Just before school ended with homeroom that day, Aizawa stopped Izuku on his way out.

"So for the lesson tomorrow, I was wondering if you could..."

As he explained, Izuku nodded before smiling when he was finished.

'I'd be honored to!' He signed.

Aizawa nodded. "I'm not that great at sign language, so I may as well learn something from this as well."

Aizawa then sent him home and Izuku thought about the next day.

———————————————

Izuku got to school early again that morning. Iida was already there and a few minutes later, Todoroki showed up. Iida and Izuku 'talked' a bit and the rest of the class came in.

When class started and Aizawa rolled into the room, Iida immediately calmed the class down.

"Thank you, Iida. Now, throughout the rest of the day, I want you all to choose a class president and vice president-" Aizawa was cut off by their excited outbursts.

"Pick me! Pick me!" Shouted Mina.

"I wanna give it a go!" Kirishima yelled out.

"I wanna be the president!" Kaminari exclaimed.

"Shut up, extras! I'll be the damn president!" You could probably guess who said that.

Aizawa used his scarf to wrap all of their mouths. "Shut up and let me finish," He said.

"Anyways, I want you to choose them by the end of the day. If you can't then I'll choose one myself. As for today's lesson-" Aizawa glanced over at Izuku who nodded and got up.

As he made it to the front of the class, Izuku could feel his classmates eyes on him. He took his place beside Aizawa who laid a hand on his shoulder and started talking again.

"Knowing multiple languages is a good skill for heroes to have. It makes communication between citizens and victims easier. During disasters as well. Learning sign language could benefit you on the field, so..." He pointed to Izuku. "Midoriya will be your teacher for today."

The class jumped, but in a good way.

"Yay! Sign language!"

"Cool! Midoriya'll be our teacher!"

"I actually wanna learn that."

"Do your best, Deku-kun!"

"Good luck, dude!"

Izuku smiled as Aizawa went to his desk and sat down. "Go on, then."

Izuku walked over to the chalkboard as Asui asked Aizawa a question.

"Will you be sleeping today, too, sensei?"

"I'm not so great at signing, so I'll stay awake to listen," He replied.

By then, Izuku had written down 'Basics of Sign Language' in big letters on the board.

The night before, Izuku had gotten together a plan just for the lesson. He made notes and did his best to simplify the explanations. He even made a slideshow to go with the it. Izuku also had to find out how to give the lesson without wasting time on writing things down, waiting for everyone to read it, and erasing it so he could write something else. Luckily though, he thought of an idea but it may or may not work.

'So... Aizawa-sensei asked me to teach sign language today, so here I am.' Izuku wrote. 'Before I start though, so I don't have to waste time on writing...'

He set the chalk down and glanced over at Bakugou.

Bakugou was the only one who really knew how to read and sign. Izuku guessed that he started learning when he went mute, but he wasn't sure until they got into UA. After thinking about Izuku's confrontation behind their junior high, he noticed that Bakugou was actually reading his sign. Why else would he have stopped long enough for him to escape his grip? His suspicion was confirmed after Izuku told him about his quirk.

For the lesson, Izuku was hoping that Bakugou could translate for him.

'Uh, Kacchan?' Izuku signed, successfully grabbing Bakugou's attention, who growled in response.

'I don't want to waste time on writing things down on the board... so... could you translate for me...?'

He gained a scoff and Izuku watched as Bakugou lifted his hands.

'Why would I fucking help you, eh, Deku?'

Izuku's eyes widened at his silent reply. That was the first time he'd seen Bakugou sign and he was so fluent at it. Despite his surprise, though, he hastily moved his hands around to explain.

'I really don't want to slow everyone down. They all seem excited to actually learn, though I wouldn't know why. I just don't want to disappoint them. They've all been good to me so far and I really like them. And as Aizawa-sensei said before, sign language can be really helpful in hero duties. Like surprise attacks, when you need to give off a signal or exchange information. Sometimes it's also useful in public when someone who can't speak or hear needs help. Sign language can help you and others. Everyone learning sign language, or at least the basics, could also help me in a way. It would help me communicate better with the others so I don't have to write anything down and such. But-'

Izuku was cut off by Bakugo as he punched his desk in frustration, startling the class.

"Okay, okay, I get it!" He shouted out loud. "Just stop talking! Geez! It's like damn preschool all over again!"

