Now if you'll excuse me, I have some spacing issues to try and fix. /sob
Mad's P.O.V
I growled in annoyance as I tried for a third time to move at least my arm, but to no avail.
My body tensed in pain and I just laid there, aching in severe agony from the aftermath of the Rakes beating.
I fucking hate them.
First, they hurt my precious Felix. Second, they put him in a temporary coma because of the poison in our claws and thirdly, they even dare cheer in victory right in front of my eyes.
I growled at the memory in disgust, I really wanted to fucking tear them apart and shove their insides right down their own throats.
Especially Avrid.
That bastard has been waiting for a chance to catch Felix in a weak state, but because I was around during the time, he couldn't even get near him.
But that damn human, I think his name was Cry. His presence distracted me from Felix's condition and made me forget. Felix didn't deserve the beating he got from the Rake, the cutie didn't deserve any of this nightmare.
I scolded myself for not being strong like I use to be. But, for his sake I had to make myself weaker in order to prevent myself from becoming like the other Rakes. I would do anything for Felix.
Despite the state that I was in, I wanted to watch over him, so I asked Brita if she could put me in the same room as him. Which she thoughtfully agreed.
I looked over at the sleeping figure who was breathing calmly in a rhythmic pattern. I felt myself warm up on the inside. His face had a peaceful yet innocent look, his eyelashes fluttered time to time which I found cute, his lips were curled up slightly in a dainty smile. Most likely from a good dream.
I smiled. He really is adorable, why does he not notice it? Not to mention he's very likable in general.
That little boy visited him before, which was rather sweet. But made me wonder if he took a liking to my Felix? Do I have another rival? The thought made me frown.
No one, absolutely no one, is allowed to take Felix away from me.
He means a lot to me, no one is worthy of such a magnificent creature. Not even me. However, I knew him much longer.
A fond memory came back to me from when I was human. Felix and I had just gotten out of school. The memory replayed in my head, as if it had happened yesterday.
I was walking along with Felix on the sidewalk, we were headed towards wherever the hell he wanted to go. I listened to him rambling on about how the teacher wasn't being unfair with the tests he was forcing us to do. I smiled, he was being an absolute cutie. A small blush went across my cheeks at the thought. The things he does to me, when did I start loving him?
"Mad! Are you even listening to me right now?"
I turned my head towards him, seeing his bright blue eyes flaring in annoyance. I chuckled.
"Yes, you were saying something about a test?"
He huffed and turned away.
"Whatever, you weren't even paying attention!" Felix tried walking ahead of me but I wrapped my arms around him and swung him around making him squeak.
"M-Mad!"
I smirked.
"Don't ignore me, please? You're hurting my feelings." I said playfully but I did feel kinda hurt.
"No! You weren't even-" I cut him off when I quickly placed him back on the ground gently but I pinned him against the brick wall. Making him look up at me.
"I was, but you were invading my mind again you adorable thing." I winked. A light shade of red began to tint his cheeks.
"Mad, you are something else..." He mumbled embarrassingly. I laughed and kissed his forehead gently, making him even redder.
"C'mon. Let's go to where ever you want to go, my treat."
Felix smirked.
"What, you trying to take me on a date or something?" He snickered.
I felt a sad smile etched on my face.
"Whatever." Was my joking response. We played around, but secretly I did take him on a date with me. I never could tell him how I felt, so I didn't. We held hands at one point, and I caught Felix smiling with a red flush across his face. But I don't think I needed to tell him, he already knew.
The memory faded away into an empty bliss, leaving a dumb smile on my face. However, that soon faded when I looked back at Felix.
The large blood stain on his shirt worried me and to think how much pain he must be in after the incident made me both upset and uneasy. I wanted to hold him and tell him it would be okay even if he couldn't hear me.
"As soon as I am healed, I'm going to tear apart the Rake that did this to him." I breathed out calmly, trying my hardest to bring my anger down. I would get worse if I didn't.
I gazed at Felix's calm face, and all traces of my irritation was smothered. My eyes then wandered down to the rag that was on top of his wound, I didn't notice it before. Who placed it there?
I sniffed the air, trying to concentrate on the scent of the rag. It smelled human, with debris and something foreign. Definitely from the other side of the wall, but who? Then a familiar face popped in my mind. Cry.
