle all over. You shivered at the uncomfortable feeling frantically reaching your bones.

You rubbed your arms in a useless attempt to warm up.

"Hey, you okay? You seem cold" Alya approached attentively, and you nodded slowly.

"Yeah..yeah..just a little colder than usual. Can you maybe check on your sisters by the way? Just to see how they're doing" you asked, trying not to seem stranger then you were already acting.

Alya nodded, "yeah..sure thing" she agreed with hesitation, heading over and slowly pushing the door open.

You followed behind her, and just as you suspected there was danger. Two disgusting devil looking creatures.

"The sapotis!" You seethed, pushing Alya away from the doorway. You narrowly dodged their leap out of the bedroom.

You watching as they ran around with endless energy, a grimace prominent on your face.

'I literally hate kids'

Another update!

This chapter was super long, but I decided to strengthen the readers friendships so it doesn't feel like adriens the whole center of this ^^

This is your story, after all. Adriens just a piece of it.

Though, there's also a certain someone I'm really aiming for the reader to befriend 👀👀👀
