Chapter 2
Note: My part~ Hope you enjoy. Q w Q
PewDie’s P.O.V
I gently let go of the male below me, finally allowing him to sit upright. I analyzed his facial expression, confusion written all over his features. I could tell he was at a loss for words, his mouth was slightly agape and his eyes never left me.
“You know, you’re suppose to tell me your name too.” I gave a soft smile, in hopes of getting his attention.
He still did not respond, his eyes locked with mines. I got up uncomfortably, the pain stinging my chest as I stood. My hand trailed to the tears in my clothing, the tips of my finger touched the thick blood that now soaked my shirt. Those bullets really hurt but there shouldn’t be a problem with healing.
“C-Cry. My name’s Cry.” The male finally spoke, his voice was quiet and barely audible.
“Cry?” I repeated, wondering what kind of name that was. Did he cry a lot?
“Are you a…?” He continued but his words trailed off, still watching suspiciously at my every move. I could tell he was nervous, his fingers dug into the dirt beneath him. He looked ready to run at any moment.
This time, I refused to reply to his question. I glanced in another direction, not wanting to see the fear on Cry’s face. I felt different, his eyes clearly categorized me as a monster. I recognized the fact that I was different but I wasn’t a monster. At least, I didn’t think I was.
“What are you doing out here?” I asked, almost in a whisper. I still refused to look him in the eye, afraid that they were still judging me.
“I got separated from my group.” He spoke, his words full of caution.
“I’m not going to hurt you, you know.” I mumbled quietly to myself, loud enough for Cry to barely hear my words.
There was small silence that followed, the soft breeze of the night air passed by carelessly as we idled. The night was quiet with exception of some groans and crying in the distance.
“Could you help me out then?” Cry asked as he pushed himself off the ground, a small smile appearing on his lips.
I finally gave in and looked towards him, this time, it was my turn to be confused.
“Really?” I asked, my voice clear with shock.
“Yeah...Why?” He questioned.
I paused and stared at the man. He couldn’t be serious, could he? Did he really trust me that easily?
“How are you so sure I won’t lead you into a horde?” I questioned, crossing my arms lightly.
“Well, you just said you weren’t going to hurt me.” Cry responded, mimicking my folded arms.
“Okay...But how are you so sure you can trust me?” I asked again.
I had no reason to argue back but this conversation was really strange. Usually, they would have ran by now. Even the idea of speaking to someone from the other side of the wall was already absolutely outrageous.
“I’ll take my chances.” He said, glancing around the area. He was undoubtedly lost. I was beginning to wonder if he was stupid or just insane.
I felt excitement bubble in my stomach, my mood brightened at the sudden change of events. For some odd reason, I felt more than glad to lead him.
“Fine.” I said, forcing back a giggle.
I began to walk, the soft footsteps behind me reassured that Cry was following. I began a route towards the wall, where I assumed he belonged.
“Wait.” I paused abruptly, my eyes scanned the area. A shadowy figure made it’s way swiftly past us a couple of times, tapping my shoulder lightly as if it were playing tag. I recognized her touch, a familiar creature. Cry on the other hand, was a little spooked out by the ghostly touch of a blurred shadow. He uneasily took a step back, eyes darting from one place to the other.
“Brita, I know it’s you.” I spoke.
“Aaw, how did you know?” She motioned with her fingers, finally coming to a stop in front of me.
I smirked and wiggled a finger in the air.
“Cause I’m a genius.” I stated.
She may not have a face but she was clearly unimpressed by my reasoning.
“Uh...F-Felix.” A voice behind me called. I turned around, realizing what the problem was.
“Right. Sorry. This is Brita. She’s one of the No Faces. You probably can’t understand her, I’ll be sure to tell you what she says though.” I reassured before turning back to the girl.
“I’m afraid to say, you’re in a bit of trouble Felix. And when I say a bit, I mean a lot.” She says, gesturing her words with precision.
“In trouble?” I asked, pressing her for further information.
“Right! Trouble! You do realize the Rakes know about the boy, right?” She questioned, tilting her body slightly as if to peer at Cry.
“Fuck.” I said, nearly slapping my palm into my face. The most important thing and I had forgotten because of my excitement.
“What? What do you mean?” Cry asked, finally finding the courage to approach us. He likely concluded that Brita was harmless as well.
“Have you heard about Rakes, Cry?” I asked, biting my lower lip nervously. I watched as Cry’s body shook, likely from hearing their names.
“Yeah. They gave a brief explanation of them before sending us out here.” He said.
“What about them…?” He questioned hesitantly, almost as if he actually didn’t want to know.
“They kind of want to….Eat you. And probably me as well.” I gave a sheepish laugh, trying to joke the issue off but I knew fully well that it wasn’t a laughing matter.
“What?!” Cry almost yelled but Brita managed to cover his mouth in time to prevent him from attracting attention.
“We have to hurry before they find you. They’re probably already on our trail. Doesn’t help that I smell of blood.” I grit my teeth, thinking deeply of the carnival’s layout.
“We’ll have to take the route around, it’ll buy us the most time.” I spoke. I quickly turned to face Cry, startling him slightly. Brita let go of his mouth as he took a deep breath, glad to be able to breathe normally again. Without further delay, I grabbed ahold of Cry’s hand and began to sprint. I made sure to keep a good pace, enough for a human to keep up.
“Brita, could you help us by being a lookout?” I questioned. She gave a brisk nod before disappearing into the shadows once more.
There was no way I was letting those Rakes get ahold of Cry.
The sky was growing darker and the trail was probably more difficult to see for Cry. I made absolute sure that his path was clear as we ran. I eventually heard heavy breathing and a few painful sounding coughs coming from the other.
“Are you alright?” I questioned, slowing down a significant amount.
“I’m fine...Just a little tired.” He huffed, his legs coming to a gradual stop.
I bit my lip, my head turned in every direction. My senses were becoming extra cautious as I could feel the approaching presence of the Rakes.
“They’re getting closer!” Brita motioned from a branch she was perched on.
“Come on Cry, just a little more!” I urged, feeling my heart racing from the adrenaline.
He looked up towards my begging eyes before giving me a nod. We continued the run but without fail, I could hear the ugly groans of the monsters.
“Shit.” Cry breathed, looking back at the pack of disfigured skeleton like figures. Their claws bared and ready to devour everything in their path, which happens to be us.
“Almost!” I called back, we were so close. Too close to stop now.
“Wait!” I heard Cry call. I looked towards him before we both came to came to a complete stop. Cry’s legs gave in, bringing him to his knees on the dirt floor.
“No! We’re almost there, you can practically see the wall.” I tugged, attempting to bring the male back to his feet. The clanking sound of bones got stronger, gradually stopping just a few steps away from us.
“I see you brought us dinner.” A familiar Rake growled, the group scratched the ground eagerly.
I glared in response, not amusing the monster one bit.
“Hand over the boy.” Avid nearly roared, the dark sockets of his eyes almost seemed to flare. The group roared in agreement, flashing their razor sharp claws in front of them.
I smirked.
“Over my dead body.”
In one swift movement, I grabbed Cry’s arms.
“Wha-?”
“Sorry.” I whispered quickly, before tossing him towards the wall. The Rakes, growled in disapproval as Cry landed roughly onto the light induced ground. The lights kept most of the creatures away from the wall during the night.
“Get safely in inside!” I called over, giving a sincere smile.
“I hope to see you again.” I whispered quickly to myself as I dodged out of the way of a lunging Rake, enraged at his ruined plan.
“Come on, Brita.” I called, running at full speed back down the path. Leading the horde in the opposite direction.
