Chapter 9
Izuku's POV
Shigaraki then pulled me back to the pin bin and she just grabbed one and walked to the cashier. I was left standing there, staring at her as she left.
Uraraka walked over to me and startled me. I was lost in thought about Shigaraki. "Who was that, Deku?" They all knew I wasn't very sociable from middle school and that meant that they knew all of my friends.
Lying is not my forte by any means, so I just tell the truth. "Oh, that's a friend from middle school." I place my hand on the back of my neck out of habit. She knows I'm lying but she is smart enough to not question me.
"Oh, which friend from middle school? Was it me or your notebook?" Kacchan, being a human lie detector, saw I was lying. It doesn't help that we were in the same middle school. But rather than punishing me for lying, he smirked and leaned against one of the shelves. The whole friend group, other than Mina and Denki who were buying the pop figurine, was forming a semi-circle around me.
I was trapped with only the truth as my way out. "Okay, okay. You caught me, it's one of the people I met last night at the party." A few gasps that I was bringing up the party. I was trying to avoid the memories but fate just hates me. "Before you get any ideas, their dating another girl who was at the party. If you can even consider last night a party, there were 4 of us. In total." I pause so I can breathe before continuing. I told them about Mariocart, seeing the Halloween decorations, and even the guitars. Leaving out the blushing and too close. I also left out the fact that I was alone with Toga while playing cards. I also was not gonna tell them about the confession.
"Sounds like a... good time. Wish I could have gone." Uraraka said. A few heads nodded with her, but I don't care who wanted to come. I was wondering why she said 'good' like that. Her tone changed for it, like poison made of citrus and blood with a coating of sugar. Trying to form a pitiful word.
Kacchan just 'tch'ed like always. He obviously knew I was keeping information from them, luckily he knew not to ask.
We continued out of Hot Topic and head towards the next store. We were trying to get across the mall to get to Uniqlo. Mina needed a new jacket and Iida needed new gloves for the coming winter. During our walk, I pulled Ura to the back of the group, to try and keep it under wraps. But I am terrible at keeping secrets.
"I-"
"Oh, I'm so sorry Izu, can this wait? I need to go do something... womanly. Tsu, I need you." Before I could say another word, she had grabbed Tsu by the wrist and ran towards the bathroom.
"What is it with girls and traveling to the bathroom together?" Kaminari clearly missed the day in middle school explaining about 'womanly stuff.' But no matter, Mina quickly explained.
"Women like to gossip about which guys they think are hot. Since they can't let the possible hoty know how they feel, they go to a secure location." Her tone was clear as crystals, she was playing with him. But Kami being Kami, was ignorant and believed every word.
"Do you think the hoty they are talking about is one of us? It's probably Bakugo or Todoroki, they must get all the girls falling for them. But then there is that slight chance they are talking about me, I mean what girl wouldn't like me?" And Kaminari kept talking and talking, it was getting a bit much.
Oh no, I was about to tell someone to stop rambling, I'm such a hypocrite!
Since Uraraka was off the table for confession time, it was down to two people. Todoroki, he owed me for the sports festival. And Kacchan owes me for that talk we had.
I grab Kacchan to the back of the group since he was closer. "I need advice Kacchan, can you help me?" And just as I thought, he 'tch-ed' and started to walk away. But I grabbed his arm, I really needed to spill to someone I trusted. "Remember the gym talk?" Of course, he would remember, I just had to remind him.
When All Might had fought off All for One, Kacchan felt responsible and he needed to get it off his chest. So he dragged me to the gym late at night. We spent the whole time, me holding the punching bag, and him almost frying me and almost breaking me. "Make it fast Deku." And with that, I started to explain the rest of what I had left out. All the blushing and the confession.
"Damn. I was... not expecting that. I thought it was something opposite. Who knew someone could like a deku? Never would have considered it." His sarcastic, snarky, cryptic comeback to something serious made me upset.
"Could you for once just consider that I'm not an inferior being to you? I know it's a foreign concept to you, but let me explain. It means to be nice, to help others rather than push them down, to give advice when someone asks for it." My voice grew louder than I had wanted. The whole group stopped and were all staring at me with a questioning look. I just walked over to the bench and sat down. Placing my head in my hands I didn't move or speak to answer their questions.
Kacchan spoke as he pushed people away to give me space. "Toga said she loves him and he's trying to handle it." You know? I actually don't hate Kacchan, he can be quite considerate and caring at times. Plus he's a really good cook, and really smart.
Uraraka scared me by showing up all of a sudden. I wasn't expecting her voice and I practically jumped. But I merely looked up at her and had a pleading face, saying, "help me please!"
Hey guys!
So I love to read comments so feel free to comment anywhere you want to in my book. My quarantine time is pretty lackadaisical and not much happening. How would all of you like it if I published another bnha book?
Have a good day!
Shout out to Covid-19, you really suck and should die already.