I didn't feel angry, well slightly, but it mostly faded into gratefulness.
I'm teaching the other humans how to understand No Faces, just so they can communicate with us better. Felix can teach them better since he knows their language better than me. However, I was still suspicious about Cry. He seemed to care for Felix though, which makes me at least a little more at ease. I still had one question circling in my mind, what was he going to achieve from doing all this? I decided to keep an eye on him and if he slips up even once...
I'll kill him.
Hopefully Felix will forgive me if that time ever comes. Although, I can just as easily blame it on the other Rakes.
I heard someone come into the room, breaking my thoughts. I raised my guard but lowered it slightly when I saw who it was. That human fucker called Cry.
I growled at him when he got closer to my dear Felix. He was startled at first, but it soon turned into annoyance when he noticed that it was me.
"Oh. It's you." He said irritatingly. I merely glared at him.
"Why the fuck are you here anyways? Felix needs his rest." My words came out uncomfortable, seeing as I don't usually speak their language. But, he didn't notice and looked back at Felix's peaceful face.
"I'm just checking up on him, he looks better than yesterday." He mumbled and reached out to the sleeping male, brushing a few strands of blonde hair away from his face.
"Don't touch him." I snapped.
"What's your problem? Its not like he's your boyfriend or something." He seethed. I smirked at the last part.
"He is, smartass." I lied.
The reaction he had on his face was priceless, it took all my might to not laugh or smile. His mouth was open in shock and he was left speechless from my words.
"Cat got your tongue?" I teased. He quickly snapped out of it and glared at me.
"Whatever. Your love affairs are none of my concern. Anyways, watch over him and Nate if you can. My group and I are going out to get some supplies."
I frowned.
"If you're taking Brita with you, take good care of her. Sunlight has different effects on specific members of our family. Sometimes it harms us. And, if something happens to her, you'll regret it big time, human." I growled. He had a sullen look in his eyes but nodded.
"Same goes for you, if Nate gets hurt while I'm gone."
I stared at him, my eyes blazing with malevolence had sent a shiver down his spine.
"Don't you dare go there, you humans have tortured and harmed us when we did absolutely nothing to you. Our kind wouldn't go as far as to harming a child."
Cry said nothing more, but he glanced over at Felix and only gave him a look as what I could only identify as adoration. He mumbled something that I couldn't hear. If only looks could kill.
Cry's P.O.V
When I exited the room, I could feel Mad's vindictive eyes on me. I returned the sentiment with equal malice. I really hated him, but for Felix's sake, I'll deal with it. But...Are they really together as a couple? The thought made me a bit sad and a little bit disappointed, for whatever reason.
It confused me.
I pushed those unwanted thoughts aside, I needed to focus on the task at hand. Which was infiltrating Lilly.
I went into the main room of the haunted house, seeing the crew getting ready. Snake was reloading and checking the guns he had on him from being a soldier, as well as Scott and Russ. Red was keeping a sharp eye on everyone, making sure that they were prepared.
"We only have a couple of rounds Cry, we'd better move while we still can." Snake commented. I nodded.
"Where's Nate?" I asked, getting slightly worried.
"I think he's playing with the infected outside." Red answered thoughtfully. Russ's face showed obvious disgust and concern.
"Is that safe?"
Red nudged him.
"Ow! It was just a question!"
The redhead glared at him while Russ rubbed his sore side.
"A rude one! And besides, the infected are really nice. A Babydoll gave me a flower this morning."
"It was dead though." Russ argued, in which Red nudged him again.
"It's the thought that counts you idiot. Anyways, she didn't have any eyes so she couldn't have known..." She trailed off sadly.
I frowned, most of the infected that I've seen are injured in one way or another.
"Speaking of injuries, what happened to your face Cry? There's a couple of scars on your left cheek. I haven't noticed until now." Scott said, pointing to my left cheek.
I gave him a confused look while reaching up to touch the spot he had been starting at. I felt the indents of three scars, they trailed in a sort of jagged vertical line down my cheek. It must have been from when Felix scratched me. I felt slightly guilty now. He licked it as an apology though...I felt my face warm up at the memory.
"Cry? What's wrong?" Scott asked, confused at the silence.
"I-Its nothing! We have to go now before it gets dark. And don't forget to hide your guns, the infected don't like them. They'll think we're provoking them." I said hurriedly, leaving the room in order to dodge the question.
