Chapter 6
Izuku's POV
My jaw, internally, dropped. It didn't drop from the fact that it looked bigger on the outside than the inside. It didn't drop from the contrasting patterns and put together furniture sets. It didn't even drop from the lack of good food like pepperoni pizza. It dropped from the lack of people.
Clarification, there were no people inside. Nada, nope, niet, nein, zilch, not a single person was inside.
The music was loud enough to be a rager, but without people it just looked sad. Don't get me wrong, it looked like a cozy place to live and not a bad environment to grow up in, but even my small apartment was better furnished than this. The food was in the kitchen, all of the pizzas were either plain cheese or everything. Neither of which I like, what can I say, I like meat.
But none of that mattered of course, I was still going to have a good fun time at this party. Toga seemed to be very cheerful and yet nervous at the same time, I wonder what she's nervous about? Omg could she like one of her friends? I bet it's Shigaraki, I sense great love in sarcasm from her. But then again, even to someone as blind as me, Shigaraki and Kuro are crushing on eachother bad. Or they just started dating and are still in their high of being in love.
We sit down on the couch and Toga flips on the TV. We take a vote of which Wii game to play and it turns out Mariocart is very popular with girls. I personally wanted to play super smash bros. But I was out-voted
Little did they know, my mom and I get quite competitive at the Wii. She would always play as Toad and I would only ever be Yoshi. Green is my favorite color, so why would I play as someone else? I guess Luigi is also green but he isn't a dragon lizard.
"I call playing Toga first!" Kuro practically squealed as she took the remote out of Toga's hand. "I must redeem myself from last time." Apparently this is a common game for these three, they all knew the beat tactics and how to get through all the short cuts.
The round began and they both got a boost at the beginning. Kuro went for a more accelerating car and not as much speed. Toga went with the most handling so she could skid around the corners. Toga remained in the front of the pack for the majority of the race, just skidding past the corners like nobody's business, she only slowed when a blue shell was heading her way. Then she easily slid through the end in first. The other two races ended just like the first, with Toga in the lead and Kuro tailing behind.
It was soon my turn to play against Shigaraki. They thought I was a noob and couldn't handle someone as skilled as Toga. Boy did I prove them wrong.
I started with Yoshi in high accelerator level. Knowing my car from playing before, it would look like I was just taking a random vehicle to anyone else. The map was chosen and I could tell it was Shigaraki's favorite map, too bad it was one of mine too. I had memorized the layout of this map and when to start accelerating and when to skid. It was quite easy to beat him. So after I destroyed Shigiraki, Toga was determined to put me in me in my place. She went for the se car as earlier and I just shrugged.
"What do you have against my car choice?" She sounded annoyed, I mean of course. She, I'm pretty sure, has played this car since her first game and she has mastered the ins and out of the car. So challenging her authority would make her annoyed.
"Oh nothing, just that it would be impossible to win with especially since I went with a quite balanced car stats whereas yours are more concentrated with your ability to turn quickly." I immediately shove a hand in front of my mouth, realizing how rude I sounded.
"We shall see, we shall see." And we started to play. She won the first round, but it was also one of my least favorite maps, it had way to many twists and turns to get a good acceleration. Then we played a map where there weren't as many turns and more hills and obstacles. I beat her by a full 15 seconds, she was quite angry at that. I'm sure it's been a while since she lost, especially to someone who she isn't too close with.
The third round was a map with a few sharp turns but that was for the shortcuts, I took the longer way and focused on maintaining full speed. In the end, she placed a green shell right in front of me, there was nowhere to go so I jumped. The car has the ability to jump if you shake the controller in a certain way, she clearly did not know of this and had slowed down to relish in her victory. I quickly zoomed past her and finished the race. Shigaraki and Kuro were quite impressed with my ability.
"Damn Midoriya! How often do you play? I don't think I've ever seen anyone beat Toga at Mario Cart, well except her brother." Kuro spoke with such a surprising tone it surprised me.
I blush a little at the praise, "Oh, I haven't actually played in a few months, but when I play with my cousin Tsu, I always lose, she's the real deal. I look like a novice compared to her. As for how often, I play with my mom about once every other week." My bonding time with my mom is spent doing community service or playing video games. My mom was the real reason I agreed to pick up trash with my friends, and so I can make the joke that I am going green.
After we finished playing on the Wii, we went to look at the Halloween decorations around the neighborhood. The spooky structures of the haunted houses were completely creepy. I think I peed my pants at least once, but luckily it was too dark to see.
We went back and Toga grabbed one of the guitars that completely contrasted the layout of the room. Kuro grabbed a flute that was on top of the fireplace. "Do you know how to play an instrument Izu?" Toga asked me. I shook my head no and she stood up.
She walked over to me and handed me the guitar and she sat right next to me. Almost too close for comfort, but she just grabbed my hands and helped me set up for a G chord. Bhorum! It sounded like nails on a chalk board, but synchronized and in tune. Then she shifted and had both of my hands hand helped me play it until it sounded like it was suppose to.
Suddenly I realized that Kuro and Shigaraki had gone home and it was only Toga and I.
Hello!
I hope you liked this chapter, I finally got to the party! It was fun to write about, and I feel like I did a good job with it. Keep in mind that it's not done yet, the party will stay alive until Izu goes home.
I also don't have to go to school until 4/20 so now I can write more or procrastinate more, one or the other. Also Kacchan's birthday is when I go back to school!
Answer to the riddle: When is it good to go towards red and bad towards white? When driving!
Shout out to @Microphone42 for throwing a great Halloween party!