As he made his way to the front, Bakugou muttered, "I swear, Deku, even when you're signing you can be fucking obnoxious."

Izuku sweat dropped but smiled at Bakugou as he stood just a ways beside him.

"Umm, why's Bakugou up there...?" Ojiro asked.

'Kacchan's my translator and he'll be helping me with the lesson,' Izuku signed.

Bakugou 'tched' before saying, "I'll be translating him and helping with the lesson." Then he turned to Izuku. "Deku, don't think you're getting out of this so easily, too."

'I'll buy you lunch for the whole week,' Izuku suggested.

"The whole year," Bakugou said.

'Two weeks,' Izuku signed.

"Half the year," Bakugou pushed.

'Kacchan, I don't have enough money to pay for two people for so-'

"A whole month or I'm sitting back down and leaving you to suffer."

Izuku sighed. How was he going to get through with the lesson and ignore Bakugou's remarks?

———————————————

Meanwhile, the rest of the class watched in awkward silence as Bakugou argued with Midoriya over who knows what. Ochaco turned around to whisper to Iida.

"Who woulda' thought angry Mr Blasty over there would know sign language?" She said.

Iida nodded as he watched the pair up front. "Yes," He agreed, "It even seems that he knows it to such a level that he can keep up with Midoriya's signing sprees."

Ochaco nodded as well. Iida was referring to the times when Midoriya would sign with his hands so quickly that she could barely see his fingers. He did it when he seemed to be in deep thought. Even though they'd only been friends for three days, they both had seen him do it enough to know that it was a habit.

"It's kinda weird though," Ochaco said. "I mean- why would Bakugou want to learn sign language anyways?"

Iida put on a thoughtful look for a moment. "Well, Midoriya did mention one time that they were childhood friends, were they not? Bakugou may have learned sign language in order to communicate with him."

"It's a good idea," Ochaco admitted, "but it still doesn't seem right."

"But Bakugou also teased Deku-kun back then, didn't he?" Ochaco wondered. "Hmm... those two's story sure is confusing."

Iida hummed in agreement.

Ochaco turned around in her seat to see that both Bakugou and Midoriya had finally come to an agreement. Aizawa, who was sitting in his desk and watching them with tired eyes, yawned.

"Could you get on with the lesson already?"

Midoriya rubbed his neck sheepishly while Bakugou crosses his arms. Midoriya then started up a slideshow for visuals before signing towards the class.

Bakugou stared at his hand movements out of the corner of his eye before sighing. "I'll be teaching you all the basic understanding of sign language, and, if I get a chance to in the future, I could help you get into it at a more fluent state." He translated.

Midoriya then started signing again and Bakugou once again translated.

"If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask."

The lesson actually went smoothly from there on, much to Ochaco's surprise. She expected for Bakugou to blow up more than he did and Aizawa managed to stay awake throughout the whole thing. Midoriya was able to teach them finger spelling and some easy and everyday signs like 'thank you' and 'good morning' or 'no thank you' and the such. When the lesson was over, everyone clapped and Midoriya put on a sheepish smile while Bakugou growled as he made his way to his desk. Aizawa thanked him for teaching and, in the short period between this and the next class, everyone went up to Midoriya.

"That was actually interesting, man!"

"I think I learned something."

"That was cool!"

Thanks for teaching."

"I wanna learn more now!"

Ochaco made her way to his crowded desk, Iida following close behind.

"Deku-kun! That was so cool! What were you talking to Bakugou about before the lesson, though?" She asked.

"Yes, the sign you used with him seemed to be different than what you taught us," Iida added.

Midoriya took out his journal and wrote in it. 'He wanted something if he was going to help me up there. We decided that I'd buy him lunch for 2 weeks and give him something of mine after school.'

"What's 'something?'" Ochaco asked tilting her head in confusion.

'Ah- A limited addition All Might poster of mine...'

Ochaco laughed out loud. "What?! Seriously?! I never would've expected him to be into All-"

Midoriya's hands on her mouth cut her off as he shook his head at her. He moved away and started writing something else.

'If you say that out loud, Kacchan will kill you!'

Ochaco made a determined face in reply. "Yeah right," She brought her fists in front of her and started punching the air. "As if I'd let him."

Midoriya smiled up at her as she laughed. Present Mic then walked into the room, asking- no, yelling for everyone to get to their seats. Iida walked with Ochaco back as she was still calming down. She then sat in her seat and wondered about trivial things.