Scott was about to halt me until Snake stopped him, which I was grateful for. Although, I managed to catch the small smirk on Snake's face.
When I got outside, the cold breeze blew past me along with a few leaves that went with the wind. I heard a few giggles and I turned my head in the direction of the sound. I saw Nate playing tag with a few Babydolls, a Dead Mother was watching them. Nate hid behind a rather large Leather Face who lifted him up onto his shoulders so he wouldn't get tagged.
I felt myself smiling warmly at the sight. Infected are really docile creatures, they are just different. I felt a pang of guilt when I remembered the old me who had hated them with a passion. I did have a reason though. An Infected killed my mother, she made me promise to take care of Nate.
I felt someone tap my shoulder and I jumped. I turned around abruptly, realizing it was just Red.
"Let's go Cry, it's time."
I nodded and followed her to the group.
"Does Nate know?"
She nodded.
"Told him before he went off to play. He told me to say that you better be careful and to bring him back an apple, if you can."
I chuckled, remembering that Nate loved apples.
"Of course."
With one last glance, I stared back at Nate before turning around and making my way over to the group, who were already walking in the direction of our so called "home."
Fallen leaves crunched underneath our feet as we walked, rays of sunlight were peaking through the small openings above us. Sun hardly came through here, I can see why they're sensitive to it.
Speaking of which, where was Brita?
As if to answer my question, a blurred shadow past by me swiftly. If it weren't for my previous experience, I probably wouldn't have even noticed. She stopped on a tree, her overalls covered in some strange substance. Looked kind of like mud.
"Hey Brita, I was just wondering where you were at. And, what's that on your jeans?" Her head tilted in confusion, and she touched her overalls. She rubbed the fabric and wiped away the substance. She just shrugged, as if it wasn't important.
That's right, language barrier.
I have yet to learn their language, let alone the sign language she uses.
Before I could speak up, she started to walk. A ray of sun brushed against her arm, making her flinch violently. This sent her straight onto her knees once again. She then proceeded to cradle her arm, rubbing the sting gently. I managed to catch a glimpse of the part where her skin had touched the sun, it already started blistering. Brita's frame was shaking, most likely from pain. I ran towards her in attempts to comfort her.
"Mad said that sunlight can harm certain infected, but I didn't think it would hurt you guys to this extent..." I trailed off when I heard Brita grunt, or what sounded like one. She just shook her head and stood up, more cautiously this time. I gave her credit for wanting to come with us despite the high change of her getting these types of injuries. She's a tough one.
I grabbed her arm and led her away from the rays of sunlight, I even gave her my jacket as an extra precaution. I'm just glad she didn't mind the blood.
It was easy to lead her away from the rays of sunshine death. She didn't struggle at all and seemed to trust me completely. We managed to catch up to the rest of the group easily, Brita managing to follow without stumbling. I was near Red and she noticed how Brita was wearing my jacket.
"Why is she wearing your jacket?" Red asked curiously.
"The sun rays hurt her skin, its blistering. So I gave her my jacket for protection." I explained, Red had an uneasy look on her face.
"Maybe Brita shouldn't come, it's still bright out and the forest covers only so much."
Before I could say anything, Brita shook her head. Red smiled at that.
"I see, c'mon Brita, Snake says we're close. I'll direct you." Red said as she grabbed Brita's arm and lead her away from the sun rays.
I stayed close to the group, determined to get this done. Hopefully nothing bad happens
The sun had began to set, which was good for Brita but bad for us. It became a sign for us to move more quickly before we become Rake food.
Snake led us to an isolated area of the forest, where there was a patch of weird looking grass. He moved it away and it reveal a sort of small door, he tried to open it but it was sealed tightly.
"Damn it, the rust must have sealed it..." Snake muttered irritably.
Before any of us said or did anything, Brita bent down and pried it open without much effort. I've forgotten infected were stronger than humans. I patted her shoulder and thanked her.
"Okay, listen up, if anything happens, grab whatever you can and get the hell out immediately. Brita, I need you to stay out here just in case something happens. Help get them out quickly and guide them out of the forest as safely as you can. Okay?"
Brita gave a firm nod.
"Okay, Snake and I will pass the supplies down while you three stuff whatever you can into your pouches, alright?"
Red, Russ, and Scott nodded. We all looked ready to do this.
"Alrighty then, lets steal some crap." I said with a smirk as I climbed down the ladder into the dark underground.
To be honest, it was kind of creepy. The place was nearly pitch black, luckily some light managed to seep in through small ominous cracks. It wasn't completely dark, however it was still hard to see. Plus, it didn't exactly smell like daisies down here. It was a sewer system after all.The echo of our footsteps against the slabs of concrete sounded rather cool though, at least, in my opinion.
Snake led the way seeing as he knew the place better, it wasn't long before he stopped at a certain ladder that led up again. I motioned for the rest of the group to stay and be ready for whatever happens. I took the safety off my gun and when it made the clicking noise, I placed it in the back of my jeans. It was easier to reach for and much faster to pull out.Snake climbed up the ladder with me following closely behind.
"You'd better not be staring at my butt." He joked.
"Please, my butt is better than yours." I retorted, snickering slightly. I could see his smirk but faded as soon as he came up towards the door.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Yeah, lets hurry up." Snake nodded and opened the hatch. He scanned the area before climbing up, he helped me up as well which I thanked him for.I stared in awe at all the supplies that were in here, the sight of food made my stomach grumble.
Snake had already gotten to work in getting some supplies, I headed over quickly to help. Finding an empty crate nearby, we decided, why not borrow it? There were so many goodies, I felt myself getting giddy.
Once the crate was full, I brought it near the hatch and looked down.
"Incoming, catch it!" I said loud enough for them to hear me. Russ and Scott prepared themselves as I dropped the crate down.
They smiled when they saw the supplies and quickly began to stuff as much as they could into their pockets and bags that were slung over their shoulder. Red grabbed the remainder of the supplies and stuffed them into her pockets.Snake and I continued to grab as many supplies as we could and drop them down.
Once we knew that we couldn't fit anymore into our bags and pockets, it was time to get going. As we were preparing to leave, I noticed a red glint from the corner of my eye. Smiling, I took the apple and managed to stuff it into the remaining space of the bag I carried.
"Okay Snake, let's get going."
He nodded and got up.
As soon as we left the giant storage unit, I could hear a couple of angry noises.
"Who left the hatch open?!"
"Someone stole from the supplies!"
"Fuck, this is bad."
"Let's get those bastards!"
"Snake..." I whispered.
"I know, let's get a move on."
I nodded and hurried. As soon as we got going, the hatch opened forcefully and a bunch of pissed off soldiers were staring down at us.
"It's the traitors, shoot them!"
I immediately jumped out of sight in order to avoid being shot but I had a rough landing and twisted my foot. Luckily, Snake was strong enough to support me. In a matter of seconds, we both sprinted out of there. Russ, Red, and Scott were already ahead of us and started to climb the ladder. Russ looked worried and turned around.
"Russ! Keep going, we'll catch up! GO!" I yelled, he moved quickly up the ladder and got out. Hopefully Brita was able to lead them towards safety. However, our situation didn't seem as hopeful. I heard a loud gunshot ring out and Snake almost immediately stumbled.
Shit. He was shot.
Looks like they were closer than I originally thought.
"Snake, c'mon buddy we can do this!" I urged.
He grunted but kept moving, we were so close. Another shot rang out, it was my turn this time. I fell to my knees, yelling and cursing at the pain. Snake immediately turned around and aimed his gun towards them, with one shot he managed to send a bullet straight through a guard's head. Snake is a skilled soldier, it put me at ease that he was on our side.
However, another man managed to shoot the gun out of Snake's hand, sending it to the ground. Before he could pick it back up, we were already surrounded. The gun was kicked away, leaving Snake unarmed.
"You're a bunch of dumbasses for trying to take from this place." The guy with a gun pointed at us remarked.
I gritted my teeth from the insult.
"Heh, the higher ups are gonna reward us for this. Can't wait to see you guys get stringed up and your necks broken." Another one commented.
Snake and I were both kicked to the ground as they got a few punches and kicks into us, the guns they held prevented us from fighting back. By the time they were done, I couldn't move. Snake looked pissed off but he kept his anger in check.
We were both dragged away to the most worst place in Lilly.
The Correction Facility, or jail, where we either die from the convicts or the torture.
